Equip Shiva and put mastered Gouge on one slot and Diamond Dust on the other. When he is on the ground, use the O ability to slide and freeze him for enough of a window to do a full round of Gouge and then Diamond Dust. Survive long enough to do this twice and you will stagger him. Once staggered, pop a strength potion>limit break>Lightning Rod>Gigaflare and you will do nearly 100k damage in a single stagger round. Throw in some Titan abilities for additional damage. When he is back up, repeat the stagger strat but pop a Lionheart Tonic to refill the limit break while you get through is stagger bar.
Very effective strategy! I was using Titan, Odin, and Bahamut to brute force him, but this parsimonious strategy to wipe out mobs was getting me killed against the big guy. Dragon has too much stagger health, so Gouge and Diamond Dust really work well even without Str Up potions! Upgraded Gigaflare, Windup, Judgement Bolt, and Pile Driver smash him when staggered.
idk why but given how much capcom this game snuck into it w the asuras wrath eikon fights and the dmc combat this thing gives off massive safi vibes from mhw:ib even the fight music for it gives me monster hunter vibes
Took me 3 tries but I managed to kill it with barely any HP left. My method was dodge like crazy (with Berserker Ring equipped) then slowly chip at it. It hits hard but its attack pattern is pretty easy to follow.
Agreed. Beat him on my third try as well at level 40. Once I memorized his pattern he was much more manageable. His attacks were doing 1.2k so I had no choice but to dodge everything I could 🤦🏾♂️
I fought this thing at level 40 and I got lucky triggered my limit break while it had a sliver of health, while it was doing it's super move (bonus points for beating while taking care of twin newborns simultaneously).
This dragon was a fun fight , if he hits you once almost dead haha. Lots of dodging seems like a boss in ff 14 well multiple bosses so it was easy for me I was level 39
Had pheonix, titan, bahumut at lvl 41 and it still took me using all 6 of my potions all 4 high potions and 2 elixirs to beat this guy. I had to redo my build twice as I died 3 times. Great boss fight
Garuda, Titan, and Bahumut for me and those three carried me to victory lol (Garuda is for when the monster was at half stagger to grab it for extra stagger damage) and that flare attack that Bahumut has tracked it and got some good damage while I avoided the attacks
Pretty easy if you titan counter the melee hits, the only real danger is the beam that trails on the floor, that thing does like 2k damage and can combo with other attacks.
I got through the first half without taking damage, then i misjudged the dragon dance and took 2 fireballs and the explosion and died before i could heal.....man
Yes happened to me too at random when you go too far from the battlefield monster turns and fully healed and with Svarog it felt like unbeatable wile he can oneshot us and unexpectedly fully heal Whats Final Fantasy Mode NG+ got in store?

That's Safi' Jiiva 😂
That was my first thought when he showed up.
Safi' Jiiva/Smaug. Lol. Awesome design/boss fight tho.

Coolest/challenging boss hunt I've ever fought in ff16. Wish they gave us a unique weapon/gear for its drops.
Yes you expect better loot after that fight legandary sword but the new one has 5 more attack like the Katana when i get it its already obsolete
I died in this fight twice before beating him the 3rd time. What an epic boss hunt 😆
Yes took me a few times too he can turn the tables on you just before you do the final blow health was jumping up and down

I think Svarog is the real boss of ff16 :-)
I started using ring of timely evasion from Svarog onwards.
First try with 300 hp left coolest hunt boss yet
Lvl 37

I faced it at 42 beat it first try but damnnn was it hard so much fun though
The moment this dragon popped on my screen i was like: Safi'jiiva!? WTF!?
This fight was so hard for me i died three times before i was able to beat him 10 lvls below
Currently fighting it 12 lvls under in pain send dudes
I bet with noob accessories.
The hardest boss in the game for me. I had to spam Shiva’s ability and keep freezing it.
I got through the first half without taking damage, then i misjudged the dragon dance and took 2 fireballs and the explosion and died before i could heal.....man
I also beat Svarog at level 39 but died twice before beating him 😅
38 for me lol
00:10 youre welcome
Monster hunter reference ?
I was about to kill him but my game glitched and the music stopped and he walked back to the middle of the arena and got all his health back
That’s…kind of hilarious
