Congratulations! What a blessing for all of you ! We adopted our precious daughter when she was 1 1/2 years old we had foster care of her from 9months old and she is now going on 8 years old. It was quick foster then adoption situation so we too were rushing to buy baby stuff brought back memories. We have grown children so it was definitely starting over for us. Absolute the best decision and Blessing we have made. Again Congratulations!

Fostered two babies from 2 mos to 4 mos. we almost gave up.. then ... we gave it one more chance.. and Ali is now 13 . As an adoptive child, this video really affected me. 😭 I am 46 yrs old now & have never met my biological family in the Philippines, but I am so grateful for MY family. They are all I know and I don’t know how my life would have turned out without them. God bless you all for adding this precious child into your family. You really are a blessing for her and maybe she is meant to complete your family. I know you may still be in shock and things moved so quickly, but know that our dear lord will always be by your side to guide you and love you all. I had a similar situation when I adopted my son. I talked to birth Mom on a Tuesday, and she casually asked if I could take him. I wasn't actively looking to adopt, but had always had it in the back of my mind. I picked him up on Friday. I had NOTHING for him except what I could quickly pick up (car seat, diapers, formula, bottles), and he initially slept in a dresser drawer until I could get a crib set up for him. He's now 31 and one of the biggest blessings of my life. I have never regretted that instantaneous decision, as it felt like it had to be God.

In my husband's family of 13 children, the last 3 were all adopted as infants - my husband included. With the loving support of his family, he began looking for his blood relatives a couple of years ago. What he discovered was just how incredibly blessed and protected he was to have been placed for adoption. Life with his blood relatives would have been harsh, abusive, and rife with a lack of resources. If he had followed in his birth parents footsteps, he would have been dead by 40. Instead he is surrounded by loving siblings, has inherited a rich family tradition and religion, has been married for 30 years, is a father and grandfather. At 51 years old, he is happy, healthy, and surrounded by love and life. The greatest blessing in his life was his birth mother's decision to give him up, followed closely by his parents decision to adopt him. You may never know how deep you have blessed this little girl, Somers family. But someday, she will.
My aunt (by marriage) and all 7 of her siblings were adopted, and then her parents adopted one of their grandchildren. She found her biological family recently, and it was unfortunately similar. They immediately asked her for money and insisted that she change her last name from her married name, to theirs.

I am a late discovery adoptee I just found out only five years ago. I know this baby is going to have a fabulous life with your family just make sure you tell her at a young age. Also my sister was adopted into our family when I was fifteen, although I was very happy for her arrival it’s an adjustment for sure so expect that from your kids at some point. It’s very normal. Right now it’s all happy and beautiful but it is a definite adjustment. God bless you all on this precious new arrival. Can’t wait to see the next vlog.
55 years ago My husband and I had the same experience. We are now the proud grandparents of 4 wonderful grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. My husband and I are no well into our 80's and celebrated our 65th wedding anniversary a few days ago. Our beautiful daughter is an outstanding mother and wife. We thank GOD for the wonderful gift He gave us. Instead of being 2 lonely old people we are surrounded by love and family. May GOD bless you in the same way.

I’m so excited for you guys! We also had a 24 hour window between “the call” and loading our 2 week old baby girl into our van. It was terrifying and miraculous and every single thing in between. We had 3 older kids as well and it was completely life changing for all of us. And I’d do it again every single day. Adoption is close to Gods heart and to be hand picked by him to be a child’s family is such an honor. 💚

Been there done this! So excited for this little baby. God had a plan from before she was formed and your family was part of that plan. How exciting. We have 9 children all grown now. Six of our children are adopted. Ages at placement ranged between 4 to 13. Ernie have 25 grandchildren all because of Gods plan. We are so blessed.

I’m adopted & my older brother (rip at 39 years old this past June unfortunately) was adopted from a different family 4 years before I was. Both of us were adopted as babies but through traditional adoption not connected with foster care etc. Amazing to see this journey! Hits home 10000000% Love my family & learned at a very very very young age blood doesn’t mean anything, it’s love that makes a family.
I have a nephew that was adopted since his mother was carrying him.We love him as he were our own blood ..There is no difference to other nephews. He is a very successful chemical engineer profesional. Also he is an excellent human being...

