I was recently keeping busy during lockdown by installing some new shelves for my Marvel Legends figures, now that I've got a clear space for Spider-Man villains I'm gonna have to get this figure and the Marvel Select Rhino for that display, seeing as if they scale alright I'm fine with mixing Marvel Legends and Marvel Select figures and they're the only versions I can afford. Also kinda funny that I was the 616 like for the video about a classic Marvel villain.
All in one box!....and you don’t have to troll eBay for years for a deal on the Legends BAF lol!...If someone could do a custom head for this with the screaming face I would definitely pick that up.
The regular hands are meant to look like he’s having to concentrate to keep them looking normal (in the comics and the movie he has to concentrate to keep normal human form)
@TheBd62 I get where you are coming from but if he was designed to go with marvel legends why would he be in the marvel select line. Also you didnt design the figure
@@veggiepakora5302 im not implying that he's a part of the marvel selects line. Im saying he was probably designed -at the design level, (not the manufacturing level, or thw business level ) to fit in with both lines. That mean the designer who physically sculpted the toy decided to make it a certain height, and that hight was chosen because he would fit in with either line (he actually fits in better with legends then selects) he could have been made much bigger if the designer didn't want people to be able to buy him and display him with legends.
Awesome, I never got the whole BAF so this works just fine. Def agreed on the hands thing, dunno why they couldn't give at least one extra opposite sand hand.
This review has convinced me to get this guy and sell the BAF. The BAF was cool and all but I like the overall look of the select alot more. Those accessories look great. Plus I'm almost certain someone is going to shrink the BAF heads anyway and those will look great on this guy
Face sculpture is great, a lot of emotion even if is a poker face, it remind me to spiderman 3 sandman, because he is mostly sad on the film, its a tragic portrayed version and i love it, and also jean st jean its a really fantastic scultor, he made venom and carnage select figures too
Loved the review, curious if you do any modding to that midsection and even the neck joint. He does looks pretty awesome, definitely a little wonky for reasons you point out. But yeah I don't want every fig from the different lines to look the same so I am for different as long as it's still a good fig. I am behind a tad on my xmen and Spidey selects but I do still try to pick them up. I love buying old ones too if I can find for a good price and keep in package on the wall, lots of my grails are old Selects. Some grails still would be the Watcher, Sinestro, and the variant Genis vell with the star paint.
I feel at the very least, Diamond Select should’ve made the fist sand hand for the right hand and the open sand hand for the left hand instead of giving the figure two left sand hands. But they still gave this figure the important accessories for a Sandman figure. Definitely gonna use this as my Sandman in my Spider-Man display. Great review once again!
I've seen some customizers heat up their MS Venom and Colossus figures and dremel out some material inside the upper torso to make that joint work better; if you're brave enough, that might be something to try with Sandman as well! Totally understand if not, though, I haven't done it to my Venom yet because I'm sure I'll somehow screw it up, haha.
That comment about them being able to do a lot better with Green Goblin makes me wonder. Just my view > It's the definitive version. Beating out the Toy Biz Legends, and the last Legends one. I just love the face; and it's hunched-over, posed nicely on the glider. So just wondering how they could do a lot better with it?
I wanna see a customizer use suitable legs from a marvel legends figure to go with the upper portion of sandman. Would the hydroman legs be a good fit for this sandman?
@@Retrophoria Good point. Thanks for pointing that out to me! And reminding me of how commonly they drew people when these characters were first created... Anyway, Thanks!
Great review as always.. I'm gonna paint the heck out of this figure... One big matte or even flat clear will do it for me.. My eyes can't stand the fact that it's too shiny.. I'm also gonna resculpt the accessories cause it looks disgusting. It's one of those phobias, forgive me..
@@anonymousraw4116 Paint wise, I can use Tamiya Clear Matte or Flat finish (you could use any paint as long as it's OK for the plastic of the figure) For the accessories, I have milliput (it's self drying epoxy putty just in case you didn't know).. There are videos here on TH-cam about customizing action figures using Milliput..
Not a fan of screaming faces if there is not a neutral alternative, so for me this is perfect. Also, the fact that you cant have hasbro Sandman in a regular form, gives extra points for the Marvel Select. Is pretty dumb the same people that complain because Beast has a screaming face, is the same complaining for sandman not having a screaming face. Fuck millennials...
That toy biz sandman is terrible😖 Damn.....the build a figure looks to cartoony” but the Select is more real life like, & should of came with the big Brick block hand that came with build a figure.🤷🏽♂️ But it’s the best one.👍🏽 I just picked him up for my collection. Nice clip tho”( shout out from Las Vegas🎰👊🏽
I think I remember reading a rumor somewhere years ago that Steve ditko or some other early spiderman artist had naturally curly hair and a windows peak. And so that why he gave that style to his characters. It the same with the guy who created the modern look for green arrow (Danny o'neal I think?) He had a bushy goatee and so that's why he gave Arrow one.
This is what Hasbro should have done on their Marvel Legends Cannonball, but instead, they gave us a blast effect and just a half of a figure.
💯🎯
diamond select has been KILLING IT recently
That new thanos. Cool. Except smart hulk. Sandmans. Cool.
Diamond select is doing really good with there figures recently.
I agree. They have had some hits recently
DMC Art their*
Fuck off Dreadd

