This is crazy. I almost sprung for the H9000 (as it's one of my bucket list gear items), then Eventide put the H3000 plugin on sale and I picked it up. The difference between the two is nuanced at best. I will be brutally honest, I heard the H3000 stand out on the mix even MORE than the hardware in a beautiful way too.
H-9000 has the highest quality fidelity. But the Soundtoys has a cool sound to it , too. It moves the signal back a bit which influences the overall perception of it.
Thanks Alex for the demo. I was surprised as well as I have all of the SoundToys stuff and the Micropitch. I course I like the Immersive Plugins Eventide has now and use them constantly in the immersive space. I think the H-3000 sound really god to my ears as well after the 9000, not so bright as the others, which I do not care for.
Thanks for an interesting video, Alex. H9000 - Expensive effect with analog Gel H3000 mkII - Expensive sound but sticks out of the mix Micropitch - Has its own sound in a good way and sticks out of the mix Microshift - Has similar sound to Micropitch but has the analog'ish low mid and sticks out of the mix H9000 is glued into the mix and doesn't sound like an added sound rather, sounds like part of the original sound itself. Lord Bless.
Thankyou - there's not many comparisons out there. Would have been cool to have the UA AMS DMX in there too. I think the H3000 has more of an 'analog' '3d' thing going on, but the 9000 does sound excellent.
Thanks for this comparison, I am trialling the H3000 plug-in right now. I thought 3000 sounded one dimensional compared to 9000 which is a good job as Eventide would be putting themselves out of business if their high end products sounded no different. As an aside I think the vocalist has a beautiful voice which, in my humble opinion, is spoiled dramatically by overuse of autotune/melodyne. I’d love to hear his voice in a raw, emotional way which would suit the guitars, flute and organic theme of the wonderful song you are using. Kindest regards from London 🇬🇧 UK 🙂
Im guessing the Difference of that top end, maybe because in the H3000MkII ,I believe they have modelled the i/o AD/DA to the original Sony convertor specs... So im guessing , though pristine at the time, very different to using a 9000r , spitting the Algo out untouched... Maybe? Does the 9000r also have the option to model them also ?? Be interesting.... Thanks for the Vid... I just got my free version upgrade as an owner Anthology XII... Awesome..
Good point! Yes I read that they re-modeled the plugin by integration the I/O. No the H9000 doesn’t model the converters and I’m currently using it via DANTE so 32-bit all the way through :)
H9000! Then Micropitch > H3000 > Soundtoys for me. If you would allow me to add a suggestion, I would try one more test and that would be to route the plugins out through good converters into a summing mixer or analog console then back. I know you would have to deal with latency but I’ve done it before and I noticed a difference. Maybe it’s just me. Great video Alex. Thank you!
Is it me or the H3000 plugin doesn't have reverbs algorythm inside like Hardware? I see the plugin doesn't have some presets (shimmering etc...) The list of the original hardware presets are not in the plugin? Why?
hmm... listened on Kii3 monitors (so I hear every detail)... the Microshift sounds the most "HW", with brittle high end, and with this finest flangy sound... 2nd is micropitch (as you tilt the tone control to the right side) - but it has no 3D, there is some space missing, the h3000 sounds good, it has the 3D, it has no "treble", the hifi top end. There is not winner for me. And as I have all the plugins /h3000 the old one/, the winner in this particullar test is Microshift for me.
@@DolbyAtmosMixingThey sound just fantastic - they are true chameleons for all gengres, for mixing, mastering... just everything, especially if you setup your own filters (eq). I love that feature.

I’m going to get the H9000 👍

Wow that music is amazing

The H3000 has that 3D thing and nice round sound.
Thanks for making this comparison man!

I’ve been using the sound toys for years until I got the H9000. Up until this shootout I didn’t know how they compared.

Analog? I thought the H9000 is a DSP.
Nice demo of Eventide Micropitch & comparison. THanks
Great Video Alex!!!

Heya! Good feedback. The artist for this genre expects auto tune though I agree he’s got a great tone without it 👌

What do you think about the Eventide MicroPitch Immersive?
Yes Hardware wins every time
Hey Alex , excellent sounding ACG, do you happen to know what mic was used on it ? Also, when will your Spatial mix of the album be available ?
I do not. The stems were premixed but needed additional spatial treatment for the album :)

The artist here sounds like flavor from Nigeria

So, you compared it against an H9000 and you can't compare it against the real thing? The H3000 hardware can't be copied by the H9000.
Hey there. I do t have the H3000 hardware to do a direct comparison which is why I chose to compare the MICROPITCHSHIFT preset instead.
@@DolbyAtmosMixingso to break it down does the plugin sound identical to the h3000 hardware ?😊

H9000 all the way down to h7000 sound like thin crap!!!! so comparing to H9000 to plugin and h9000 winning is a bad sign for the plugin and h9000
Sorry H9
No. Get the H9000 😅
