I don't think I've seen anyone in TH-cam try the following Nuzlocke challenge - 1. Must be below the level cap of rival, gyms (Johto and Kanto)Elite Four, and team rocket executives (Rocket hideout and Radio Tower). I used a Nuzlocke tracker I found on Google by typing Pokemon Crystal Nuzlocke Tracker. Note : Must beat Jasmine (level 35) before Radio Tower executives (levels 32-36) since Radio Tower is unlocked after getting the 7 badges 2. Can only catch the first encounter in a route. (If you encounter a Pidgey on route 30 and then another Pidgey on route 31, then it must be caught or you can't catch another pokemon on that route. 3. Pokemon cannot learn any TMs or HMs. This challenge is one of the hardest I've ever had to do since I have to keep good Pokemon set aside for Kanto gyms. This challenge was also made much easier with your pokemon crystal patch.
if i recall correctly, if the day care baby egg isn't shiny, it's going to be a 0/0/0/0 IV pokemon, which is terrible, but also terribly funny edit: oh you mentioned it at 15:26
o7 for Volty Also shout-out to the magnet train, it feels like such a cool idea but unfortunately it's just much easier to fly between Johto and Kanto via the league
Honestly, Mareep is just a great starter choice in general because it's got Static like a Pikachu and can evolve twice. It's also the superior sheep not weak to Fire. I'm honestly curious what Mareep wool's properties are.
A thought about the candy jar: as i'm typing this, you've just beaten Falkner and are leveling Mareep to 16 in the Violet City pokemon center. I fully support using the candy jar to bypass needless JRPG level-grinding, but using it early like this also removes a ton of the risk and peril from the trainer battles along the way to Bugsy's gym (especially in the early game, when team members and movesets are so limited, and a single level makes so much difference). By jumping straight to level 16, you've lost a lot of the dramatic tension from the next section of the game -- that tension and constant mortal peril being the primary intoxicant drawing us to Nuzlockes in the first place. I would propose just amending your Candy Jar usage rules such that you can only use it right before your fight with the next gym leader. If you get to Azalea Town and you're only at level 13, by all means skip the rest of the grind and candy up to 16. Thanks for the great stuff, and I'm a happy watcher either way.
If nothing else spamming the candy jar misses out on lots of stat experience That said, if a Pokémon was bad enough to faint anyway at the level cap, may as well just get it there using a candy jar and get it over with
Hey. The Candy Jar's always going to be a point of contention, but I'm going to continue using it in the way I have been doing. It's purely a sustainability thing for me. For every successful Nuzlocke that gets uploaded, there are countless attempts where we lose the run - normally to either Falkner or Whitney - and I have to start over again. If I had to do the grind over and over again every single time we lose the run, the videos wouldn't get uploaded at all. Johto's a very unusual region because it doesn't have many mandatory trainer battles - in fact, the only mandatory battles between Violet City and Azalea Town are the Rockets in Slowpoke Well, and they're mostly benign - especially for a Pokémon like Mareep/Flaaffy - so there is far less peril between the Gyms as it first seems.
@@Squidgy I agree with this as well it's not all that different besides I haven't come across a single Nuzlocker channel that doesn't do this or some other thing that takes away the actual challenge of a Nuzlocke heck even stat experience and iv training (and don't get me started on the calc users) take all of the challenge out of a Nuzlocke just straight using rare candies is actually more of detriment since so many Trainers are skippable in the vanilla games heck in gen 9 you go the whole game without having to fight a single regular Trainer
Hey! That bug's fixed in the latest version of the patch! To give a bit of context as to why it happened, I built the Nuzlocke patch using the Giftlocke version as a base, and there was one line of code where I'd missed changing the logic for which caused all gift Pokémon to still be randomized!
Defeating all the trainers in Sprout tower gives 876 stat experience in sp.atk - so basically a third of a vitamin
I like this nuzlock series it’s a good change of pace!! 🎉 very enjoyable as always

I love these nuzlocke runs!!
My daughter loves watching your videos! Keep up the great work!
I love this nuzlocke run
This was great! Keep being you, Squidgy!
While an unsung hero but Magneton was very useful as Snorlax is a huge problem in GSC for special attackers
Heck yes! Love the electric type. Can’t believe they did Ampharos dirty though in base Crystal by leaving that line out 😢
What an electrifying run!
o7 for the fallen mons. Great run! This is one I'm not looking forward to in gen 1. Cant wait for the next!

I agree, using the candy jar so early kinda kills the spirit of a nuzlocke

I laughed when u said the time I thought u was going to do it at the end
BZZZZT 😂😂😂
I love that name
Volty was a true hero o7 Maggie could have taken Sabrina by itself I believe. A very good run overall I think.
Is the bug fixed that I don’t get an eevee? I played a psychic nuzlocke but bill gave me a pineco ^^

Never claimed to be, mate.
