It mite help u some to that the u joint out and use the shaft to line it up and change the u joint while I’m there change the impeller if the bellow boots is old out she comes. There kind of a pain to replace but worth it for sure. Good luck guys hope it goes smoothly for u.
You can also put flappers on the exhaust on the end of it where it comes out of the boat so that way water doesn't try to hydrolock had to do that for a few customer boats of ours. Like all the content and can't wait to see how the new shop turns out
There should be a gasket and o-ring behind the out drive. And the boat needs to be in forward gear to remove and install the outdrive. They also make an alingment tool for making the job easier and replacing gimble bearing.
love that dog he's cool wish my dad did things like that he always helped when needed but never really cared much about fixing boats and cars and bikes dudes boom truck is wild
I was laughing so hard when Lutz Sr. was surprised with a stinky pond to deal with before the engine repair, priceless!!! ps/ a cool Old School Chevy Chase Moment, talking about how great the motor is than you lift up on the quadra jet intake and it came off like butter, slipping off, not bolted = HILLARIOUS!!! So friggin funny 🤣😂🤣
There is a line up tool to ensure ya have those side motor mounts adjusted correctly to ensure the drive slides in properly….. also, if the skag on the drive is touching the floor as you are attempting to install it, lower the tongue on the trailer down til its a straight shot in….
Good deal,, it's alive. The Lutz gang will have no problems getting the minor issues worked out and it will be back on the water up at camp in a jiffy. This summer there'll be some cruz'n and skiing at the Lutz Resort :)
Glad to see what yal are doing enjoyed the video keep up the good work it's not all about racing. I have been watching yal from the very first street outlaws good to see some every day like just a good old country boy loving life cool
great seeing you guys no bs get it done attitude , jr remind dad to take it easy on the soft drinks they make you amped up , short and assey ~it the sodium benzoate and other stuff .
I’d be in my glory if I could be there working on and building bad ass stuff with ya’ll.. love the videos! Lol my pops and I are the SAME way with each other when we are out working on the hot rods.
Hey Jeff, huge fan here and I’m looking forward to a great season. I’m writing this for a far more serious reason though. As I’m sure you know, Mike Murrilo and Lizzy are both battling cancer. I think to show love, support and the brotherhood of the racing community that all the drivers ( and anyone else who wants to participate ) show up at the first NPK race with their heads shaven. I think it would be a great way to show support for not only our brother and sister but for everyone fighting this terrible disease. If you think this is a good idea that you’d be willing to support, I only ask that you reach out to your fellow drivers to get them on board as you have far more reach than a random fan like myself. Good luck this season.
Just a little tip on pull off and putting on the outdrive you need to have the shift lever put in forward gear this let's the shift linkage straight to remove the driver without hurting the lower shift cable..
You should put shifter in drive before you take out drive off and leave it there while putting it back on. Lowering the nose of the boat helps a lot. Have done many of them.
Then you start it on no water going to it.... Sooo now it needs a new sea pump and water pump. Nice job.... Those are rubber impellers in stainless housing and you melted them...
Any time you put or take the outdrive in or out the boat has to be in the forward gear on the shifter. I found this out the hard way!! Great job guys enjoyed the content.
Hey guys. There is a setup called captains choice exhaust. My buddy has it on his boat. It give you the option of through hull or out the drive exhaust. All bolt up stuff. Flip a switch and away you go.
Hey Jeff the best way to get one of those 350 Chevy in a boat is to turn over is to put it in forward an step on the prop because u have to have the drive in forward to get the drive off an if it’s an Alfa but if it’s a bravo out drive it has to be in neutral
B used O ut A nother T housing (LOL) Great Family Fun especially when you Get the the torque and horsepower underhood the hood, I did it to mine And many others, Great Content and Video 👍 Your Content is Appreciated and will help people with their own ideas Have a Great Day 👍 God Bless America 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
Jeff and the Boys would love to see ur plans and watch the building being built wat can i say i am a guy i like that shit lol. U guys r killing it man thanks for these longer vids really enjoy them and hell sometimes we learn alittle too at 10:56 this reminds me of a version of ROADKILL
You guys struggled the way I did when I did till it came to me to lower the front jack as low as I could to get the correct angle to slide outdrive right in lol you can go further by putting block under ball hitch to get even lower if needed. Keep up good work. Hope to see you guys this summer at npk
I can tell you right now how and why the floors rotted out in that Crownline boat is because who ever owned that boat everytime they were done with it they put that water tight canvas cover on it with out letting the boat dry out and it just basically cooked that wood causing to rapidly rot out.
