Hey Trogly - glad you liked the tester lead I made for you! I was making one for myself as I do guitar tech work as a side gig, and I thought I should make one for you to say "Thanks" for the great videos. You may be right - I did keep the leads kind of short, but I did that purposefully for myself because I have limited space on my bench. I hope you enjoy it and maybe I will dip into that niche market and sell some of those!!
Yours is a better system than using alligator clips which on my meter are tiny ends and not big enough to stay attached on the patch plugs.
@@jimmyjames2022 Agreed - the alligator clips are fine when you are attaching to smaller diameter wires, but when you are clamping to something like a 1/4" plug, they definitely can pop off. I probably should have made the leads longer though - you could always coil it up to save space if you don't need to full length. I did use silicone coated wire so it was not susceptible to melting when I was soldering, so it is a little more expensive.

You're the kinda guitar nerd I hope is doing electronic swaps in one of my guitars. And I always wondered how he pulled readings. If you pulled out your custom set and were like "naw this pickup is good" I'd be more impressed than the roach clip method. I understand trogs reasoning he's a good man, but I think you should offer them on reverb. Dunno if you'll become a millionaire cuz of them but I can see you getting rid of quite a few sets to guitar techs/nerds.. worse case Ontario they don't sale and you have a few you've pre-made.

When I was a long haired teenager back in the ##'s, there used to be a music shop downtown that was where you went for the pointy guitars, big amps and all the real rock and roll sh*t. All the best guitarists with the fastest fingers and the coolest hair worked there.
They had a set of shelves with free catalogs, sales pamphlets, literature and posters from all of the instrument manufacturers and some of the record companies.
I used to wallpaper my room with those things.
I miss that. The hair, that is; not the posters...
Guitar Center has stepped up their game too. If you order over their app or over the phone. They assign an associate to you that takes care of you before and after the sale.
So, one that keeps bugging you months later about buying more stuff from them, kind of like Sweetwater?

I used to work at DHL snd they typically do up to 3 inspections at the origin station. A physical inspection upon the creation of the airwaybill, a visual inspection before it gets dimmed n' weighd, and a TSA approved means of screening before it gets loaded on an airplane. More inspections may happen between the origin and the destination as per the transiting country's laws.
The Spanish Surprise from Manu was a nice treat, what a treasure trove of historic Gibson documentation. Fun episode.

1:51 I believe that is an aniline die transfer mark. That die will transfer. If you have a stand that is dark color the die will not show that it has soaked into the soft support until it transfers to another guitar as seen here. IMHO don’t buy used guitar stands. And do place cloth under your Custom Shop burst. I have a König & Meyer stand that I had my 59 burst in. Fortunately the stand is black with white guitar supports. The white rubber thought me a much less expensive lesson than seen here in today’s video. The red begin to leach into the stand leaving a red mark after one night in the stand. This is my recent experience with mysterious red marks. I now cradle my burst with a couple old t shirts.
Wrong flag Trogly!
Pre-departure international airfreight security inspections have been par for the course with DHL and most other carriers for some years. The DHL stickers and tape clearly show why the box has been opened. You'd be more bummed if the box had been randomly opened without any indication. If the security seal and tape have been broken before delivery it indicates that destination customs have also opened and inspected the contents.

I used to run a customs bonded freight division of a courier company, all carriers that run bonded warehouses, DHL, the airlines etc all have rolls of customs inspection tape laying around with the carrier name and some variation of "customs inspected" on them. Customs come and go from warehouses like that all the time, they either randomly pick, or select ahead of time packages they want to inspect, the carrier branded tape keeps the customs officers from having to carry boxes of tape around with them, and shows you it was opened officially. The carrier can't open your package on their own once it's in bond, this was likely done with a customs inspector present when it got to the US to be sent to you.

Cool you got back that Adam Jones Les Paul Trogs, But in this day and age, how can people not know about the little sock type things you slip over the rubber guards on your guitar stands??? I've been using those things for nearly thirty years. It always cracks me up how people will spend $2000 or more on a guitar and they do not think to buy those guards. And then you get staining or blemishes on the guitar from the rubber, smh... 😑

Those banana to 6,5mm plugs patch cables are not only used for checking pickup wire resistance. I have a set that is like that and a set that goes from 6,5 to BNC. I use them for electronics repairs to inject signal or measure a signal. I have an electronics repair shop (marine, industrial and test/calibration gear) The patch cables are more used for hobby, like repairing a (guitar) amp. Playing guitar and electronics are my (very long time) hobbies. I only have 8 guitars, I live and have my shop on a boat, so no room for more guitars.
07:12 - I still have my 2008 SG Special Faded Worn Cherry that I bought new. It was my first guitar. I got it after drooling over a similar catalogue from around 2005 where all the Faded guitars were shown and the specs listed. I originally wanted that LP Faded Special single cut, but no one ever had it in my country, so it was impossible to get. Can't say the SG hasn't worked out great anyway...

I could be wrong (you were talking about early 00's guitars) but i reall can see those robot guitars fetching a premium down the road. I know theyre hated right now and cheap especially in origional form, but i can see those guitars being worth a lot of money some day just because they were so beyond the time and so hated. I can see them being like the lamborghini muira.. hated in their day but now worth insane money. I think i might buy one just for the f of it and hold on to it for years. I can see an origional everything included clean version fetching a pretty penny down the road.

Please use your channel to give some very valuable advice: Especially with Gibson guitar, tune the strings down SLACK when shipping the guitar. We know that headstock is a bit fragile and by slacking the strings it takes about 100 pounds of force off the headstock area which gives it just that much more tolerance to being knocked around in shipping. This isn't a bad idea for ANY guitars but especially for Gibsons!

Speaking of trem arms, how hard is it to find one for a Maestro Vibrola? I've been having a look at Batwing SGs and ones that are missing the arm deter me away for that very reason that I don't know how hard they are to come by

I bought a maton bb1200 that had all the Australian business cards ect in it and I'm pretty sure it's 100% it's the only black one to ever be listed and I bought it some years back off reverb. I don't think there's more than a couple in the US, even getting stock photos of a black one is hit or miss... I know Josh homme has atleast one if not multiple, what I'm saying is I hope aus customs is good and don't do shady stuff and/or us customs coming from aus

I would guess it was checked for animal/pests. Australia has alot of wildlife that can really F with the ecosystem. I think they take all the things out and radiate them.
