Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words! I didn't change the tuners or the bridge because they seemed to work fine on the particular one I had. The setup was great and the tuning held very well, so I didn't find a need to. Follow your gut though, if you feel it needs it, go for it. I didn't do the mods myself. My buddy Neil at Atlanta Guitar Repair did the work. I just researched the electronics to find the sound that I wanted and bought the parts.
Man, you sound amazing! Great playing. It's great that its the player not so much the instrument that makes the music. You don't have to spend big bucks to sound killer.
Thank you! Here's what I did: *Shielded the control cavity and changed the pots *Upgraded to Nordstrand NJ5F Pickups and *Installed a Nordstrand 2B 9 volt preamp
@BigJnWorldWide I didn't have to do anything else to the body to get everything in. The preamp is pretty small and the battery just sits in there. I was actually surprised that there was enough room.
@0814NIK Yeah, sometimes you need a really good bass without having to spend an obscene about of money. This just seems like a great way to do just that. How do you like the vintage pups?? I'm actually thinking about modifying another one with a different configuration.
Man you killing it! Love it! A buddy gave me the same bass you have (4 string) that he found in a dumpster from a club that went out of business, along with a Squier Strat. They spray painted it, & I've got it sanded down nice, and am going to repaint it, The Nordy electronics are banging, just wanted to know did you change the tuners & bridge? I was thinking of upgrading those as well but wasn't sure what would be a good fit. Did you mod it yourself? Thanks for your time. Blessings
This is very similar to how I want my Affinity V setup. Did you have to hollow out the cavity any further to accommodate the 9v battery?i haven't taken mine apart yet. I'm planning to shield all the cavities dimarzios(undecided) and an undecided preamp. My wiring will be the same though.
Sounds great... and give yourself a little more credit, you're playing is pretty good. There are much worse bass players touring and getting paid for doing less. :)
great sound. One of the few modifications that actually make a bass sound better

@2000kbcarter Thanks! I really appreciate it!
At the time, I used a M-Audio Fast Track Pro to record the bass into Logic 9. Now, I use an Apogee ONE to record my bass.

How do feel about the Nordstrand NJ5FS bass pickups (humcancelling)
LOL I wish I can play like that, someday!!
I'm sure you can already do it!!!
Thanks a lot!!
Bridge 4.10", Neck = 3.965". This should be the standard Fender sizes.
thanks!
Thanks bro!!!
Let me know what you think.

what is the exact size of the pickup of this bass?
I have this bass in 4 string version
ese modelo es activo o pasivo??
Lo compré pasivo, pero he añadido un preamplificador Nordstrand.
So is the bass still passive ? Or did you make it active ?
@bedofrazorsqwerty Surprisingly, I've had little to no interest in the bass. I don't know why... I think the Squier name is scaring people away.
Impressive upgrade to a mediocre bass. Good return on your investment.
Thank you!
Thanks!
