Tks Earl. i would like to see the occasional drum cover lesson. Pick a song and show the sticking. As far as ask earl i would just do the show as u gather questions from your viewers. no need to have a particular schedule. its obvious that u did a good job teaching your Grandson how to play...would love some of this knowledge
Earl, i am also a big gear geek, especially when it comes to cymbals. You could do episodes on a particular snare, or ride, or hi hat. The history if the item to you and the drumming world. What albums it was on and who all played that model. Thatd be cool. Would be kind of gear and history related.
Hi Mr. Earl: I used to be a dedicated Ludwig player. About 15 years ago I started to notice that the Japanese drums, just like their Cars were a better product for the money. I now own 2 beautiful TAMA Kits that I couldn't be happier with. I have long wondered if Sonor drums are really the best, and worth the extra money. You never see them at the Music store so you can compare yourself as a consumer, and Musician. What are your thoughts on my question?🥁
@@stevenpurdy2235 thanks for watching Steven! I’ll try your question on my next Ask Earl Anything show! It’s a great observation! Thanks for watching and your thoughts! 🙏🏻😎👍🏻🥁
LOVE ME SOME AEA!!!!!!!!! With the drops, .... I think it'd be kind of a game as to what works best for the sized tom. Your demo on the 14 w/ the 120 and the 200 comparison makes the difference. Matching the diameter of the drum along w/ the gram weight drop is the key! Great show Earl! 🥁😎👍
I agree with you Jeff! I bought 3 more 60g weights for the toms. I think the 40g work better on the smaller toms 10” and below. The 200g it quite extreme for small toms and even some snare drums sounds. Thanks for the feedback my friend!
Thank you for the show and answering my question. I'd watch revisited videos with commentary like in old dvds. Voice over your old covers and expand on the great descriptions you've written. But im also highly interested in gear and stylistic choices for each cover. Thanks again!!!
Thanks for the feedback and ideas Vince! I’d love to know any video you think is worth of greater analysis? That might help me get started! I like your ideas! Thanks!
Great show EB! Thank you for answering my question! I find that I have to detune my snare, since it’s so tight to get the phat snare sound with the ring on it. I think I’ll try your tip to detune a lug or two prior to placing the ring on it. I think I might get the drops too! I like the AEA once a month.
Thanks for the feedback Mickey … I usually have my snare at a medium to medium low pitch when I use the big phat ring! That will probably work better for you … detuning a lug! Thanks for watching Mickey! 🙏🏻👍🏻😎
From what I’ve observed about cover drummer channels in particular, is that the successful content providers rely on other kinds of content to grow their channel. Some cover drummers will do interviews, reaction vids, product reviews, instructional vids, shorts, or in my case commentaries or rebuttal vids. In other words, they don’t rely solely on their drum covers to grow their channel.
Clearly that is what I did to grow my channel. But my channel is about me having fun and drumming is fun. Growth came because many drummers enjoy my songs choices, my drumming abilities, and my ability to chat about drumming. I think the amount of content put out each month also helped me grow my channel. Thanks for the feedback Matthew!
Hi Earl, I think it's a fantastic Idea to make "Concepts" series of emphesising ideas and approaches of your drummer influences.. for example Jim Gordon , Jeff, Keltner, Purdie ect.. their approach to time, timekeeping, fills, grove, feel, what were their strong points or low points, what to listen, on what to focus.. maybe by showing examples of theirs and how to incorporate it into your own playing.. 😀 ask Earl anything should be done often and not that we all have to wait for a month to get our questions answered.. 😂 p.s my question would be, have you ever encountered a drum set that completely blew you away of how good it was? And what do you think which drum set would have a "fast response" by that I mean if you even don't touch it with sticks, but just tap it with fingers on the skin they immediately respond.. I mean the sensetivity wise..
For next AEA. Ive mostly taught kids from about 10-16yrs old. Someone wants me to teach their 5 yr old. How differently would you approach such a young student? Thanks again!
I appreciate that Brent! I have found for the studio recording that some muffling works best. I like having a good drum sound to use before mixing techniques are used. Especially on the snare drum! Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻😎👍🏻
Thanks for another great AEA Earl! I think the current model (once a month) works really well, but if you feel like doing two, go for it! Rock on! 👏🔨🥁
