This is exactly why just pay the homegrown talent. Unlike most homegrown, a traded for player doesn't care about the team or what we've built here. He just wants a Payday. There is no emotional attachment
We have an awful GM that doesn't know how to evaluate young talent. He didn't believe in Huff a couple years ago, when he could have extended him extremely cheap, so he drafted McDonald. Izzy is on the verge of not making the team after he was drafted last year. When are we going to start holding Sleepy Joe accountable for his awful draft record
I would not guarantee his contract at this point. I would let him accumulate fines and prepare to have a season without him. If he shows up later good, if not the defense will still be top tier
Agree completely. Let him accrue fines. When he yields after losing a bit of his 15 million (non guaranteed) money because he realizes the jets mean business (and/because they can still win without him), he will have a lost a few games, lost prep time, will not impress as much as a result, and will lose out on his big pay day next year. What a fool. BTW, will Mcdonald pick not looking so bad, whew 😅.
So you’re expecting him to play through the season with no guarantees on his contract? That isn’t being realistic. Also, this is a “win-now” year and he is absolutely 100% the best end we have on the team from a pass rush standpoint and run defender standpoint. If they could give Kinlaws sorry ass $7.5m than they could guarantee Reddick’s contract for this season.