Sandman's expression on his face looks like he just call a phone call from a number he don't recognize.
Yeah yeah
Can’t wait to get mine and pose it with my mafex spider man. Im sure it will be a banging video bro. New subscriber here.
Best sand effect I’ve seen, I wish it came with a sand face.
Great figure. Look how easy it is to change out the legs with the bottom sand base..if only Hasbro could have done that with Cannonball! 😳
I missed out on the Sandman BAF a couple years back and I think this will definitely be a suitable replacement.

It's a nice figure, but the cons: the face expression, the regular hands look like gloves and the sand fist is just for one side
Yea the regular hands look really weird

@@hugeackman8182 ohhh that makes sense now. It would also explain the face expression
Can you do a (who did it better) with the other sanmans
So... you gonna mod that mid torso joint and let us know how it goes right?
Should be good. I took his advice and did it with spiderman and it worked a-ok.
amazing review thanks for the height comparison!
He was definitely designed to work with legends and smaller figures which is awesome! This guy is a must buy

Might be the first Select I pick up in years 🤔 like the scale, and dont mind the slouch

I came here to see the scale side to side to the Marvel legends baf, i didnt now if you did it or not, you did it, you're the best
Diamond select would make a great cannonball figure
Definitely dope. Gonna try to get it.

Sweet! I hope it was helpful!
We all know he going to make a toybiz vs marvel legends vs select, OH YEAH
I’m gonna keep my ML and skip the MS but still an awesome fig !
Yeah if you have the Legends one you are probably set. Both good figures though.
I love your photos at the end of the review's, but don't worry.. i always watch from start to finish 😀. I always look forward to the end tho👍🏽
Best sandman fig available
Not for nothing but they could have just given the open sand hand for the right, that way we got sand hands for both sides.
For sure that would have been just fine.
Dang bro I still love my Toy Biz Flint. Nice review though. Always dig your point of view.
Great review!
Wade what if they made a hydro man
Oh man that would be dooooope!
Man I dont really care about action figures but I enjoy ur channel
Lol
That is an odd one, you don't like action figures yet you like it, how could that be? This channel is all about action figures
This is amazing..
this one is by far the best

I definitely want this
He's nice with ML head
Is it too early for a comparison video between this and the Marvel Legends figure?!
Surprisingly, I like this figure more than ML BAF Sandman when comparing them together ...
Any customizer out there who modded the legs of Select Sandman?
mine was stiff as hell. was afraid id break
it
Soak it in some warm water and try to break it in slowly.
Could the marvel select lizard scale with marvel legends?
Can his torso joint be upgraded like DST Mark 50 you did?
Hey! Did you modify torso? I want to do it at mine and want see how you do it
What figure do you use for your intro?I'm pretty sure it is the figma captain america, but i dont really know
This is what marvel legends should’ve done with cannonball
I want Diamond select to make a hydro man
BlueGill Giggle..Not sure if they could top the new legends one
I don't mind the head.... But it really reminds me of Norman Osborn... Like, ALOT
Connor McCutcheon I think they just look alike in the comics because this head is pretty accurate to sandman.
