This video is the true essence of David Brent. An essentially decent bloke who just wants the approval of others, often unfortunately to his detriment. It's why I'll always root for him.
+Bob Mob Not really. Brent was a narcissist who was happy to compromise the efforts and feelings of other people for his own benefit. I don't buy the benign explanation of his personality. He's a sad, petty, and occasionally quite nasty person. Which makes him all the better as character.
He teaches guitar like he manages an office... he doesn't, just uses the position to try and impress and he impresses like he manages and teaches: he doesn't. Fantastic and tragic, these videos are EXCELLENT!!!!!
oh my god, I just love him! that story at the start was quite sad, he buys all the rounds, hanging around with 20 somethings and lying to him about where they're going! awww poor david I love u haha
Guitar with Brent is just what i needed.......i've half way through Derek series tonight, i knew it was gona be touching thats why ive held off till now, but wasnt expecting it to be as powerful, so much of it is so personal to me i couldnt believe it, i cried like a baby and laughed my head off too... youve literally saved me more than once this last few years i just wish i could tell you my story, a genius is used far too often these days but for you its deserved. Thanks for the laughs.
Oh poor David! Running all over town trying to find the 'mates' who don't want to see him. These videos always make me laugh and feel sad at the same time. Absolute genius.
This is why I think Ricky Gervais is a genius. Even in a 5 minute clip he manages to slip in a little bit of sadness and pathos, as I genuinely felt bad for Brent as confesses to basically allowing himself to be used and buying all the ale for "the lads" in return for reluctantly being allowed to hang out with them. It's a great snapshot into Brent's loneliness and longing to be accepted, and he's painfully aware of it. Then a minute later you're pissing yourself laughing at the song. Cheers!
This is superb, just superb. David Brent intrudes upon the world of Mel Bay. Genius level comedy and undercurrents of heavy pathos. The music is shockingly catchy too.
It is a very British sense of humour and it's unique in the fact that it's very self-deprecating and very subtly sarcastic. A lot of other nations/people don't quite understand it.
Ricky Gervais is sooo talented not just as a comedian but in so many other things ie music etc. He is a true animal activist and speaks out against animal cruelty which has earned my respect hands down and he backs it up by being vegan. Ricky is so INTELLIGENT! You should listen to him discuss serious issues on astrophysics and other brilliant topics. Also, he is just a nice guy period.
so, so great....................and touching too. I have met blokes who always buy the drinks to be liked..it's sad and tragic. Brent is one of the greatest charachter creations ever made...superb.
You are a God, that's the best one yet, probably, actually I always think that so it's probably as good as the other ones, but sitting here in my car by the M25 (topical) and just about to go to work, it seems like the best one yet. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. I think it is. Probably.
it doesn't matter, its the Ricky Gervais Channel. He could still appear, probably. I loved the podcasts, it could be a real nice side thing to do when they're not doing work, who could forget great moments like where karl laughed, or when ricky told us some bollocks about spider island, or even when steve told us how to how to deal with Charity Tunics. Good times, Good times.
Went to far in the back of a car..next one is gonna be a classic:-) still cringe cry laugh and feel my jaw drop, for me I'm amazed that this character can still shock well done our Rick/David
I used to be in an office band (before all band members were made redundant...ironic) and my boss was the singer/guitarist and apart from the tie he IS David Brent. He's now going to Nashville to break into the Country music industry!! Recording his own songs just like 'Life on the Road' Fucking hilarious.....
The David Brent of Life on the Road is a far different character than the one of seasons one and two of the office. While he was never nasty, the ‘you’re shit ah’ of the first series was by a very different character to this
This video is the true essence of David Brent. An essentially decent bloke who just wants the approval of others, often unfortunately to his detriment. It's why I'll always root for him.
***** you do know he's a fictional character, right? just checking.
***** i think i misunderstood your original comment. apologies.
***** cool brah
+stonem001
"crushes throat with the Force'...apology accepted'"
And you call Brent a man-child.
+Bob Mob Not really. Brent was a narcissist who was happy to compromise the efforts and feelings of other people for his own benefit. I don't buy the benign explanation of his personality. He's a sad, petty, and occasionally quite nasty person. Which makes him all the better as character.
