Power injection tip, i have some of the smaller ones, not really long enough for power injection but i did it anyway, the wires went nicely down the triangular hollow section behind where you stick the LEDs
Chris, absolutely love the production quality of your videos. Everything is so polished and well thought out. I’ve been hooked now and just started my road down doing custom LED projects. One thing I’d love to see you go over with your set ups is how you conceal and hide the wires and the power sources. If you could make a video around that topic I would love to see what you’re doing to hide these wires and bulking power supplies.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you are liking the videos! So for the most part with all my projects, I just shove everything behind whatever is already in the room. Might be furniture, a center media console, plants, portable electric fireplace etc. Unfortunately, unless you want to go the rout of knocking out some drywall, hiding things behind it, and repairing, options are pretty limited. However, I did make a quick video of something you can do in the event you have to conceal things somewhat in an open room with nothing to put it behind. Here is that video: th-cam.com/video/ibRp6eeUwBA/w-d-xo.html Its not perfect but again, there are not really many options unless you want to go behind a wall (which I don't lol)
Very cool. After watching your video about the Muzata diffuser and Govee M1, I got a set of each and made a DIY fixture that runs along the border between the wall and ceiling in my game room. It looks fantastic, and all the included options for the M1 in the Govee app are astounding. Thanks for showing me how to do it. The diffuser in this video shows promise as well. I have a Govee Glide Wall Light, and it appears like you could make a similar fixture out of these diffusers paired with a quality LED strip. Much appreciation for the inspiration.
Thanks so much and that's so cool you were able to do that! Glad you liked how everything turned out! Yeah there are so many options with these diffuser (or really any diffuser channel that works well) I'm currently working on a DIY floor lamp using these that I'll hopefully have done in a week! Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment!
Another use I found for these is when I wanted a little more brightness and depth to my desk backlights. My lights I double rowed using one strip (folded back to go the other way). I divided them by using the diffusers I had left over from the RGB crown molding project I had already finished, and it left an amazing look with more movement and vibrancy
Awesome thanks for the info on that channel. I would like to see how it looks with two different led strips in it. Specifically if it is still spotless with 60 leds per meter with the dual strips and only 1 strip being lit. I am going to build some RGB and a WWA dual strip build with a 2 meter channel of this type.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Thats a great question! I have not tried it out but if you have 2 strips in there side by side and each strip is 60 leds per meter but if only 1 strip is on, my guess is that it would still be spotless. I'm not 100% sure but I think the fact that the strip would be slightly off centere would not make a big enough difference. If you do try this, let me know and I'll do the same!
I was wondering the same thing. I was looking into this for a lighting option for my office, but I haven't set it up yet since I don't have a circular saw, and I'm not sure how to set up the end of the channel in order for the power cable to plug into my outlet. 🤷
@@ChrisMaherDIY My pleasure. I've already shown this to my buddy and we're definitely going to incorporate these into some upcoming projects! I love your channel. Keep on keepin' on brother!
Love the video, thank you. I don't see the link for the narrow strip unless I'm mistaken. Would you mind sharing? Will probably use those for. Under shelves. Thanks
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! yeah they certainly are more expensive than most v shaped diffusers but I imagine its just because they are much bigger then the other ones. Hopefully they will go on sale at some point!
These look great although outside with the sun, the frosty white cover will turn yellow after a few years. They offer an anti-uv cover for another led channel which might better outdoors. Obviously not an issue indoors.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That's a good point. I have not tried these outdoors myself yet but I hope to at some point and I can then see how they hold up in the elements!
Thanks so much for watching! That's a good question. I don't have any tool to measure that but my guess is maybe around 30%? On full brightness, its very hard to look directly at them (too bright) so I know they for sure let a good amount through!
For my son's birthday coming up I was going to install led strips around the top wall/ceiling of his entire room (he's obsessed with LEDs). What look do you like best for the top corner of a room, the 45 degree channels, a strip pointing out from the wall, down from the ceiling, or up towards the ceiling?
