Your reading is spot on!! Down to the issue with family and me really not caring and putting my needs and wants first. There is a guy my stepdad has known for at least 10 years who has been going through a custody battle for like 2 years. My mom told me about him for 2 years and I ignored it because I wasn’t ready. Some things happened in my life that gave me closure to the past and he and I happened to be at the same place 2 months later. Long story short, I don’t have direct access to him but he left an impression on me and my daughter who is 8. It’s HUGE in both aspects… she was able to describe his facial features to me 9 months later. We were at a get together of about 100 people aa d she recalled him and what he did in regard to her. Her father is the only person that has gotten my attention in 10 years beside this man. I could sense him next to me and the level of safety I felt from him was so off putting to me because of all the trauma I have been through that I froze. There has NEVER been a person that has made me feel that. I’m 40 and have been single for YEARS because it could only take something like that for me to allow someone into the peace I have worked very hard to create for myself and my Leo daughter. Long story short, I know he was interested in me but didn’t say anything because I had to abruptly leave and we haven’t seen each other since. I went to the same get together in hopes of seeing him and he wasn’t there. I finally told my stepdad that I was interested in him. He told me that he doesn’t want his friends talking to his daughters(other step daughter is 17 years married). I said “well what if it happened naturally and He told me “he has baggage, you don’t want him” then reiterated his first sentiment. So I asked “ok but he is a good man right?” He says yes and then reiterates his sentiment again. I sent the guy a facebook friend request today and am going to message him my number and tell him to call me. In normal circumstances I would have left it alone but not when there is song there between us that is so undeniable and when it comes to family ties that are complicated to say the least I’m going with my gut. We all have baggage at this age… that’s what life gives you whether you love it right or wrong. I want someone that can love myself and my daughter and treat us right. The way he looks me in the eye and doesn’t break the contact when I look at him, how respectful he is at all times and the way I saw him put my daughter before himself when I don’t think he knew I was standing there doesn’t happen every day or year even. It’s been a year since I’ve seen him which is the only reason I finally said anything. Just praying he sees my message with my number since it seems to be the only access we have to each other for now. I was really hoping for easy in my next relationship where my family is concerned and am honestly still taken back at his reaction. You want to call me your daughter but don’t want me to have a good man in my life because you know him. The guy has literally not had anything to do with that group of friends in the last year so… I only know because I overheard a conversation between them about it. Thank you for the reading!!!
