I'm one hell of a parent, sure I'm only 18 now, but my daughter has everything she ever would need!!! You guys are GREAT parents too, and this society is just stupid for thinking otherwise!
This made me tear up for some reason, especially the answer about not being financially stable. I'm a teen mom and single at that. I am not financially stable but I have found a way to do it all on my own and just because I don't have all the money in the world, it doesn't mean I'm a bad parent. I think I'm a wonderful mom because I'm doing all I can for my baby. I loved that answer, thank you
And also because of that expectation, some teen dads feel as though it's ok to just leave because it's what's expected whereas an adult might not be so inclined to leave because it's expected that they stay and support the mother and child. Of course, this just proves the stereotype and makes it worse :/
My family have a lot of teen pregnancies; my Nan had my mom at 16 and my mom had me at 17 which is how old i am now! So scary to think i just couldn't imagine having a baby now, but i think i've broke the chain cause i never leave the house LOL

I loved this topic and your extremely wonderful answers. Each season in our lives comes with fears, doubts and questions and the only way we can grow is to continue stepping forward with the best attitude and desire to grow and embrace each step. The people you have become through this hard but exciting time has accomplished a beautiful wisdom and its not about age, its about how you deal with each thing in your life...failures and responsibilities....that is what is lacking in people when you see them not embracing and caring for their children or relationships....when you make a commitment you both need to think ahead what it will cost and what your willing to give....if your not able to commit to that reguardless of the cost, you have thought things through well...but if we are the kind of people that take responsibility for our own actions no matter what the cost...we are in the maturity that both gives and has some challenges but when you give to the life you make, you get back more than what you put in....children change you but if you love that child, you get so much more out of the deal that you commit to then anything you had to leave behind...actually they teach us and grow us and we actually enjoy life more because of that...also we come full circle and appreciate our own family and parents much more when you feel and see the same things as you have your own...you realize the sacrifices and you realize the incredible joy you give them....It heals and helps to understand why we acted the way we did...and in one moment that baby puts you in your parents shoes and you get it....Oscar I love the way you love your family and take pride in be an active dad. I really appreciate all the points you made about stereotypes and what makes a parent "ready." I worked at a preschool and I've babysat for years and I have seen parents in their 40s that I look at and think, I could be a better parent for their child and I'm only 19! I agree that guys are way better parents than many of the older parents with lots of money and no real know-how or instinct when it comes to their kids. You guys are the best example of teen parenting done right.
i had my son when i was 18 now im 35. his dad has seen him maybe 3 times. so when oscar said that the norm should be dads staying and not leaving i agree 100%. i did meet my husband while pregnant so my son did have a dad growing up and i had my daughter at 21. being a good teen parent is not that hard as kyra said, either you got it or you dont. i never left my kids to go party and once i had my daughter i became a more overprotective mama bear....oscar keep on being the role model dad you are. kyra keep on being the role model mother you are. love all 4 of you from miami.

Oscar is such an intelligent and great person. (kyra too obviously but this is on a teen dad vid) We usually only see Oscar as the loud, goofy dad who is so excited (ooh) and loves his son and all that. It's really cool to see him in this forming and expressing opinions setting. We get a glimpse of it every comment of the day, but this is just so refreshing.

I agree Oscar men in society have this low bar set and it shouldn't be something so applauded for a father taking responsibility. Unfortunately I was a statistic and had a baby as a teen who was special needs and even though we got married he left. I am now 40, remarried with 4 children but my biggest hope is I break the cycle with my kids. Every woman in my family were teen moms as well. You guys are doing a great job and continue to impress me as young adults and as parents!

And though, we don't want our own kids to be teen parents. But that doesn't mean that we regret being a teen parent our self. It doesn't mean we regret our baby/babies... I think Kyra and Oscar are prime examples of just how good the world can be. Yes they had kids young but that doesn't mean that they aren't going to put 110% into looking after their children. People are so obnoxious nowadays and don't realise that people are capable of becoming parents younger than others. If you are ready then you are ready.

I really appreciate all the points you made about stereotypes and what makes a parent "ready." I worked at a preschool and I've babysat for years and I have seen parents in their 40s that I look at and think, I could be a better parent for their child and I'm only 19! I agree that guys are way better parents than many of the older parents with lots of money and no real know-how or instinct when it comes to their kids. You guys are the best example of teen parenting done right.

i had my son when i was 18 now im 35. his dad has seen him maybe 3 times. so when oscar said that the norm should be dads staying and not leaving i agree 100%. i did meet my husband while pregnant so my son did have a dad growing up and i had my daughter at 21. being a good teen parent is not that hard as kyra said, either you got it or you dont. i never left my kids to go party and once i had my daughter i became a more overprotective mama bear....oscar keep on being the role model dad you are. kyra keep on being the role model mother you are. love all 4 of you from miami.

I started watching your vlogs about 6 mths ago...I think I watched the birth video first....I'm a mom of three and I love seeing other moms videos about all kinds of stuff related to being a mom. we have struggled financially a lot and after kkandbabyj shouted us out we got out first and only pay check so far from youtube and i was able to buy my daughter what she really wanted for her birthday which is next month. i honeslty cannot explain to you guys how much you two keep me motivated to vlog and post videos. i hope one day i will be able to afford a proper camera so maybe then we can earn a living from youtube. but i really love recording and editing. you two have taught me so much and i learn every day by watching your vlogs and seeing how you edit.

Oscar is such an intelligent and great person. (kyra too obviously but this is on a teen dad vid) We usually only see Oscar as the loud, goofy dad who is so excited (ooh) and loves his son and all that. It's really cool to see him in this forming and expressing opinions setting. We get a glimpse of it every comment of the day, but this is just so refreshing.

I agree Oscar men in society have this low bar set and it shouldn't be something so applauded for a father taking responsibility. Unfortunately I was a statistic and had a baby as a teen who was special needs and even though we got married he left. I am now 40, remarried with 4 children but my biggest hope is I break the cycle with my kids. Every woman in my family were teen moms as well. You guys are doing a great job and continue to impress me as young adults and as parents!

I'm a teen mom to an almost 2 year old little boy, Michael... Don't listen to what people say. You guys are doing a great job with little buggie... Who's adorable, BTW... And congrats on Mini Bug.... And though, we don't want our own kids to be teen parents. But that doesn't mean that we regret being a teen parent our self. It doesn't mean we regret our baby/babies... And you're right, dad's should be expected to say. It shouldn't be so shooking when they do.
After watching okbaby for so long, I kind of forgot that they are teens. It doesn't cross my mind on a daily basis.
You have such grace as parents nothing gets in your way. It makes you look like "normal age" parents rather than "teen" parents
