Fun fact: this album was recorded late at night for very cheap because Queen was used as the Guinea pigs for testing out new equipment in a studio. Took a long time and by the time this album was finished they were ready to record Queen2.

They tested a different studio, De lane Lea Studio. They did do a test at Trident as well but that was only for the songs, I Can Hear Music and Goin' Back. This album was not recorded to test the studio, but it was recorded late at night.

      seperate things
Dec 71 they were allowed to make a demo for free as payment for helping a new studio test their sound/recording.....
when they then got involved with Trident they also recorded for free if they were willing to record whatever hours paying artists werent using the studio which was normally very late or early hours
they recorded their first album 72 june to nov but couldn't get anyone to release it
trident then released it july 73
despite it only coming in at 24 they were still allowed to continue recording for their next album rec 73/74 Aug to Feb but still only in 'dead time'
this time it was released straight away in march
uk no 5 with seven seas at no 10 and they performed on tv TOTPs so they were now allowed more reasonable recording time at the studio for their third album
but yes by the time they did their second they probably had already had an idea or started working on some tracks for it such as finishing seven seas..

roger said during recording breaks they would sit at the windows and watch the prostitutes outside on the street during the night! as rightly said they were in the studio during the night on down time when nobody else was using the equipment 👑✊🇬🇧

    Wiki
Doing All Right" was written by May and Tim Staffell while in Smile. This is one of the few Queen songs to feature May on the piano. He also played his old Hallfredh[9] acoustic guitar on this track and on later tracks such as "White Queen (As It Began)" and "Jealousy". The band played this song as early as 1970, and it was notable as the band's first song Mercury played live on the piano. Staffell sang it when it was a Smile song, and Mercury tried to sing in the same manner when it became a Queen song.

Just like life, your in calm waters, then the rapids. That's life. By the way Freddie voice was just fine, he could hit those notes late in his life, hear exercise in free love, or don't try so hard on the innuendo album. Great reaction.

Brilliant reaction 😊This is a Smile song the band Roger & Brian were in before Queen they weren’t getting anywhere so broke up & Freddie persuaded them give it another go to let him be their singer and you could say the rest is history 😊😊 I love this song but prefer the Smile version with their singer Tim Staffell x

With Freddie’s voice, he also wasn’t smoking at this point. He voice was a little huskier after he started smoking.

    • @ZENOBlAmusic
      @ZENOBlAmusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Freddie's voice was not very high here, his voice became higher as he aged. Smoking did not have such a big effect on his voice.

Great reaction I love that you guys are doing this! Freddie's voice did change, but it is actually very deceptive. Freddie's voice became higher as he aged. His voice is actually not that high here, he just had a very bright and light sounding voice, it sounds higher then it is. As he aged, his voice became more powerful, full, heavy and rich. That fullness makes your voice sound lower then it actually is, Freddie sang higher in the 80's and 90's then the 70's. He is really one a very few people, who's voice became higher as he aged, usually your becomes lower.

Wow, really love this early Queen ride. Haven’t heard these songs a lot, but I am happy you are reacting to these songs. It makes Queen even more special for me. Such a versatile band, their catalogue is impressive i.m.h.o. Looking forward to more . Much bless and keep up the good work.

It was originally done by Smile. Brian and Rogers previous band with Tim Staffel as the vocalist. The song was wrote by Brian and Tim. When Tim left, Bri and Rog teamed up with Freddie. It's one of the first ever songs they did together and Freddie wanted to sing it in the style Tim did

  • @janetschulman7649

Tim and Fred were friends from art school and Freddie used to follow Smile. He wanted to be their frontman but Roger didn’t think he could really sing. Thought he sounded like a sheep baaing. Didn’t know he could also play piano. Brian played the piano parts on the first two songs. Then came Great King Rat. Then history was made. Fred changed their name and everything about the way they came across. TMI? If so. Sorry.

"What happened?" the words of someone discovering one of Queen's 'now your calm and expecting a relaxing song, lets wake you up' moments, not quite as good as the WTF is this about, or the stealth double-take lyrics, to be found on later albums.
Looking forward to your discovery of Freddie's fantasy world.
