All government uniforms (police, army, etc) should be made by Khmer employees and Khmer-owned factories. However, Khmer should be also well trained to produce them properly. As Khmer myself and one of a few experts in this industry in USA, I would suggest the below to Khmer who want to start this business: 1. Make Chino pants using stretch Chino fabrics. This kind of pant has less pocket and more formal. It’s more suitable for international market. 2. Each country has different body type, adjust the fit accordingly. 3. Use German threads (Gutermann) for higher quality. 4. Attend sewing machine trade shows to learn new techniques and machinery for garments production. 5. Outdoor activities clothings (camping, hiking, cycling, etc.) will be a big trend in the next few years. It will be a great opportunity. Start looking into it now. 6. Choose your brand name that is easy to remember, fit into international market, and has a meaning but optional. 7. So many free videos on TH-cam to learn from. 8. Search for NGOs in the country that offer free consultation.
Since this company is being exported to Thailand and planned to other countries, I would like to suggest to have QR code in its inner label in which facilitated to know all material details for customers as well information such as location or country is made. Therefore, the QR code is good for showing the features of the garment such as the quality of craftsmanship, the trims used (zipper, threads, etc.), the cotton fibers (combed, Pima, etc.), and highlight the machinery/technologies/skilled workers/leverage the poverty, etc.) I visited a few big garments factories in Cambodia 20 years ago and it was sad to see only a few Khmer employees holding higher positions. I hope things have changed since.
