    I don't hate Tomorrowland, but I hate that significant improvements have seemingly been abandoned for guests who can't afford to get behind the paywall.😫

      The DVC lounge is not a significant improvement, it’s just a nice lounge on the second floor of the carousel theatre that has been empty for years for DVC members to rest and get a drink, it didn’t cost Disney much at all to build. The entire second floor of New Orleans square is behind an even bigger pay wall as the very expensive and exclusive Club 33 is there, even the very nice court of angels is now behind this wall. Disney nowadays is all about pandering to the rich, if you’re poor they don’t even want you at their parks.

      Honestly, I've never been salty about Club 33. I knew it was there, I've toured it as a cast member, they served basically the same food you got in the rest of New Orleans Square, mostly from the Main Kitchen. You want to pay 10K up front just to get on the 20 year waiting list [this was 40 years ago]? Meh. If you're that rich and that silly, go for it. It's literally punishment for being rich and entitled. Paywalls don't mean the rich are better. It means they're more shallow and are SOAKED in imagined entitlement (BUT they're paying a LOT to fund expansion). EVERYBODY needs to understand that. This isn't cope. It's reality. Ever work a celebrity night at Disneyland? I threw Carl Malden out of the French Market. I literally farted in front of Jim Stafford (thanks Lori, geez). If you don't know these names, you weren't around in the 80s.

    The submarine lagoon is a beautiful open space. Disneyland is a small footprint and the lagoon adds asthetic value especially with its proximity to the iconic Matterhorn. WDW with its significantly larger real estate maximizes what is essentially beautiful landscaping to enhance the immersive experience. The submarine ride could be changed in some manner, but don't rip out what is in itself iconic. "Progress" isn't always successful or necessary. Just look at actual city planning in Los Angeles and how neighborhoods or certain buildings were bulldozed and replaced with generic developments. All that unique civic flavor was lost forever. Los Angeles is notorious for poor city planning. No need to do the same in Disneyland which is as much a magnificent art piece as it is a moneymaking theme park.

    Space mountain is literally the best ride in the entire resort. I do agree Tomorrowland has been neglected big time at Disneyland to bring up Tomorrowland is to bring back the peoples mover for a start. Then to get a new attraction on there then to get it some new paint etc but to get rid of the original space mountain is not a good idea you can still open up that land behind and keep the same space mountain just fix the walkways to go around to get to that part of the land and add a new thrilling attraction behind the already great space mountain.

    I remember Tomorrowland as a kid and loving to get up on the Rockets Jets just as the fireworks were starting. Tomorrowland used to have all this kinetic energy, the Tomorrowland Stage going up and down, The Carousel of Progress spinning, the People Mover moving throughout, the Subs, and the Monorail coming through. Tomorrowland needs that centerpiece that has motion, sound and light and for it be a destination, even a shaded elevated area to people watch down below would be appreciated. 😊

    • @Inkironnrum
      @Inkironnrum 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I remember THAT Tomorrowland. Bring back Mission to Mars with today’s tech along with how much more science knows about Mars. This attraction would have an original Disneyland vibe with today’s technology. Also, bring back the molecule ride. The one where guests ride up into the shrinking machine, which btw my sisters and I used to call this ride the shrinking machines. This attraction could replace molecules with a medical science of the future theme. Perfect for a TOMMOROWland vibe. Ride could showcase guests viewing cells and how they function after guests are shrunk to cell size. It could have a Discovery show vibe to it. Bringing back the people mover is possible but Disney is against closing Tomorrowland down to tear down and rebuild. Not making necessary changes goes against the original concept of Tomorrowland. I haven’t gone to Disneyland in ten years. The times I did go I would get upset with how Tomorrowland looks. So much so, I have no interest to return until they fix Tomorrowland. For now, my plans are to go to WDW and to Tokyo Disneyland.

  • @randywhittle9678

    It does need a major overhaul but my fear is that they will replace 6 rides with 2 or 3. The subs are unique and classic but I wouldn’t mind a new theme. Autopia could be easily switched to electric cars and give it maybe a futuristic Tron aesthetic. Put Astro orbiter back where it used to be and rebuild the People mover tracks. Star Tours could be rethemed easily enough.

  • @KensanOni

    Excellent analysis. As I've said before, if they are going to fix Tomorrowland, the whole southern half of the the land has to come down and be rebuilt. It just isn't built for the needs, and with all of Peoplemover in it, you gotta pull it out.
    The problem is that the Lagoon is really popular. It makes Disneyland Disneyland, in my opinion. While it is true that Autopia and the Submarines probably do need to be replaced, because they do chew up a lot of real estate in such a tiny park, the Lagoon overall is a big boon, and while the rides for that part of the park are slowly dying, I don't know if removing it all is long term desirable. Let's face it, it's So Cal. That pond and shaded area is a boon overall, and helps make the summer tolerable. It's going to be tricky what to do with that area.
    The main avenue, though? Complete redo. Just toss it and start over. We've done it before. Peoplemover didn't always exist, after all. We can do it again.

