I’m working through this because I’m looking for hope. I don’t feel like I’m going to heaven despite being a Christian most of my life. Since 2020, it’s hard to find hope. I had a daughter in 2020, moved to a new state, change jobs multiple times, my marriage isn’t great, I have no friends. I drink too much recently and can’t live my life as my wife wants me home all the time unless I’m working. Im miserable and sometimes suicide seems like a friendly idea to play with lately.
That was me one year ago in many areas you mentioned. By finally giving the title deed of my life over to the Lord after 40 years of being a Christian, I have found that rest, trust and hope found only in the Saviour. That is what my Christian walk missed for 4 decades. Sell yourself out completely. You won't be perfect. You'll still sin but your focus is always upon the will of God for your life in every action, word and deed. That is what worked and is working for me. It is all personal choice. We are not victims even though we are often victimized. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might putting on the WHOLE armor of God. You most difinitely won't be perfect but you'll be in a place of power being in the center of God's will.
Praying for you Jacob. Father take care of Jacob, give him the strength he needs, and the peace that he IS saved and going to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.

I bought the Heaven Book in 2005 after Mom passed..Now Dad went Home 3--18 and IM devastated once again..SO, Randy helps me with Heaven..I Miss Dad and MOM but I really know where they are and the BIBLE with Randy s help explains almost everything..Randy even wrote me a lovely note about Mom..ThankU Randy and Mrs. Randy 4 what You 2 DO..

Randy Alcorn is an amazing man of God who continues to make huge contributions to the Body of Christ. I am reading his 1994 non-fiction book "Deadline" right now. You know whats amazing is that when you read the revelation you realize that you are in that assembly in Gods throne room? We are actually part of that when you read this part of the bible you are reading a part where you are among those in Heaven glorifying God and watching the end time events on Earth. It's amazing!

What struck me most about this video was that anybody could have been dreading Heaven. I was fortunate, I suppose, to have been raised on a healthy diet of C. S. Lewis, whose imaginative (if not quite always Biblical) portrayals of Heaven in the Narnian novel "The Last Battle" and his book "The Great Divorce," as well as his imagination of an un-fallen world on the planet Venus in the book "Perelandra" always sparked in me a beautiful longing for my true country with Jesus. Randy Alcorn's book is so great! I give it as a gift often.
You should instead give the actual bible. Randys book isn't blessed or holy where the bible is blessed. You are merely glorifying Randy when you should glorify God and his word not someone elses view on Heaven. God said we lack the ablility currently to imagine and truly invision earth.
Anybody I would give it to already owns a Bible. I don’t give theological materials to unbelievers. However, there is nothing wrong with teachers who help interpret the Bible, as long as you check their teachings against the scriptures. I’m surprised you wouldn’t know that.

I enjoy thinking about what I will do in Heaven, thinking about laughing with Jesus Christ and my friends and family, enjoying all the wonderful beauty of Gods creation it makes a bad day at work "boring mostly" tolerable.

Very true but he just uses scriptures in his writings with some logical deductions that may or not be true. No personal testimonies of dying and going to heaven accounts which are iffy and should only be taken anecdotally.

Randy has helped explain numerous sections of scripture that talk about Heaven and used some personal intelligent deduction that may or may not be so. However I think we will be amazed at how much he does get right. Especially if the Holy Spirit is giving him insight into what's yet to come. My 11 year old daughter just went to be with Jesus on 7/30/19 and Randy has been a godsend to me in this time of great hurt. He discussions on Heaven through scripture have been a great joy to this grieving father. My daughter has seen the face of God and hugged the neck of Jesus. Praise God for people like Randy but most of all for Jesus who made it so my daughter could have a home of eternal peace. Satan will never harm her again.