This character makes me laugh out loud but breaks my heart at his loneliness....truly brilliant Ricky, yet again!!
First 3 minutes are utter genius, Ricky gervais's acting, writing and directing skills summed up!
eh..pretty standard. what else would he say
"they avoid me sometimes" ...." I'll find them" lol
I watch this at work every Friday... Never gets old
Never has my heart been so broken by a smiling man...
He teaches guitar like he manages an office... he doesn't, just uses the position to try and impress and he impresses like he manages and teaches: he doesn't. Fantastic and tragic, these videos are EXCELLENT!!!!!
Thank you Ricky , you’re getting me through a really tough time , Laugh , Love and Hope xox🤟🍷🌻
Same
The fact that you released this on a MONDAY made me chuckle quietly to myself.. David Brent the original LEGEND!!
Awww the thing about paying for people drinks is so sad.
Even the title had me in stitches, what is this magic you have Ricky?!
♥
that nod at the end, gets me everytime
This song is pure genius...love the chord progression...you sure have a very unique style
oh my god, I just love him! that story at the start was quite sad, he buys all the rounds, hanging around with 20 somethings and lying to him about where they're going! awww poor david I love u haha
That thing he does with his lips, gets me every time
I love that awkward laugh he makes
The best part about these videos is that he doesn't actually teach anything.
+nathan papp hey, i learned somethin @ the freelove freeway
+Xeno
Didn't we all mate, didn't we all. Crazy days....Crazy days
+nathan papp forget that part of the joke!
he teaches us a way of life.
nathan papp oh yeah, I just noticed that...
I always find 'em ...
They'll be somewhere...
The banter before this video is the best of any of them.
Ricky is such a genius.. I wish I could meet him someday.. I'd probably hug him ^^
Ricky is the greatest Englishman of modern times. Man's a genius.
This is genuinely a good track
Oh poor David! Running all over town trying to find the 'mates' who don't want to see him. These videos always make me laugh and feel sad at the same time. Absolute genius.
I'm from USA and I think Ricky is hilarious
Ricky Gervais is hilarious!!!

The downstrokes are real
Yea, and the jury's still out on the up strokes.
The subtle jokes are the absolute best. "I don't think I've ever missed one." Fucking brilliant.
Best pre song dialogue so far out of all these vids... I always find them
the best video so far. in this his playing is passionate and catchy and his banter is warm and funny
It's some quality banter.
Love the wink after the chord recovery..
This is superb, just superb. David Brent intrudes upon the world of Mel Bay. Genius level comedy and undercurrents of heavy pathos. The music is shockingly catchy too.
a bit of bass and a few drums and you have an oasis song
Sounds more Rolling Stones to me than Oasis.
+James Grange vocals are the stones I get you with that but he's right, guitar is definitely Oasis.
+Carson “sejayr” Ritchie Seriousl? try listening to some Stones it's more Stones to me but it's opinion but you can see where Oasis influence lies.
James Grange
the jam ,the beatles ..maybe?
ghuuhh bbbjjnbggghhgvvv --😮😬😬😦😬😦😦😦😦😦😦😦😦://:/^&2
I love the fact in this video Brent talks about needing more money, whilst holding a £500+ Martin Acoustic.
sure beats that other song about friday
There's more songs about Friday that there are in a month of Sundays.
Paul L I think we know to which song he's referring. No song can be worse than that. Can it?
Sue Mead Goodbye Ruby Sussie.
My first crush was a girl called Sue and I loved her mead.
Paul L
That's wonderful Paul L but my real name is not sue, nor mead. So sue me.
Are you dissing Friday I'm in love because I'll have you know that's the best Friday song there is
You forget how good a character Brent is, glad he's on the road again! Awesome.
Only a great character when gervais does it though
Every round, two nights a week hahahaha
Watching this in 2020. Who up
Another timeless classic from Brent, can't wait for a best of album
Way to rock those canines. Really enjoyed this one. Do you monitor yourself while you record these? Facial accents are priceless.
Best video yet, brilliant!
love the facial expressions!