    I am a huge Star Wars geek and really appreciate Galaxy’s Edge and think Rise of the Resistance is Disney at its best. I like walking through the Millennium Falcon to ride Smuggler’s Run. Yet, I find the antiquated Star Tours more fun than Smuggler’s Run. If they tear down Tomorrowland, they should move some of the Star Tours movie elements to the cockpit sections on the Falcon. The video game graphics don’t work so well, and if you’re not the pilot or copilot, you just get bored.

    You said it. New Orleans Square and that whole area DIDN'T NEED ANYTHING while Tomorrowland NEEDED EVERYTHING. That's where they made their mistake. Nothing wrong with adding to an already great area, but there is something wrong when you're doing that while another area needs to be fixed. We should be halfway into this new rebuild of Tomorrowland ALREADY while doing the rest of the improvements to the West much later.

    • @AStageForTheKingdom
      @AStageForTheKingdom 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem is that fixing Tomorrowland means shutting down the entire land for 5+ years while they tear down almost everything and build something new in its place that is up to code and ADA compliant. That is a HUGE loss of capacity (i.e. lost ticket revenue) for years, not mention significant and unavoidable construction impacts on the guest experience everywhere around Tomorrowland.

    • @NateDohDoubleGee
      @NateDohDoubleGee 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AStageForTheKingdom They can do parts of it at a time. The connections are basically just the old Peoplemover/Rocket Rod tracks. No need to redo all of that at once since there hasn't been a ride there for over 20 years. Also, the innovation/Launch Bay building can come down and not too many people would miss it nor are many people even going in there. You could do this by taking 1 ride down for a short period of time to fix or replace that section of track then bring the ride back up and move on to the next section. This keeps things compliant and has minimal impacts on capacity.

    As a person, who loved People Mover, AT&T Presents Circle Vision 360, Adventures in Inner Space, especially Carousel of Progress, and of course Skyway, I recommend Disney do the following:
    Rename Tomorrowland
    1. Memoryland: (Maybe the theme to Cats playing????)
    2. Cemeteryland
    Aside from filling up the hole in the Matterhorn, another memory, Disney now needs to bulldoze the entire land.
    I recommend instead of the Carousel of Progress adding in a Spaceship Earth merged with Carousel of Progress, next gen ride.
    Yes, I vote for a return of the old classics in new form.

    I have to say, I waffle between my nostalgic love for Autopia and subs and the thought that something truly groundbreaking (hehe) could be put in that spot. The fact that Star Tours is my daughter's favorite attraction is a reminder that every ride and attraction is the favorite of thousands of people, maybe more, so if they remove anything they better be damn sure they have a home run lined up to replace it. I think going back to the vision of the future Tomorrowland had when the park was new, so the 1950's/1960's Jetson's aesthetic, is a good idea thematically. A lot of the infrastructure from back then is still in place I think so it could be more cost effective unless they really do plan on tearing down everything and building back up from scratch and having an old school prediction of what the future would look like helps keep everything timeless since Midcentury Modernism is basically "historic" now. If Disney were to try and make Tomorrowland more like what we'd consider futuristic today then that's eventually going to get tired and outdated 20-30 years from now also.

    Disney officials have told me in the past that they know there is public interest in bringing the People Movers back. Disneyland has wanted to bring them back. The issue is the tracks are messed up from that previous ride they put in there after it. It’s too costly to fix the tracks, so it’s been put on the back burner indefinitely. And as you nailed, the tracks can’t be taken out because they’re attached to all of the structures. And I’m sure right that after three decades they may finally fix that land once and for all.

    About Autopia, it’s really nice for little kids, but I do agree that it doesn’t need that much space, they should IMO update it, make it half the size and a two or three laps ride and the submarines are historic and I think that the lagoon adds a lot to the park’s aesthetics, it looks very nice, but I do agree that the current version with Nemo is lame and a waste of space, so it’s a huge space that could have a much better use indeed, but for me not for a new land, but for new Tomorrowland rides, attractions and dining locations… an updated mission space and restaurant from Epcot would be a nice addition for Tomorrowland for instance, so would be an updated test track.

