      That is not exactly correct. I'm from Bordeaux, allow me to explain. Bordeaux is a city from the 17th and 18th centuries from an architectural point of view. Paris and its Haussmanian architecture dates from the 19th century.
      The one who designed today's Bordeaux is the royal intendant Louis-Urbain Aubert de Tourny.
      But it is true that Georges Eugène Haussmann was prefect of Gironde and Bordeaux in 1841, when he became prefect of the Seine and Paris in 1853, he was greatly inspired by the layout of the streets of Bordeaux to build Haussmanian Paris that we know today.

    Hi Israel, thanks for showcasing my city! The filming and editing is outstanding.
    At the 3:40 mark you mention the fountains 'not working' and others too "...maybe to keep tourists away". Visitors are always welcome here! We receive 7-8 million every year but mostly in the summer. Every year, starting in October or November the city turns off all the fountains and water monuments to avoid them freezing in the winter. They come back on in April. I admit it's not as pretty when the fountains are left dry but they can be damaged over the winter.
    At the 8:12 mark, you state Bordeaux is the 6th biggest city in France. We're the 9th actually. Here's the order : Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Bordeaux...
    but we are the 4th biggest in size (spreads out a bit) and we are the second richest.
    Thanks again for your video and I hope you'll come back again on a day when everything is open!

    🤔you know Israel, I like how you think. I'm going to Europe on Xmas day for 2weeks and I'll be spending 3days in Paris. You know I gotta get out of the Instagram influenced mindset of traveling by only visiting places I'm familiar with. Travel is all about get to know unfamiliar places and people. Been to Rome - Soo many tourists and trash by the Trevi. I need to think unconventionally.

    • @IsraelPlata
      @IsraelPlata  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Joni 😉 yes I walked everywhere. The city is very walkable and the attractions are pretty close to each other. I only took a taxi to get to the city from the airport (which I don’t recommend because it was VERY expensive) btw there are trams in the city and they are very efficient. Hope this helps!

    • @huaccc
      @huaccc ปีที่แล้ว

      If anything, you have a bus that goes from airport to the train station, passing by the city center. It is a bit long (45 minutes), but it is very convenient price wise! It is the number 1, pretty easy to find. I definitely don’t recommend taking a taxi in Bordeaux, it is expensive and the tramways / bus can usually bring you anywhere :)

      @dmyt-fr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Slim Jim, Bordeaux is my city. In winter, only the main shopping streets (St Catherine and others) are open on Sundays. Israel is right that most of the city would be closed because it was Sunday, as elsewhere in France. On any other day, the streets and squares are full of people as the city centre (old Bordeaux) is banned to traffic and is pedestrians only. In fact, the city just expanded even more the area reserved for pedestrians to 65 hectares total (160 acres), adding another 22km (13 miles) of streets with no traffic.
      Regarding tourists, we're not trying to keep them away! All our visitors are very welcome and there's so much to see and do here. The number of tourists is increasing every year now and we welcome between 7-8 million people annually. I hope you come to visit one day!