I bet it overheats on you first time you put it in the water. If you don't have water hooked to it when you start it you'll burn the impeller right out of the lower unit
Lutz Jr., great job on the boat engine, Dad gave you an early Christmas 🎄 present, so cool 😎 and good luck on piping that exhaust, first time, yikes 😳. Your smart and you got an elder brain 🧠 with two young brains to work with, it should work out if you don't rush the job. Thanks Lutz family on another amazing video 📸
Well Jeff imma put it in the comments 😂😂 Don't like seeing A$$ crack!!!! But on a side note LOVE watching you guys do anything at all you guys make everything look easy!!!😂😅😂😅😂😅😂 Keep doing what you do!!!!
I like that you didn't make 13 videos of getting motor and pulling motor then putting inn like most would. Started a swap and finished in 1 video other than the finishing touches and it will be water ready.
Pep boys has longblocks much easier to get then the anchor ⚓ to the outdrive could be the reason why the motor doesn't spin jyd got a 302 that was not locked up it was the outdrive
Oh ya Jeff the 4.3 has a different ratio out drive so if it’s the same outdrive on Jeffery boat I’d switch the drive that’s on the boat because u need a 1.50 ratio drive for a 350 or a 260 MerCruiser
Cam does have a lot too do with it if duration over laps it will suck water in unless you run full fry headers or enclosed wet exhaust witch start at probably 7500.00
You guys are awesome boat crew through it in quick I'm from the great lakes and I've done three in my life 1st one took me 4 fucking days.the last 1 took 5hrs fuckin A brother
I'm in PGH and do all my own work on my boats. Message me if you want some knowledge or help with this. There is alot of stuff you guys aren't doing correctly. I have put plenty of outdrives and motors in and out of boats.

Definitely should show your new shop being built! Appreciate the content!
We will. As soon as it’s started we will be filming it.
@@lutzracecarspgh really appreciate it, best of luck with everything, you guys have my support every time!
Y’all are doing great at getting the content out
Met Jeff and the misses yesterday in Moncton Canada at the car show. great people. Thanks for chatting
Thank you guys for posting this !. Really enjoyed the video. Can't wait to see the boat going back on the water soon !
You can also put flappers on the exhaust on the end of it where it comes out of the boat so that way water doesn't try to hydrolock had to do that for a few customer boats of ours. Like all the content and can't wait to see how the new shop turns out
Yes for sure I agree I have vacuum actuated ones
Yes need flappers if your boat sets low in water waves will push water in exhaust
There should be a gasket and o-ring behind the out drive. And the boat needs to be in forward gear to remove and install the outdrive. They also make an alingment tool for making the job easier and replacing gimble bearing.
I was gonna say this, people don't realize how easy it is to rebuild the water pump and shift bushings
Looks like a great time. Enjoy your guises time off get some projects done get in the water put her down. God bless.
Much love ❤ shared!!!
Thanks for the video
Great stuff! I'm digging the change of pace on these videos! Can't wait to see the boat on the water and the new shop being built.
love that dog he's cool wish my dad did things like that he always helped when needed but never really cared much about fixing boats and cars and bikes dudes boom truck is wild
Happiest days in a boat owners life, when he buys it, and the day he sells it 😂😂😂
Excited to see new shop build vidjas ! ! !

Lutz Race BOATS!!🏁
Jeff not nearly as grumpy as he looks
You know there building ls engines to 527 cid now perfect for an 18 foot boat😮
those uga duggas on the motor mounts.... 10 out of 10 approve.
I just use a little spit…it usually works just fine! 😂

That went way to easy.
Jeffrey is very lucky, that's a beautiful boat.
Then you start it on no water going to it.... Sooo now it needs a new sea pump and water pump. Nice job.... Those are rubber impellers in stainless housing and you melted them...
I know Jeff Lutz knows his shit but who the phuk are you. Jeff Lutz is on Street Outlaws, what poosy show are you on?
I see your on a lot of comments which means your making them from taking a s#!t on the toilet. What experience of yours is of attention for a network?
Bahhh impeller is a 10 min job did they most likely kill it yes but not end of world. They don’t know boats!
Any time you put or take the outdrive in or out the boat has to be in the forward gear on the shifter. I found this out the hard way!! Great job guys enjoyed the content.
They say the two best days of a boat owner are the day u buy it and the day u sell it 🤣🤣
Hey guys. There is a setup called captains choice exhaust. My buddy has it on his boat. It give you the option of through hull or out the drive exhaust. All bolt up stuff. Flip a switch and away you go.
This makes me miss my 18 foot 67 Sanger V-,Drive that was powered by a 401 Nailhead Buick.
Love all the content I have a 94 celebrity 26.5 cc 7.4 with a bravo love my boat
Awesome to see that obs Chevy n the background when r y’all going to build it
Hey Jeff the best way to get one of those 350 Chevy in a boat is to turn over is to put it in forward an step on the prop because u have to have the drive in forward to get the drive off an if it’s an Alfa but if it’s a bravo out drive it has to be in neutral

Jeff be carefull with the cover ! It's worth more then the boat !!
