It's an interesting bit of water rich in history. It was originally a tributary to the river witham before being cut into a canal to give access to Sleaford by barge. The Sleaford end is now cut off by disused locks and in a state of disrepair. They do want to restore navigation but can't see it happening anytime soon.
I'm guessing it's pronounced as the French would pronounce eau for water. Strange though. Slow moving by the look of it, given the growth.