    My honest thoughts on what should be changed regarding Tomorrowland:
    Tomorrowland was always a place to emphasize edutainment, educate people and children on the future and future technologies through attractions and entertainment. That idea has been so obviously lost to replace everything with IP and cheap, quick changes to save money. So with that in mind, here's what I feel would probably be best for Tomorrowland (this is my opinion so take it with a grain of salt).
    1. Astro blasters has to go, keep the omni mover ride system and track layout and if possible try to keep the interactive elements to it, instead have it focus on futuristic societies and cities. Again this is just like loose ideas so I'm not gonna go fully in depth but you get the idea.
    2. Move Star Tours over to Galaxy's Edge, perhaps creating a more modern and better version of it over there. As for Tomorrowland, keep the current Star Tours system and focus on space travel, exploring the stars with tons of different adventures, open for hijinks and education at the same time. Also, the current jankiness of Star Tours' system works perfect as current space travel is a rough venture and so would add to how difficult space travel really is.
    3. Move Astro orbiter back over to being on top of the People mover station and of course bring back the People mover. The People mover is too crucial to the structural integrity of the buildings, plus the aesthetic of multi layered, vertical transportation on the ground and off gives a great futuristic look to the area. Fix up the track, update it to modern standards and it could be very solid in improving the atmosphere of the land.
    4. Bring back Carousel of Progress, modernize the show scenes and improve the animatronics and perhaps add scenes showcasing the future and the near possible future. The current one is already becoming outdated so it could work to bring a new and updated version to Disneyland.
    5. Space Mountain is perfect as is, perhaps just remodel the outside show building to that of what Tokyo Disneyland is gonna do to just update aesthetics.
    6. Bring back the theater, show a new film on the future, similar to Captain EO but a little more modernized of course.
    7. Starcade could honestly just be converted into an exhibit showcasing newer technologies and things to come in the near future.
    8. Now on to Submarine Voyage and Autopia. First with Submarine Voyage, either bring back 20,000 leagues updated to modern technologies or a new under sea adventure. Make it totally original with no IP and emphasize deep sea exploration technology and education on the ocean. With Autopia I genuinely have no clue what you could do as it's not something that can really be updated to the future, perhaps just a new attraction or experience showcasing the future of cars, a smaller version of Test Track I honestly don't totally know.
    9. This would be like the secondary option to Autopia and Submarine Voyage and would almost 100% not happen, but just completely remove both rides for multiple brand new experiences. Or, and this won't happen but it's fun to think, bring Tron over to that area. Tron could be the big IP ride of the land and still focus on a realistic future that fits with the rest of Tomorrowland. Now of course the hard part is the monorail as it would be cutting right through that area but if they could make it work I feel that that could also work.
    Again all of this is my opinion so like I said take it with a grain of salt.e

    The area that features the submarines, the train station, the Autopia and the Monorail station is just fine and very kinetic. But Tomorrowland has a problem with the area around the carousel building, Space Mountain and the Pizza Port. Too many empty spaces.
    At Disney World,Tomorrowland looks ungainly and dated. The Carousel of Progress has become a half-broken relic. The Speedway is nothing like the Autopia. The building that had housed Stitch's Escape has been empty for nearly 4 years. And the Monsters Inc show belongs at Hollywood Studios, not Tomorrowland.

    There are so many new technologies that Disney could take advantage of to really make it a "tomorrow land". They really should just close off the whole land, level the place and turn it into one of the most fascinating technological marvels that earth has to offer and I guarantee it will bring the crowds.

    As non-locals who only get to visit once a year or every other year, we still think Star Tours is fun! It usually has a short wait time and is great to do when we're in Tomorrowland for Space Mountain and/or the Monorail. (Or to get the chicken fusilli at Pizza Planet.)

    Last trip had a marvelous Autopia ride. Omg it was glorious. Loved it as a kid too. Ah well. Obvs some day sadly it will be gone…
    Some solution to Peoplemover has gotta be possible… At least to remove the track & let in some light. Sigh. Miss it a lot.
    DVC Lounge? Supremely supremely totally ridiculous waste of space.
    Last time I visited DL as a kid I saw signs “future site of Space Mountain” Returned 24 yrs later, so obvs I can wait some things out. But I do hope to live long enough to see some real Tomorrowland improvement! Good luck to us all.

    So glad you made this video today! We are currently at the park and spent the last five days concluding that Tomorrowland is going to get ripped out completely. Seeing all of the careful detail all around the park and the complete neglect of Tomorrowland - really only one conclusion- they have no plans to save it and plan to rip it out. Doesn’t make sense to keep Star Tours in “Tomorrowland” when there is a Star Wars land. Would love to see Buzz Light Year show up at Pixar Pier, no novelty in driving in Autotopia (only Nostalgia, but it takes up so much space!). Thanks for he videos, great information and I think your conclusion is spot on!

