Make a Spinning Toy Top on a Hobby Lathe - a beginner metal lathe project.

Excellent toy for the grandkids.
I am just a self-taught hobby bumbler. But I have been able to make these spinning tops on my lathe. Its an excellent beginner project that requires almost no precision.

What do you mean crush the cage?

You need to stop the bearing turning in the race or the top won’t spin. The balls are held in place by a “cage”. If you squash or deform the cage onto a ball it will stop the bearing turning.