Would like to put something like this around top corner of the ceiling in a room, Do they have inside and outside corners? I see they have a 90° but I don't think that would go around the room maybe turn and go down the wall. unless I'm looking at those wrong. Do you prefer the Govee over the BTF-Lighting everyone uses on the WLED pages?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! These would be perfect for that but I looked and cant seem to find any corner connector pieces (I'll reach out to the company and see if I'm just missing something) Like Jamie said though, if no connectors, I would try using a miter saw and see how that works. I've cut aluminum profiles before using a miter saw and it works great. I do recommend wrapping the part that you will be cutting with painters tape as that helps keep everything from moving around and helps keep the plastic diffuser and aluminum from chipping.
I appreciate your videos and actually have gotten into led lights because of watching! My next project is 200 led smart fairy lights on a 2’-4’ peg board using WLED for my girlfriend for Christmas. You brought up in your video that you could run cob and rgbic lights together, who would you wire that/use WLED with that set up if possible? Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words! So I would maybe just use a different controller for the Cob lights. I did get some COB strips working using WLED but If I remember correctly it was pretty messy. I'll maybe try doing it again and making a video of the process in case someone is interested. Hopefully I can get to is sooner rather than later. I don't remember exactly how the wiring all worked but I do remember I had to use these to get the COB strip to work: amzn.to/3Hpq0kK
Id like to install these diffusers in my kids room with the govee m1 strip. Do these channels have mounting holes for corner mounting? Thanks for the video...
Nice! Chris, I bought 20 of the ones you have suggested previously. They seem to work okay, but the mounting clip and screw are wonky and kind of a joke - the clip doesn't leave room for the screw head in attempting to hold the channel evenly. It doesn't seem to do it well. The screws included are pretty useless. I ended up not using either, instead opting for double sided 3M tape. I am going to caulk that joint and then our daughter will paint the exposed part of the channel white to match our trim. Do you have any other ideas or tips on those? I feel like we should reach out to muzata and try to help them finesse the design. It does look like they redesigned the mounting clip to be recessed for the screw - good on them.
Thanks for watching and for the advice! I have yet to try mounting them on a wall or anything yet so I'm curious to see what my experience will be like! But I like your ideas and appreciate you sharing them in case anyone else (myself included) runs into this when installing! Always good to hear from you buddy!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Chris, I'm sorry if I confused you, the diffusers I am referring to mounting are the ones you have been using for a long time. I am pretty sure you have wall mounted them before. I guess I should have commented in one of your other videos, but thought here was good because of the new corner diffusers. So if you have any other thoughts on how those mounted to walls, etc, let me know. Thanks!
@@usa-earth Ahh I see! Thanks for the clarification! So I don't remember them being difficult to install. (I used the included clips and screws to install the diffusers in this video: th-cam.com/video/XhMnKVqAIWw/w-d-xo.html) And then in this video: th-cam.com/video/i6Dp9ALQLSc/w-d-xo.html I used these amzn.to/3iP3I1I to hang them since my wife didn't want any more screw holes that she would eventually have to patch in the living room walls. Those removable pads worked great as well!
Damn, another great video on LEDs. I now have more projects to think about with these. Just when I thought I had it all done from your past videos. I do hope you will show some more wood working ideas. Those are truly game changers.
Lol thanks Mark! Appreciate it! I for sure have some more ideas involving wood! I'll try getting to them as long as I get some warm days in the winter. Working in my garage that's not heated when its 10 degrees out is not fun lol. At some point I would love to insulate and heat things so I could do things more year round!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I recently destroyed a buck converter after trying to solder in my garage in 30* weather and accidently bridging a bunch of pads together. Apparently shivering hands and soldering small pads do not go well together. I can only imagine the consequences of shivering hands while working with a table saw 😬
Thanks as always for watching! The longest I ever connected is 15 meters. I think I ended up doing a couple power injection points on that. I do eventually want to do a video where I go over putting something like this around an entire room and go over wiring, power injection etc.
Hello Chris, Thank you very much for all your videos. I am working on a DYI outdoor project for under steps LED lighting, so it has to be waterproof and dotless. One run is 38' long and 2 steps of 13" long each. I don't think I have enough space for channel. What would you recommend?
