In my youth Danny’s sound and vision on Pentagle Basket of Life was like a treasure for me. To this day his Bass sound is to me unique. I love the story of how he acquired his amazing Bass. I’m very much looking forward to the film. With eternal gratitude! ❤️🎶🙏
So wonderful! Can't wait to see the whole film. As quiet as Danny is onstage, vocally, it seems he's maybe spent a great deal of his off-stage time shouting at football matches?
As a teenage musician, my memories leaving one of Pentangle early gigs was the bass player. The band were brilliant of course and maybe it was because I was a drummer, but the bass player made the biggest impression on me. I found out his name and it’s been popping up all through my life. It would be easier to list who Danny Thompson hasn’t worked with.
I would love to see this. Danny is an absolute legend...despite being a Chelsea fan. I love his playing on the live Tim Buckley album...Dream Letter - Live in London 1968. All his stuff with Pentangle and John Martyn. What a musical giant. Top geezer. Play on Danny.
I haven't heard any electric bass which created the emotions and colours that a double bass gives. It is Mr. Thompson who unlocks and releases the most emotions and sound colours from the instrument. It is no wonder so many musicians worked with him.
Love this man and his playing. Was also a huge fan of Bert’s (and then John Martyn) and after a Pentangle gig at Croydon Fairfield Halls my school chum and I were climbing into his beat up car in the multi-storey car park when the band appeared and clambered into a black van in the next space. I shouted appreciation for the concert and Danny stuck his head out of the back and said “We’re off to Ronnie Scott’s now, do you want to join us ?”. We were 16, had saved for the tickets, had little cash on us, weren’t sure if Ronnies would let us in, had no way of contacting our families to tell them we wouldn’t be home until the early hours and had school the next day, so declined. Always regretted that.
After being pointed to this utube channel by Lady Pentangle herself (swoon!🤩) this is the first thing I clicked on. Wotcher indeed!!! I’m in bass heaven at the Temple of Thompson!! Somebody pinch me!🤯
Hello - Mark Baxter here, producer of the Danny doc. We are having to self finance the film so all taking a bit of time, but all the interviews are done and we now in the editing stage. As to when it will be out, it is hard to say, but we are certainly working towards achieving that . Thanks for the interest.

@@moog37-j3b No problem. I spoke to Danny over Xmas and he was in good spirits. He is a lovely fella and yes very funny, There is a lot going on in the background with the film and it will get finished. Cheers for the support and we'll keep everyone posted when we can

@@themumper On the one hand it's amazing that someone should think up the idea of a documentary about Danny. But on the other hand it's bloody obvious that there's a great story to be told. I am so glad that you're doing this. I wish you all the luck in the world with this project. And I thank you for taking time to answer my question.
@@trevorhoward2254 Thank you for the kind words. In truth , Danny took a bit of persuading to do it, but once we got started I think he's enjoyed it. It will get finished and there is a lot going on in the background, so we'll see what happens next. Cheers