In his book Heaven, I am trying to understand what it means when he says maybe the pleasures and intimacy we know will be fulfilled to some higher form. It is found in the marriage chapter.
Pleasures and intimacy does not have to refer to the sexual. We will be pure and forever sanctified. We will never again be tainted and defiled. We shall be saved forever -spirit, soul and body.
There have been around 108 billion people ever born. Currently there are about 8 billion people living on planet Earth now and Earth is considered overpopulated. Will the new Earth be large enough for all the people ever born? Which will be more than 108 billion by the time of the resurrection?
The entire world's population could live in the state of Oregon assuming a family of almost 8 living in a comfortable house and lot. Space won't be an issue, not to mention that we cannot assume that "heaven" is limited to 3D space. Also, there is the entire universe to be explored!! Space to live will never be an issue in eternity. Great question, btw!!

Paradise was Abraham's bosom and is now empty. Heaven is currently where the Pearly Gates are located; the New Jerusalem. It will hover over the earth during the Millennium and will be set upon the earth when the Heaven and Earth are created anew. So, any believer who dies in the Lord are currently in that heavenly city wherever it may be.

Also, I am not sure the floating city during the Millennium is accurate either. I have always understood eschatology to be as follows: All those who have passed away now are in Sheol. Think of any time you were excited about a project or event that you wanted to go on for hours and hours but you had to stop to sleep or rest, or eat or wait for the sun to come up again the next day. In the new Heaven you will not need to sleep or rest or eat. You can if you like but you can also pursue your hobby, book, travel or project to it's full completion. It will be pure joy. You will never be bored. You will meet and talk with your friends and relatives forever. At no cost or work or trouble. Your home will be set up for entertaining and solitude. With a beautiful garden. If you are a vintage or hot rod car collector: then your home will also be like Jay Leno's garage. If you are a book collector, than your library will rival the great libraries of the world. It is just that you will need an eternity to enjoy all of these things and God knows this. Fellowship with God means we will be co-creators with God in eternity. Our work and pursuits in Heaven will also be a prayer glorifying the Most High God. We will praise him everyday since the next day will continue to be better than the previous. He is indeed our generous loving Heavenly Father. So whatever heavenly adventure or pursuit you seek (sort of like Fantasy Island on TV) will be available in the new Heaven. Plus your mind and knowledge will expand in the new Heaven and you will continue to find and pursue new interests forever and ever. You will experience new stages and levels of development and communion with the Universal mind and all levels of love and emotions. Guides will help you in all these areas. Heaven will be like Disneyland but better. Heaven will be like a Utopia but better. It will be like a Lotus flower plant ever unfolding (like a google Computer) ever expanding. You will never be bored but instead will use eternity to expand your interests and desires. All without the use of money or taxes or death. I could go on but this is only a glimmer of what God has in store for you. !!!! Volumes could be written about Heaven and still not cover every subject. And these primitive English words can not describe the intensity and beauty of Heaven. Praise the Lord forever and ever! And Yes, your dear pets will be in the New Heaven with you. Even those departed.. You will communicate through thought with your pets. Giving you pure joy! And other animals. The Lion will lay down with the lamb. Yes, you will be able to imagine and create any unique item you want. Yes, you will be able to customize anything in your world. That is one of the purposes of the New Heaven. Anything you can imagine you will achieve! There are no limits in Heaven other than the framework of God’s government and Sacred laws. You will be able to do or accomplish anything as a co-creator with the Lord. That will give you abundant joy for all of eternity. Praise the Lord Forever and ever !!! God in the Highest !!!
Not sure what you meant by the "universal mind" but all you wrote is certainly plausible. One thing that I am sure of, though: We will still have work. It is God ordained. It's what He does so it is natural for us, too. There will also be leadership as evidenced by the Crowns given for faithful service. My heart and my mind are set on things above. Yes, of course we will have work or a purpose to do in Heaven. Many times to help our fellow souls. But even work can be fun in the New Heaven since we will do it with passion and God's guidance. It will not feel like the earthly work. I will have to refine my definition of "universal mind" but it is part of the God Spirit that links the whole universe together. As Einstein said.....everything is connected in this universe. Plain English words are too primitive to describe the New Heaven. Luckily in Heaven we will have better and higher forms of communication. Till then, I apologize.
@Chico 1985 God has prepared us an amazing home that will be perfect for our taste and his own that he desires us to have which is better than we can even imagine. I agree with Mr.99 we wont need to sleep like randy says, we wont feel pain and I feel being sore is a type of pain we wont experience, we wont need to worry about holding our breath when we dive in an ocean, or out in outer space, I believe we will indeed be able to fly, or if we wish teleport like God could, the only limit we will have is creating matter out of nothing, we can create a spirit like God can or be everywhere at once, we also wont need plumbing or beds to feel safe and feel refreshed God is our constant everlasting source of power and goodness.
I think he lacks a bit of imagination concerning the things in the next life. In his book he believes we will need to sleep and eat, we will sweat perhaps excrete waste....I dont believe so. I dont believe we will feel sore from working "hard" I dont believe we will sweat I dont believe we will need sleep to feel refreshed, after all nothing is more disappointing for me than having to stop enjoying a good book or enjoy a game or stop going for a walk I love to go on, I dont believe we will need to eat anything but from the tree of life to have eternal life. He sees the next life a tad bit too physically too naturalistic. We will have perfect bodies, I dont believe we wil need toilets in our mansions in Heaven or rooms we know our rooms fi you want to call them like an aparment will be immense in scale compared to what even billionaires enjoy and take for granted but I believe since our bodies are perfect we wont waste anything, we wont need to pee or poop as the term goes because we will have perfect bodies, I believe we will indeed be able to fly high in the air at incredible speeds kinda like superman only better, I believe we will be able to teleport, to jump from a huge mountain and not have any fear likely be a lot of fun because we know we wont feel any pain, I disagree with him that we will be able to scrape our knee's, I dont believe a single drop of blood will ever happen in the next life. He is likely right on many things but some of them ehhh I seriously doubt. Maybe we wont be able to fly like a bird perhaps we will have technology that can allow us to fly, or build a perfect spaceship to do what we want it's possible, or we can simply teleport and bring everything we need and want with us to explore a new planet if not maybe even live on it for a time, but we gotta remember all things will be centered on the New Earth, that will be our eternal home, God never said we would expand out from Earth frankly I doubt we would have the numbers to actually spread out since there will be no more births ever again as we know it anyways. Just some of my thoughts. I read his book and it is very well written though I think way longer than it really needed to be, he repeats a ton of the books, but still a good read. We gotta remember God himself said it's better than we can really comprehend, so it's likely far ahead of any of our most wild imaginations, whether some might be close to the mark or completely wrong, it's going to be fulfilling and satisfying, not one thing we will see as undesirable.
hmm I guess I can see where we wont be flying like birds in a way, does sound kind of silly the thought of flocks of humans flying in the air I suppose, but we dont really know for sure I guess.