Perfectly fine here. And thank God it is proper audio quality. Most other channels (although they appear professional) have very distortet audio.
I'll find 'em. That bit made me cry.
the thing is if David Brent was real and The Office was real he'd have plenty of people wanting to hang out with him... you know... yeah?
It was a real office! Where they filmed it was an actual real office block
It is a very British sense of humour and it's unique in the fact that it's very self-deprecating and very subtly sarcastic. A lot of other nations/people don't quite understand it.
"I find 'em"
Those first few minutes are incredible. Properly Partridge-esque [should be a real word]
:)
love his little nod at the end
Nice to see a bit of progression in Brent's attitude- lovely portrayal
Wow. I never realized how beautiful of a rhyme day/friday can be.
Legendary as always.
And there's the album title, surely? "ROCK-A-DOODLE-DANDY" I'm buying it.
Thank fuck its Easter, Ijust love them chocolate eggs and watching Ricky!
my dad is 60+ and hes fucking crazy. living young and wild still. they are out there just not many.
i'm thinking david should be the opening act for noel Gallagher's new gigs!!! brilliant!
The way he laughs always gets me the most
"They'll be somewhere. I'll find them." lol
There ARE people like this, man.
He makes awkward look easy pure genius 😁.

Brilliant as always, mr Brent just wants to be wanted and liked, it's an act but is so brilliantly portrayed by Ricky.
Love you, David
Love to see ya back on the road playing this Ricky, ie in Grimsby lol
Rock legend.
so Much Better Than Rebecca Black.
"Who's round is it?? .. Get em in Brenty, .. I'll have another pint of lager".
so, so great....................and touching too. I have met blokes who always buy the drinks to be liked..it's sad and tragic. Brent is one of the greatest charachter creations ever made...superb.
Why is this man so funny? I'm so glad that I clicked this video.
You are a God, that's the best one yet, probably, actually I always think that so it's probably as good as the other ones, but sitting here in my car by the M25 (topical) and just about to go to work, it seems like the best one yet. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. I think it is. Probably.
Aye, it cheered me up for a moment until I realized that it's only Monday :(
I have learned so much from this instructional series.
Tbh as funny as is is, is is something i could totally imagine Liam Gallagher/Oasis singing
I don't think I've ever seen four 'is's in a row in a sentence before...you take the trophy
+liamstig14 Brent would be proud
+Sam Cane Without a doubt😄
+liamstig14 it's typical Brent really. Goes to make a funny comment that could potentially work but fluffs it
+Sam Cane Hahaha that's very true, I watched the film today and Gervais liked my tweet
Wake up Sunday feeling Saturdays pain. That’s a fucking lyric my man
I teach Brent to my children.
I hope there will be soon a cool music road-movie with a nice soundtrack!

His tunes are actually pretty good
The camera switch in the intro still gets me.
Please don't go, man!
This place won't be the same without you.
Absolutely brilliant, well done once again Mr Gervais!
Sun is shining in Slough right now. David Brent mashing it up.
Ironically, you are the reason why this is so fun.
The 'hi' in the intro gets me every time
Story of Ricky...keep kickin' ass.
Gervais was once in a pop group, you know!
Went to far in the back of a car..next one is gonna be a classic:-) still cringe cry laugh and feel my jaw drop, for me I'm amazed that this character can still shock well done our Rick/David

I think this is literally the first time I have ever heard David swear.
love the "you cant do this" intro
The David Brent of Life on the Road is a far different character than the one of seasons one and two of the office. While he was never nasty, the ‘you’re shit ah’ of the first series was by a very different character to this
I am so ready for this.
the laugh he does always gets me.
'Never failed to entertain' I think that is true of David Brent. I think he would want it on his headstone.
Slowly, but surely, I'm realizing I'm never going to learn guitar from these videos which I do so love!
He's tuned down a whole step just to throw us off....using D, but it's in the key of C.
Awesomeness!!!
He does FANTASTIC songs, fact
"I can't believe you're fi- forty or whatever..."
Ahahahahaha that laugh is still funny all these years later
Brutal, as always David
He's such a good actor.