Thanks so much for watching! It would depend on what type of led strips you are using and how many leds per meter they have. There are only a couple led diffuser channels I have every seen that perfectly diffuse strips that have 60 leds per meter. The one in this video and the one in this one: th-cam.com/video/1SKo_HdKVYA/w-d-xo.html If your using an led strip that has 100 leds per meter or more then you can get a perfect diffused look on a lot of channels. I really have not done a waterproof outdoor project yet so i'm not much help on the best way to go about that! But sounds like a very fun project and might just take some experimenting with different ideas to come up with one that works best!
Hello mate very new to this channel and very very new to electronics. One of your videos helped me in 10 minutes the other 5 hours I was looking at TH-camrs that were little to no help wish I came here 1st. So a big thanks for the help on setting me up the right way with a ESP8266 with WLED. I haven’t looked through all your videos yet and was wondering if you had one that used more than 1 BTF lights on the8266 as in the app there is a sync option for more lights. Again thanks for the help 🍺🙏
Thanks so much for watching and glad the videos have helped! So here is some good information on multiple led strips on the esp with WLED: kno.wled.ge/features/multi-strip/ But In my power/injection video I do hook up more than 1 led strip to test things out: th-cam.com/video/KFtjf5mD6tA/w-d-xo.html but also I know i sometimes have like 3 controllers controlling 3 different strips and there is a sync feature on WLED that lets me control them all at once (this does not make them all appear as a single strand of light though if that makes sense) But again thanks for the comment and I'm still learning a lot myself so as long as people keep watching the videos i'll keep making them!
Thanks so much for watching! These will do as good of a job as anything you will find but you will still see hotspots. If you are going for a perfectly diffused look, you will have to use a strip that has at least 60 leds per meter. Now I have not tested this out yet, but since you can run 2 strips side by side in these, there is a chance that you could run two strips that have 30 leds per meter and stagger the lights a little. That might get it to look perfect but i'm not 100% sure. If I test this out I'll for sure make a quick video on it!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! For pretty much all my projects I'm able to just hide everything behind something in the room. Sometimes its a plant, center console, furniture or whatever it may be. Since its just sitting there I really dont put it in anything to protect it. However I know some people have mentioned that you could put the esp in a travel type soap dish. And unless you are wanting to go to the trouble of hiding things behind your wall, there are just not that many options. I did make a video that goes over one way you can go about somewhat concealing things if you dont have a place to hide it behind! th-cam.com/video/ibRp6eeUwBA/w-d-xo.html
Working on a build right now using these channels! If I want to run two strips and have them run in parallel (pixels from each strip pair together), would I just wire them on the same data channel?
Thanks for watching and great question! Yes that is what you would do. For that I usually run 1 data wire from the controller and then use a 3 slot wago clip to split the data and in the other 2 open slots of the connector I put the 2 data wires going to my led strip. It's essentially the same as if you just twisted all 3 wires together. Hope that makes sense!
So glad I have found your channel, you would be proud I have taken for different Govee M1 lights and cut them at various half meter links and then re-solder them all together. Nice and tidy on four different pieces of furniture that are going into a new game room/office. It turned out awesome. Ended up using about 125 feet of wire and like 250+ solder connections. I wish I can send you a picture! I have a 10 x 12 outdoor studio shed that I plan to do these diffusers around the entire ceiling . I understand that you can connect up to two Govee lights together and have them act as one. However, that will not go around the entire circumference of my room. Do you recommend putting two of them together covering three of my walls and just add a second one to another wall, even though it won’t be symmetrical? Or do you recommend I split the room and a half so that both sides of the room are symmetrical left and right? What do you think would look better?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That sounds like one epic project you did! I would love to see a picture! my email is outrunprojects@gmail.com It might take a while but I always try to respond to emails even if its not right away! Man, I would personally try going the symmetrical rout. I think that would look better imo!
@@ChrisMaherDIY sent you an email with my entire project and some advice questions. Hopefully you like it! Let me know if the videos don’t come through sent it from my iPhone
Thanks so much for watching and great question! All the examples at the end are using the btf lighting ws2812b led lights that have 60 leds per meter and controlled using WLED installed on an esp device. I might make a quick follow up video if people are interested in what it looks like with the govee m1 but its very similar except for the animations are a little different on the Govee app compared to what you have on the WLED platform!