I was actually in foster care from 6 months to 3 years old before I was adopted by a United Methodist Preacher and his wife (now Mom & Dad) (God lead them to me too!). This reminds me so much of when I adopted my son. I met the birth mom on a Friday and the very next day he was born 7 weeks early, and I became his mom immediately! It’s been 28 wonderful years and the feeling of holding him right after he was born and the way he snuggled in and fit perfectly is the best feeling. God bless you Somers Family!

it could have been a private adoption, not with an agency. That’s a much different timeline. I guess they’ll fill us in as they make new videos!

Oh, Garrett. I get it. I had three older brothers. My mom said I cried when she told me she had twins that were a boy and a girl. I told her I only wanted one that was a girl. It's not always easy being out numbered. He is going to be a great big brother to his little sister.

My 38-year-old daughter and her husband just adopted a little boy that was abandoned at the hospital. He is now two months old. They brought him home at a week old too. I'm blessed to watch him three days a week while my daughter works. I'm a new grandma again. Congratulations...🎉🥳🎉

I am a late discovery adoptee I just found out only five years ago. I know this baby is going to have a fabulous life with your family just make sure you tell her at a young age. Also my sister was adopted into our family when I was fifteen, although I was very happy for her arrival it’s an adjustment for sure so expect that from your kids at some point. It’s very normal. Right now it’s all happy and beautiful but it is a definite adjustment. God bless you all on this precious new arrival. Can’t wait to see the next vlog.

55 years ago My husband and I had the same experience. We are now the proud grandparents of 4 wonderful grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. My husband and I are no well into our 80's and celebrated our 65th wedding anniversary a few days ago. Our beautiful daughter is an outstanding mother and wife. We thank GOD for the wonderful gift He gave us. Instead of being 2 lonely old people we are surrounded by love and family. May GOD bless you in the same way.

I’m so excited for you guys! We also had a 24 hour window between “the call” and loading our 2 week old baby girl into our van. It was terrifying and miraculous and every single thing in between. We had 3 older kids as well and it was completely life changing for all of us. And I’d do it again every single day. Adoption is close to Gods heart and to be hand picked by him to be a child’s family is such an honor. 💚

Been there done this! So excited for this little baby. God had a plan from before she was formed and your family was part of that plan. How exciting. We have 9 children all grown now. Six of our children are adopted. Ages at placement ranged between 4 to 13. Ernie have 25 grandchildren all because of Gods plan. We are so blessed.
My husband and I have been trying to naturally conceive for the 4 years we've been married & this video gives me so much hope. Like the reason we aren't getting pregnant is because we were meant to adopt a child in need.
My sister was married for 8 years before adopting newborn. She was told she would never be able to have a child. 3 years after bringing the baby home she was 8 months pregnant.
I’m adopted & my older brother (rip at 39 years old this past June unfortunately) was adopted from a different family 4 years before I was. Both of us were adopted as babies but through traditional adoption not connected with foster care etc. Amazing to see this journey! Hits home 10000000% Love my family & learned at a very very very young age blood doesn’t mean anything, it’s love that makes a family.

I have a nephew that was adopted since his mother was carrying him.We love him as he were our own blood ..There is no difference to other nephews. He is a very successful chemical engineer profesional. Also he is an excellent human being...

As an adopted child, the shirt story really got to me! I was actually in foster care from 6 months to 3 years old before I was adopted by a United Methodist Preacher and his wife (now Mom & Dad) (God lead them to me too!). I'm so glad that that sweet baby girl has you in her life. May you all be blessed! P. S. It looks like Christmas came early this year!!!

This reminds me so much of when I adopted my son. I met the birth mom on a Friday and the very next day he was born 7 weeks early, and I became his mom immediately! It’s been 28 wonderful years and the feeling of holding him right after he was born and the way he snuggled in and fit perfectly is the best feeling. God bless you Somers Family!

Our adopted son is 24 now. Like y'all, God dropped him in our laps, and our lives were turned upside down. We are so very grateful for the blessing and the ride that accompanied his presence in our lives. Rejoicing with and praying for you all! Welcome little one!!!
I took on an infant, after the initial shock, I knew God had put her in my life for a reason. Thankfully she's back with her Mama but I was prepared for the long haul. We are still close.