He seems to view the next life a tad bit too nature wise, he believes we will have the same exact earth but wont decay, to a degree he is right but I believe it will indeed be an entire new earth new land and oceans, it wont look exactly as we see them now, we wont have the same parks as we have now, the same trails or same oceans, it will all be new. I also believe since we will never feel pain again, we wont feel sore or tired ever again, afterall his chosen saints will serve him day and night thus they wont need to sleep, they wont feel the effects of a hot sun or bitter cold winter, we wont be effected by physical conditions despite being both spirit and physical. Yes we will have bone and blood that gives us shape but I wont need to lay down in bed to get refreshed. Too me the idea of dreaming in the next life is very odd. So we will just never have nightmares again? Whats the point of dreaming if our reality is far superior to a dream anyways. I believe his book could have been shortened it's just a chore to read I'm over half way through it and I've begun to just skim over a lot of it. Maybe it's because being a born again Christain none of this is new too me I know this stuff I've read the bible all my life but once I chose to be a born again Christain properly everything changed for me. I was raised Catholic baptized at birth but a few years ago I no longer felt it was a real baptism and this worried me so I decided to be properly baptized as a mature adult and my relationship with my church I have been going too since 2011 has been far more enjoyable people are far more open with me and welcoming, calling me brother people look at me with joy tears were shed when I was baptized and it felt amazing, I felt the doors of Heaven truly for the first time open for me. I dont need this book to answer my questions it's a fun read sure but full of maybe and what if's just his view on what Heaven may be like, just because he uses scripture doesn't mean he he has the exact right idea of the next life, I believe he will be shocked at how much he got wrong when he experiences it.