I just saw these yesterday on Amazon and thought they would be perfect for doing led style “crown molding” in my new studio build - great to see your tests shows they will work perfectly thanks for these videos!!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Perfect timing lol! Yeah they would be perfect for that. I'm checking to see if they have corner connectors for this one and I'll let you know if they do. I couldn't find any so my guess is angles would just have to be cut with a miter saw or something.
@@ChrisMaherDIY ok I was wondering that as well. Also what blade on the miter are you using? I’m new to the cutting world and trying to learn how to get clean cuts on metals thanks!
@@xchangemusic I've just used the standard blade that came with my miter saw but I've seen other people recommend a fine tooth blade. I do recommend wrapping the part that you will be cutting with painters tape as that helps keep everything from moving around and helps keep the plastic diffuser and aluminum from chipping!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Perfect! Thank you for the info and great tip on the painter's tape I remember seeing guys do that with tile cuts as well to stop chips so I will try that for sure!
I did that actually!! My RGB crown molding project went really well. I used govee's rgbic pros (24 led p/m) and staggered them. Keep in mind I did this before the m1 came out. I have kind of a cool pattern in the diffuser but it turned out great!!!!
What do you recommend using to cut the aluminum channel for the diffuser? I have a miter saw with a wood cutting blade in it. Do you recommend using that type of blade or do I need to upgrade to a metal cutting blade?
Thanks for watching! I've always just used the standard blade that my ryobi saw came with and have never had any issues. I do recommend taping where you will be cutting with some painters tape to give things more reinforcement and to cut back on chipping.
Chris I have just purchased the M1 strips based on your reviews so thank you for these videos. My question is, my leds will be set into recessed aluminum profile embeded into the ceiling and want to know which is the best diffuser to hide the spots to create the spotless effect. The depth of my profile will only be 9mm so the leds will be quite close to the diffuser. After watching this video I am. Thinking it might be best going for the milky type diffuser, although it will block a higher percentage of the light compared to semi clear for example. Any help woukd be very much appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Looks like they are still available for me (I'm in the US) Thanks for the info! I looked up LED Space and they do look awesome! This is the one that looks great! www.ledspace.co.uk/products/wide-rounded-corner-led-profile I even like how the back is rounded because it very rare that a corner in your house will be perfectly 90 degrees so that rounded back will help!
OMG great video! I am going to be repainting my sons room and he wants led lighting along corner of the wall ceiling and I have been trying to find some cost effictive solutions for at minimum 2 9ft walls, I have regular 16x16 v shaped channels in my livingroom and the spot are quite evident at with my white only 60led/m strip in them. Need a better link to these channels thoough if that is possible as its not actually linking to the product. Also do you lose lots of light output when using the white only color for regular room lighting?
I wish Muzata would offer a spotless channel that’s shallower than 1”. The curve of the smaller size leaves the channel 13/16” still, which makes it’s impossible to recess into floating shelves in my application. 😞
With how wide these are and the ability to have 2 sets of strips, what would it look like if you staggered 2 30 LED/m strips? Would it get a smooth diffused light or would there still be dark spots?
Thanks for watching! Thats a great question! If I have time in the next few days I might try doing that and see if it creates the same or similar spotless look. If I do get around to it, I'll make sure to record it and post it on my channel! thanks!
I did that actually in staggering them out, it's almost perfect.... Almost. You end up with this pattern in the lights from the diffuser, not necessarily dark spots but not neon/no hot spot.
Hey Chris. Really appreciate this video. I have a related question for you if you have the time. I am going to try the V101 super wide profile channels so that I can use two LED strips side by side for higher density. I am trying to uniformly light a 9' x 6' wall mural and so I have a very long ceiling section that is going to need to be built up from several channels butt-up against one another. I'm concerned about the imperfect / gaps between the diffuser covers and the associated alignment causing lighting artifacts on the wall. Do you have an insight as to whether or not this will actually be a problem and if so is there anything I can do about it short of having someone machine a custom channel for me? Thanks in advance!
