Start of the game: crab smacking other crabs with fork because taxes. End of game: the manifestation of all the death caused by human negligence screaming at you in pain and rage as it slowly rips itself apart trying to end you.
Jesus, this boss. While i was playing i was like "Huh? i cant attack it" then it took me way too long to realize it was ripping itself apart. Damn. this game is incredible.
Such a wonderful ending to this boss fight, and a very impactful message. Not only was having the “final boss” be a giant Siphonophore at the bottom of the ocean an amazing choice, having the creature be so furious about the state of the world that it literally rips itself apart trying to kill you was sad. It was painfully aware of the state of the world it was born into, so much larger then one creature, but Instead of directing that anger towards the ones in power, like Kril does, it stewed at the bottom of the sea, growing angrier and angrier but never managing to turn that fury into something productive. And so it dies at its own hand, alone and enraged.
And because it is a siphonophore that means it tearing itself apart is like separating each individual organism that makes the whole thing. Literally anger dividing individuals.
Even a thousand voices unified cannot scream forever to a universe that cannot hear or care. The one becomes many, the will not to fall wanes, until eventually a thousand desperate souls die, screams harmonized in equal parts hate and fear and sorrow, as the spiral swirls ever onwards.
War theory for the boss battle. What is it is the spirit of the ocean there’s a line it screams in its final phase it screams “feel her pain” couldn’t be referring to mother nature, and the pain is referring to is pollution
Bonus theory the boss has similar colors as those weird things at the bottom of the ocean if you go near the red light, you can see faint screams. Those are the workers that wanted to capture our protagonist button instead died
“Doesn’t this pain just boil you inside? Doesn’t it make you want to SHUCKING SCREAM!?” I did NOT expect a game about a cute cartoon crab to get this emotionally real. This boss was wild
Can relate. A fate worse than death, with death being a a hopeful final rest for the broken and destroyed. Few can understand, fewer even, really experience that level of agony and rage. I felt that pain, and this boss hurt. It was way too real
This song opens so.... not sweetly exactly. Tragically maybe. In such contrast to the harsh noise of the track before it. It makes me realize I'm not actually sure I heard this music. I was too terrified, trying to survive. And then angry. Even though I realized it was killing it's self... I wanted so badly to hurt it. Somehow now I feel sad I never heard the music.
I like how the music dies down as you dodge Praya Dubia’s onslaught. As if it’s anger is dying down as it slowly dies almost coming to acceptance with the world…
Even more thoughts. If you want to read lore, check out Voltai and Praya Dubia's themes. So Praya is a giant siphonophore made of millions of microorganisms, probably even billions with how huge they are. Since her spawn all listen to her, she's the owner of a hive mind. And she destroys herself here, scattering her voice across all of her spawn. She was the only one that could even briefly have an outet for the sheer amount of rage, and she killed hersefl trying to kill you. If you didn't kill all the umami crabs/umami crystals, she's in their heads still, and still alive... Just unable to do anything. She is angry, and because of that anger she doomed herself to suffer for eternity. She refused to help others, and gave in to her rage, encouraging Kril to do the same. And that anger seperated her into nothing. In the end, Kril did what she wanted him to do... He got angry, and sped up the ocean's cycle. And it hurt everyone he cared about. I realy hope Praya Dubia isn't actuslly dead. Her monologues go hard and she's just so cool, speaking for the ocean ti the player, not to Kril about their inaction. Wherever Praya is, I hope she receives peace. She's been suffering for far too long, anyhow...
I have to say, Kril only ended up destroying New Carcinia because he didn't notice the Whorl was about to break. Of course, he could have noticed if he wasn't caught up in his rage. The message I got from the game is that rage is destructive, but sometimes can't be helped, as rage is also a desire for justice. Kril realizes this, and in the epilogue, uses his rage to protect others. Rage is a good thing, as long as you use it for something good. also... "villions"?
i had never heard of feasley before this game and my god idk if you'll see this among the sea of other compliments but please never stop cooking. This track is so tragic especially paired with Praya Dubia's voice acting. Bravo!
Was very confused when she died after i didnt hit her once. I was so focused on dodging all the overwhelming attacks that i didnt even see her health bar going down on its own
I tried killing her with the gun, and i couldn't do damage- but i thought I was "doing" damage so i kept shooting. Only now as I read the comments I realize that it wasn't me killing her, it was her killing herself.
Did you know that “Praya Dubia” translates to “Dubious Prayer” from Latin? Or that it’s just the actual scientific name of the real creatuare it’s based on?

Such a cool twist on a what a second phase can be. An amazing song to match the moment.
*"DIE... WITH THE REST OF THIS OCEAN!!!"*
This song and the whole fight is incredibly fitting as a final boss, even with the actual final boss being immediately after this.

If you get the chance, you should play Aggro Crab's first game, Going Under! The OST goes just as hard as this one, and it's by Feasley too!
@@13mungoman13 oh I absolutely will once I 100% another crab's treasure
Feasley cooked on going under's ost too, just as hard as they did on here
The scream Praya Dubia lets out right at the end of the cutscene still gives me chills...
and to think the game is about Rage... and what you do withh it, either solves stuff, or destroys you and your surroundings..

I went into this game thinking "funny crab game", oh how wrong i was

Sounds like "game over" music to me
Perhaps thats what Praya Dubia thought the ocean was at. Game over.
this is 100% one of my favorit bosses in this game