    I think FreshBaked! would disagree with you about the importance of Autopia, the Submarine Lagoon, and the Astro Orbiter. 😊
    Whatever replaces Tomorrowland needs kineticism, which is what the monorail, Autopia, submarines, Orbiter, and PeopleMover (formerly) provide. While I welcome a complete rebuild of Tomorrowland, I'm worried that the end result will be as stale and stagnant as Galaxy's Edge. Tomorrowland, in its current state, is densely packed with attractions and handles a lot af guests. Any Tomorrowland replacement needs to meet or exceed the variety and volume of attractions. Just look at the How To Train Your Dragon land being built at Universal Epic Universe--it has four outdoor attractions that all provide movement and activity to the land.

    I prefer they add instead of tearing down existing attractions & then replacing them with something new. As for backstage areas to the southeast behind Tomorrowland, don't know how much of that can be demolished & added to public space. But the non-public SE corner of DCA certainly seems like it can be ripped out & replaced. However, employees & maintenance crews in both parks do need areas for themselves, so acreage hidden to visitors may be more necessary than assumed. Re: community opposition a few years ago to the huge parking structure proposed for east of Harbor Blvd ("We don't want to lose our access to potential customers!!") must have slowed down the pace.

    We deserve much, much better. Having experienced the 1967 Tomorrowland, it started dying when the Carousel of Progress left - in my opinion.
    The final nail on the coffin was the loss of the Peoplemover and the relocation of the Astro Jets.
    They should just raze that whole area and build a sci-fi oriented land that’s not tied to technological advancement. Call it Galaxyland and call it a day.

    Thanks for the video bricky. Are any of these entrances and lagoon, autopia have historical significance that can’t be demolished? Sometimes in Australian cities having this doesn’t help as they have a lot of money and the developers will significantly remodel it or add to the building. They’ve done this to a 150 year old building in Sydney and add a skyscraper on top of the historic building as they couldn’t demolish the building.

    Well, I really think it’s odd to suggest the only way to fix Tomorrowland is bulldozing it down. Penny pinching Disney only do piecemeal updates on the west side. People Mover tracks only need to be removed on the outside. There’s no point to remove the inside tracks. Space Mountain was already updated with new tracks. Nothing wrong with Buzz Lightyear and Star Tours. All they need to do is remove Autopia and Innoventions Building and put in the Tron cycle ride, but make it an outside ride instead. Astro Orbitor can be moved inside the land or remain where it is.

      @@gregr3720A Cycle ride has been rumored since Jedi speeder bike ride on the People Mover tracks decades ago. There’s a long history of it being blue sky’d in the park. Tomorrowland had a blue sky with Tron ride at least 5 years ago or a retheme to Captain America.

    • @finned958
      @finned958 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AStageForTheKingdom A demolition is just that. New project can be developed without any involvement of People Mover tracks, which no one expects to return as an attraction in any form. They haven’t touched the submarines. How many times have they redone the Carousel of Progress? It’s still there as a building as recently as Innoventions.

    @HeyBrickey What I want for Tomorrowland, is to retain Walt’s ideals but bring attractions up further into the future as Walt wanted. I do disagree on what you were saying about changing the land where Autopia is. Let’s not forget that this park is for kids first. Putting restaurants & shopping in its place of Autopia just so Disney can make more money is the exact opposite of what Walt wanted.

    I still love Star Tours, but I really wish they would relocate it to Galaxy's Edge. It feels super weird that it's still in Tomorrow Land. Star Wars (especially the animated series) has been making use of the Star Tours ship and droid pilot concept pretty frequently, so moving it and transforming it to fit into the Galaxy's Edge motif would be awesome.

    The biggest problem with tomorrow land is the lack of original IP. the only IP that is good is Space mountain, and the Autopia. You could put one of the best IPs is TRON. TRON is away to integrate the theme of Tomorrow. Putting in an IP like TRON into the land, you can make original attractions that are based on it... Move Star Tours to Galaxy's edge, move buzz to DCA, and retire Finding Nemo. there is a good amount of area to make new ideas.

    I’d be curious how this suggestion could even become reality because again as a former cast member there really isn’t much useable backstage area behind the existing space mountain. There exists the same backstage building that you can see from the monorail but other than a road under the train (there’s a tunnel heading toward Main Street station that you can see when you’re backstage) you’re pretty much at harbor Blvd on the other side of the building/tunnel.

    I say this abt Tomorrowland EVERY TIME! it’s depressing over there. It just totally looks abandoned like nobody cares about it! And what about that failed ride that used to break down every five minutes? I think it opened in the late 90s … that track is still there and they do nothing with it. It just sits there … even pizza port is bad. The food sucks! Star tours is certainly not “virtual reality“ anymore, and Astro blasters? I don’t see any coat of paint thrown on that at all. It looks like an abandoned carnival ride. tomorrowland just depresses the hell out of me.
