They left out an interesting fun fact. As Master of the Mint, Isaac Newton invented the serrations on the edges of coins. Modern coins only have them for looks, but in the days of real gold and silver coins, the serrations kept people from scraping tiny amounts of metal off the edges.
In some ways the most amazing thing about Newton is that he died at a ripe old age even by our standards with a well paying job he held onto for many decades. It seems like most stories of great historical intellects, philosophers, and artists end with "And then they spent their last years in poverty and died penniless and broken" or "They were tragically taken before their time by some disease or substance abuse," or "They were never appreciated during their time and it was only years after their death that their work would become well known." But Newton was like "Naw, I'm going to die rich, famous, and old."
It was quite rare for people to live to an old age in the 1600’s. Life expectancy in London was only 30-40 years at the time. But of course, there were a few exceptions. Newton was one of them who lived till age 84. Edmond halley was also born in the 1600’s and he lived for 85 years.
I enjoy these historical biographic's. I listen to them as treat them as a teaser trailer of sorts for the story of a particular life, if I find one that really piques my interest, I'll use this as a jumping off point before diving into my own research. I love this channel.
