The data for the super sonic boss fight has been removed. Its NULLed out. When a game tries to access NULL data, (null is zeroed out data, that's what happens if the data is not present) the program gets confused. It has 2 options. 1. Crash. 2. Guess what data could be there. 2. is not possible, because there is no data to guess. This mostly gets fixed by coding some extra code that lets the program take other action when data is not found, like loading an earlier checkpoint.

i mean, i would think that the game is trying to call for the super sonic fight but since super sonic just doesn't exist it reads as null and the game doesn't know what to do so it just crashes. Makes you wonder why they didn't just remove giganto aswell and completely removing any way the game can reference it, I don't think it would have been that hard to replace giganto's spawning code with the "Thanks for playing" screen. sega def did not expect people to get that far lmfao