Having read most of the books on Heaven, I have to agree with Chuck!

It seems it is without warrant to suggest Abraham’s Bosom is now empty. What substantiation do you have for that claim? Also, I am not sure the floating city during the Millennium is accurate either. I have always understood eschatology to be as follows: All those who have passed away now are in Sheol. Sheol is separated into Hades for the unjust and Abraham’s Bosom for the just where they are now.

Think of any time you were excited about a
project or event that you wanted to go on for hours and hours but you had to
stop to sleep or rest, or eat or wait for the sun to come up again the next
day. In the new Heaven you will not need to sleep or rest or eat.
You can if you like but you can also pursue your hobby, book, travel or project
to it's full completion. It will be pure joy. You will never be
bored. You will meet and talk with your friends and relatives forever.
At no cost or work or trouble. Your home will be set up for
entertaining and solitude. With a beautiful garden. If you are a vintage
or hot rod car collector: then your home will also be like Jay Leno's garage.
If you are a book collector, than your library will rival the great libraries
of the world. It is just that you will need an eternity to enjoy all
of these things and God knows this. Fellowship with God means we will be
co-creators with God in eternity. Our
work and pursuits in Heaven will also be a prayer glorifying the Most High God.
We will praise him everyday since the next day will continue to be better than
the previous. He is indeed our generous
loving Heavenly Father. So whatever heavenly
adventure or pursuit you seek (sort of like Fantasy Island on TV) will be
available in the new Heaven. Plus your mind and knowledge will
expand in the new Heaven and you will continue to find and pursue new interests
forever and ever. You will experience new stages and levels of
development and communion with the Universal mind and all levels of love and
emotions. Guides will help you in all
these areas. Heaven will be like Disneyland but better. Heaven
will be like a Utopia but better. It will be like a Lotus flower plant ever
unfolding (like a google Computer) ever expanding. You will never be
bored but instead will use eternity to expand your interests and desires.
All without the use of money or taxes or death. I could go on but this is
only a glimmer of what God has in store for you. !!!! Volumes could
be written about Heaven and still not cover every subject. And these primitive
English words can not describe the intensity and beauty of Heaven. Praise the Lord forever and ever! And Yes, your dear pets will be in the New
Heaven with you. Even those departed..
You will communicate through thought with your pets. Giving you pure joy! And other animals. The Lion will lay down with
the lamb. Yes, you will be able to imagine and create any unique item you
want. Yes, you will be able to customize
anything in your world. That is one of
the purposes of the New Heaven.
Anything you can imagine you will achieve! There are no limits in Heaven other than the framework of God’s
government and Sacred laws. You will be able to do or accomplish anything as a
co-creator with the Lord. That will give you abundant joy for all of
eternity. Praise the Lord Forever and
ever !!! God in the Highest !!!
Not sure what you meant by the "universal mind" but all you wrote is certainly plausible. One thing that I am sure of, though: We will still have work. It is God ordained. It's what He does so it is natural for us, too. There will also be leadership as evidenced by the Crowns given for faithful service.

Yes, of course we will have work or a purpose to do in Heaven. Many times to help our fellow souls. But even work can be fun in the New Heaven since we will do it with passion and God's guidance. It will not feel like the earthly work. I will have to refine my definition of "universal mind" but it is part of the God Spirit that links the whole universe together. As Einstein said.....everything is connected in this universe. Plain English words are too primitive to describe the New Heaven. Luckily in Heaven we will have better and higher forms of communication. Till then, I apologize.