Love that line, the cover holds water. Wonder if the boat holds water.
😁😁😁
Jeff and the Boys would love to see ur plans and watch the building being built wat can i say i am a guy i like that shit lol. U guys r killing it man thanks for these longer vids really enjoy them and hell sometimes we learn alittle too at 10:56 this reminds me of a version of ROADKILL
Well now to see how much soaked through
You guys struggled the way I did when I did till it came to me to lower the front jack as low as I could to get the correct angle to slide outdrive right in lol you can go further by putting block under ball hitch to get even lower if needed. Keep up good work. Hope to see you guys this summer at npk
Can yall do a short walk around of the trans am. I've seen it in several videos. But no video of it. Love the content.
If good intentions made for good results...
I can't remember how many times that I have heard that saying...
Things looked so good at the start
I don't look as nice as the boat ya'll were on down under in Australia! Lol 😊
You can tell how good of a father Jeff has been to these boys by how well they work together. You guys are crushing.
Man, I love watching yalls videos from the 405! Lutz Sr. Kept saying, Jeffery is gonna shit!😂
It never had the out drive on it
When you remove the outdrive it needs to be in forward gear on the shifter
I hope u get on a good fast team this yr,just stay away from the lower end of the 405. Good luck.
Baja’s are fun boats 😊
Lutz Jr., great job on the boat engine, Dad gave you an early Christmas 🎄 present, so cool 😎 and good luck on piping that exhaust, first time, yikes 😳. Your smart and you got an elder brain 🧠 with two young brains to work with, it should work out if you don't rush the job. Thanks Lutz family on another amazing video 📸
Jeff I love to mow too finf a good time to think...😂
The Baja is a much better fit !! I talked to some , should have watched the whole video !!
Now that I watched the rest of the video , that other boat makes sense !!
Why you guys are officially boat mechanics I still can't wait for the 57 to come back are you guys doing the wiring
Boats!!! An empty hole in the water that you just pour money in to! Lol 😂
IMHO an I/O drive is a ton of work for little return. A 21' mini or day cruiser with a v-8 would have much bigger returns.
Well Jeff imma put it in the comments 😂😂
Don't like seeing A$$ crack!!!!
But on a side note LOVE watching you guys do anything at all you guys make everything look easy!!!😂😅😂😅😂😅😂
Keep doing what you do!!!!
If your crack isn't showing are you even working hard enough?
@@picklefart What the Hell is a pickle fart???
glass/resin any exposed wood when your cutting around the transom or any of the stringers!!!!!!
You created a floating smoke machine! If this one floats..
Lutz marine !!
I think a 23 pitch tempest prop would work good on the boat
Toilet bowl cleaner will get the scum off the bottom . I've used it on mine. Works great . Let it set on there for about 15 minutes
I like that you didn't make 13 videos of getting motor and pulling motor then putting inn like most would. Started a swap and finished in 1 video other than the finishing touches and it will be water ready.
Merc makes a alignment tool to align the motor to the outdrive you have to do that or you will tear up the coupler you can't just eyeball it
The one beside that motor was probably a mag vortec style heads. Would of been a lot better
B O A T = Break our another thousand!
Jeffery wants capts choice exhaust
Pep boys has longblocks much easier to get then the anchor ⚓ to the outdrive could be the reason why the motor doesn't spin jyd got a 302 that was not locked up it was the outdrive
It's alive
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I need that trailer
Mr. Lutz Where in western Penn. are you just general aria . my dad was from Greensberg , mon from latrob
Thought you sai that motor was a 5.7 thats only a 260 I'm sure it will still be badass in his boat.
a 260 is a 5.7
When do you’ll pick up the GTO is it soon
BOAT: = "Bust Out Another Thousand"
👌🏻
Oh ya Jeff the 4.3 has a different ratio out drive so if it’s the same outdrive on Jeffery boat I’d switch the drive that’s on the boat because u need a 1.50 ratio drive for a 350 or a 260 MerCruiser
Mercruse has a exhaust system called silent choice
Cam does have a lot too do with it if duration over laps it will suck water in unless you run full fry headers or enclosed wet exhaust witch start at probably 7500.00
I will talk that boat off your hands after your done with it
#lutzracecars
am i the only one at the begin of the video while he was backing up the boat I leaned left in my chair to see how much room was on the left hand side?
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
I’m with Jeff, shut up Ben, he told you so! JK!
Just my two cents, what about jacking the boat & trailer up.
Jeff the track in Colorado is closing down after the 23 season did you know that
You guys are awesome boat crew through it in quick I'm from the great lakes and I've done three in my life 1st one took me 4 fucking days.the last 1 took 5hrs fuckin A brother
