    Hmm, I may need to order one of those pressure pot racks. Although I will only have 1 mold whenever it arrives, so not really all that important right now. Wish I would have realized much sooner that I had never got around to ordering the Sierra mold until I needed it, ugg. Ordered all the other blank label stuff, never ordered the actual mold LOL....OOPS, such as my life HAHA!!!

    Great video. I built a pressure pot last week, using a standard paint pressure pot, and made the usual modifications. For the connections I wrapped 2 layers of the white plumbing tape. I then filled the pot to 40 lbs and left it for 2 hours and came back to see if the pressure had dropped. It dropped to 15 lbs. so I have one or more leaks. Did you use the white tape or loktite and did you have any issues with leaks.

      Used white tape. If you use leak detect to find out if the leaks are in the joints or lid gasket.

      thanks for the info. I’ll try some sudsy water to find the leak(s)

    Hey Fred, I'm a new subscriber. What's the deal with No relief valve?

    • @fredwissen1305
      @fredwissen1305  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Denny Skerb we take a minimalist approach. Connections are mean points. We pressurize to the desired pressure. Shut the valve and disconnect the air supply. Pressure won't rise after that. Relief valves should be used. We have decided to minimize the connections though.

    what brand resin do you recommend? Im having trouble with cheap resin not curing hard after 1 week.

    • @fredwissen1305
      @fredwissen1305  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on what you are making and what your environment is like (temp, humidity, and accurate scale make a huge difference in curing time)

      If you buy Harbor Freight's pressure pot, then you will get a T shaped handle. Again, you will have to convert their pressure pot into one for pen blank molds.

    Great video. What is the brand of pressure pot?

    • @fredwissen1305
      @fredwissen1305  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have 3 pots from 2 different dealers. We have 2 Harbor Freight 2.5 gal paint tanks we converted. They work fine but have to tweak them to get them right and their pressure limit is 60# max. We also have a 5 gal California Air Tools tank that has an 80# limit. For a little more money, the 5 gal tank is much more solidly built. You can find the 5 gal pot on amazon for under $300.

    So what size labels do you use?

    • @fredwissen1305
      @fredwissen1305  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you watch the preparing clear cast labels, it shows more information on what labels to buy, but they are full sheet labels, and the images we create a sized according to the pen tube we apply them to, such as the Sierra are 1.33" x 2.25". All the sizes we use are listed on our label sizing templates page - ptownsubbie.com/products/label-sizing-templates

      Thanks Fred, I'll go checkout that video as well. Ahh, I see, those are the templates that you can buy. I have a few of them already for my most used pens...I really need to get out in the shop and play around with your casting system :).