@Chico 1985 God has prepared us an amazing home that will be perfect for our taste and his own that he desires us to have which is better than we can even imagine.
I agree with Mr.99 we wont need to sleep like randy says, we wont feel pain and I feel being sore is a type of pain we wont experience, we wont need to worry about holding our breath when we dive in an ocean, or out in outer space, I believe we will indeed be able to fly, or if we wish teleport like God could, the only limit we will have is creating matter out of nothing, we can create a spirit like God can or be everywhere at once, we also wont need plumbing or beds to feel safe and feel refreshed God is our constant everlasting source of power and goodness.
I think he lacks a bit of imagination concerning the things in the next life. In his book he believes we will need to sleep and eat, we will sweat perhaps excrete waste....I dont believe so. I dont believe we will feel sore from working "hard" I dont believe we will sweat I dont believe we will need sleep to feel refreshed, after all nothing is more disappointing for me than having to stop enjoying a good book or enjoy a game or stop going for a walk I love to go on, I dont believe we will need to eat anything but from the tree of life to have eternal life. He sees the next life a tad bit too physically too naturalistic. We will have perfect bodies, I dont believe we wil need toilets in our mansions in Heaven or rooms we know our rooms fi you want to call them like an aparment will be immense in scale compared to what even billionaires enjoy and take for granted but I believe since our bodies are perfect we wont waste anything, we wont need to pee or poop as the term goes because we will have perfect bodies, I believe we will indeed be able to fly high in the air at incredible speeds kinda like superman only better, I believe we will be able to teleport, to jump from a huge mountain and not have any fear likely be a lot of fun because we know we wont feel any pain, I disagree with him that we will be able to scrape our knee's, I dont believe a single drop of blood will ever happen in the next life.
He is likely right on many things but some of them ehhh I seriously doubt. Maybe we wont be able to fly like a bird perhaps we will have technology that can allow us to fly, or build a perfect spaceship to do what we want it's possible, or we can simply teleport and bring everything we need and want with us to explore a new planet if not maybe even live on it for a time, but we gotta remember all things will be centered on the New Earth, that will be our eternal home, God never said we would expand out from Earth frankly I doubt we would have the numbers to actually spread out since there will be no more births ever again as we know it anyways.
Just some of my thoughts. I read his book and it is very well written though I think way longer than it really needed to be, he repeats a ton of the books, but still a good read.
We gotta remember God himself said it's better than we can really comprehend, so it's likely far ahead of any of our most wild imaginations, whether some might be close to the mark or completely wrong, it's going to be fulfilling and satisfying, not one thing we will see as undesirable.
hmm I guess I can see where we wont be flying like birds in a way, does sound kind of silly the thought of flocks of humans flying in the air I suppose, but we dont really know for sure I guess.

He seems to view the next life a tad bit too nature wise, he believes we will have the same exact earth but wont decay, to a degree he is right but I believe it will indeed be an entire new earth new land and oceans, it wont look exactly as we see them now, we wont have the same parks as we have now, the same trails or same oceans, it will all be new.
I also believe since we will never feel pain again, we wont feel sore or tired ever again, afterall his chosen saints will serve him day and night thus they wont need to sleep, they wont feel the effects of a hot sun or bitter cold winter, we wont be effected by physical conditions despite being both spirit and physical. Yes we will have bone and blood that gives us shape but I wont need to lay down in bed to get refreshed. Too me the idea of dreaming in the next life is very odd. So we will just never have nightmares again? Whats the point of dreaming if our reality is far superior to a dream anyways.
I believe his book could have been shortened it's just a chore to read I'm over half way through it and I've begun to just skim over a lot of it. Maybe it's because being a born again Christain none of this is new too me I know this stuff I've read the bible all my life but once I chose to be a born again Christain properly everything changed for me. I was raised Catholic baptized at birth but a few years ago I no longer felt it was a real baptism and this worried me so I decided to be properly baptized as a mature adult and my relationship with my church I have been going too since 2011 has been far more enjoyable people are far more open with me and welcoming, calling me brother people look at me with joy tears were shed when I was baptized and it felt amazing, I felt the doors of Heaven truly for the first time open for me.
I dont need this book to answer my questions it's a fun read sure but full of maybe and what if's just his view on what Heaven may be like, just because he uses scripture doesn't mean he he has the exact right idea of the next life, I believe he will be shocked at how much he got wrong when he experiences it.
