@@headofathousandsheepswool Just from what I know, take something like electric, you can fake it because on the track the guitar would be louder than the real guitar but with acoustic ot would be the same volume. Also with acoustic guitars the strings are very sensitive so any wrong move would lead in the fakery being exposed anyways
wombleway Wales' national animal isn't the dragon though, it's a national symbol of Wales and is the unofficial national animal, but the national animal of Wales is apparently the Red Kite.
i love this song. my dad died and with tihis song ...a lot of wonderfull memories awake ................. He was only 54 years old Thanks to Julie for an timeless song
As a full blooded Scot I can trace my ancestorie back to the 7th century along with Viking heritage...... And this song gives me the absolute chills and can imagine this is what my ancestors done for entertainment! Beautiful song ♥️
Saw the movie recently. Julie's voice jumps from the sound track and grabs your heart. The song and her voice are pure and call you to the hills of Scotland. I had hoped to find this on TH-cam and was delighted when I did. Wish you all the best and thanks for this lovely song.
i love how the modern animated movies are teaching more than just romantic love. these movies are aimed at children and its good to find messages such as love between siblings or love between mother and daughter. that makes me much happier than "finding a prince" movies.
People always talk about Frozen (uncontrollably), and they see Elsa and Anna as the 'perfect' princesses, but to me, the perfect princesses were Merida, Mulan, and Tiana, who stayed true to themselves, and showed us that princesses aren't just all glamour, but they're fierce and true, and still manage to keep the honor of their families.
When the cold wind is a'calling And the sky is clear and bright Misty mountains sing and beckon Lead me out into the light I will ride, I will fly Chase the wind and touch the sky I will fly Chase the wind and touch the sky (Na na na na Na na na na La na na na Na na na) (La na na na La na na na La na na na Na na na) Where dark roots hide secrets And mountains are fierce and bold Deep waters hold reflections Of times lost long ago I will read every story Take hold of my own dream Be as strong as the seas are stormy And proud as an eagle's scream I will ride, I will fly Chase the wind and touch the sky I will fly Chase the wind and touch the sky (Na na na na Na na na na La na na na Na na na)
I first heard Julies’ beautiful, singing voice in the movie “Brave”. I was hooked! She sung the song beautifully and perfect! I had to find out who she was. This song is on my playlist.
I have a little bit of Scots in me but have never been to Scotland. Pictures of the Highlands remind me of the Appalachians I grew up in and hiked over. There's nothing like looking into a deep valley from inside a mountain forest, or walking along the narrow ledge of a cliff face. It's most incredible to remember that the fastest way home from school was down a rock slide -- my friend and I did it in suits and ties!
16denier I've stayed in Glencoe twice, sadly no more than a day each time -- once camped in the town itself with stark peaks on all sides (and went hiking too), once in King's House a few miles up the A82 with Ben Doran towering out my window. Also drove up the Great Glen. Worked in Cumberland Gap for a summer and can confirm it's very like the Appalachians; no wonder the music is so similar, not just the ancestry but the terrain and weather both have the same feel and atmosphere. Get out there if you can. I'm not Scots but the literature and music drew me, and I want to go back again.
Adrianne Webster I blame Patrick Stewart for that. On an old episode of Star Trek The Next Generation his character used the term "Scotts" to denote Scottish ethnicity. I assumed (wrongly) that being from the UK he would know better than I.
This is old but you might find it interesting if you didn't know already - the Appalachians and the Scottish Highlands are the same mountain range, split up as the continents drifted apart. That'll be why you look at pictures of the Highlands and are reminded of Appalachia
The people that dislike the video don’t understand the heritage behind how the Scottish lived their Gaelic lifestyle and who they are and how they Trace their heritage back. Amazing, well done great job
I almost forgot about this song. I used to always sing this song after watching Brave in correct accent and became a big fan of scottish culture. I'm so happy I bumped into this video again! Brings back so many childhood memories. 🥺

Outstanding "unplugged" performance. Fowlis is an amazing singer. The only downside was that she really needed some backup singers for the "Na Na" parts. Those just don't work with one singer, no matter how good she is. Also it really infuriates me that this song only has two verses. It really needs a third one.

For anyone who loves Julie's voice, she's also released multiple albums singing songs in Gaelic.
I love them all, so I wish they'd translated the two songs from Brave that she sings into Gaelic.