Merry Christmas @Chris Maher! How are these in corners? Do they have corner connectors or will I just have to cut them? Thank you for what you do! I am just planning my first LED install for my kid (well 19 year old collage student that loves to game)
Merry Christmas to you! Hope you were able to spend some good time with the family! As of now, I dont think they have corner pieces which is a huge bummer. I hope at some point they will make them because it cant be that hard to do and I'm sure they would sell a ton of them! But yeah, for now I would just try cutting them and see how they look!
Do you have one you recommend from there and do they sell any that are 30 mm like this one or just the standard 15mm kind? Thanks so much for watching!
Why dont you use the ws2815 strips? They are 12v so require much less power injection and have a data backup line so pixel failures dont take out the rest of the strip. It all works with the same code as the ws2812.
You could for sure use ws2815 on these. I really like those and just did a video recently on them! I have a lot more ws2812b led strips laying around to use right now than ws2815. Cant go wrong with either one though!
WS2815's do work well, but they're a lot less power efficient (more waste heat, even when off) than WS2812b's or SK6812's. If it's possible to do power injection, my vote generally goes for 5v strips. If not, WS2815's will do.
Great video, quick question, hopefully you'll see this. The link takes me to the Amazon page, but when you scroll down and click on the product, it takes you to a different model of diffuser. Do you know where else I could buy from?
What diffusers do you recommend for outdoor use? Are they waterproof ? If not can I install waterproof led strips inside of them will that work? Any waterproof 60 led strip you recommend ? Thank you
Thanks for watching and I think you're right. I'm trying to see if I can find anything comparable on other platforms that have more worldwide availability. I'll let you know if I do find something!
Is it possible to control two different length strips with the esp32s with wled? I want to setup some under shelf lights and the shelves are 2 different lengths
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! You can easily do that! With WLED you can either attach 1 led strip to one pin on the esp and the other led strip to another pin and control them separately that way or you can create segments and then control each segment separately in WLED. For example if you wanted led 1-45 to be one segment and then led 46-60 to be the second segment you can do that and then control those segments independent of each other!
Thanks so much for watching! I've heard of some people doing it and working! But i know there would be a good amount of strain on the strip to make the turn but according to others, it does work! And you could miter these together and it would probably fit together pretty good but since the diffuser is curved, it might not be totally seamless.
Thanks so much for watching! Some of my favorite settings are android, bouncing balls, meteor, fireworks 1d, and blink to name a few. I hope to do a WLED effects video at some point where I go over my favorite ones!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I'm not sure if this is the style you are looking for but this is one of the biggest rectangle/square style diffuser that I've found so far on Amazon: amzn.to/3Bfi01V
@@ChrisMaherDIY Instead of a thin channel that holds 1-2 led strips, I need something that can hold more. Unless, that 1 or 2 strips can fully illuminate the milky board (dont know the name). Creating a fully lit accent wall
@@15Godrick ahh I see! I'm not aware of anything like that so you might have to go the DIY route and buy some frosted acrylic and build a frame around it or something of that nature. I'll keep an eye out though and if anything looks like it might work I'll let you know!
Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately I don't think they sell their products in many regions. I hope that changes in the future. I am however looking at AliExpress to see if I can find anything comparable to recommend so I'll keep you posted if I do!
could these be used in place for the other video where u cover the room ceiling with 50 feet of leds. how would corners go and will it be able to be placed in the very top corners?
@@ChrisMaherDIY how do they look? And sorry I didn’t proof read what auto correct thought I wanted to say, “could make a short of two of these butted up against each other“ Is what it was supposed to say.
Thanks so much for watching! They certainly would work better than pretty much any other diffuser but they would not look as good as they do in this video. The Govee Pro as far as i'm aware has 30 leds per meter and to get a perfect neon glow, you are going to need a strip that has 60 leds per meter or more. The only Govee product that I think currently has 60leds/meter is the Govee M1.
I wish these didn't come to a sharp point for the corner. These would be awesome if you could mount flat and get that huge diffusion. On top of that the sharp corner might be problematic for some mounting. Caulk, weird corners and not straight edges will give fits in some applications.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Great question! If I had to guess, I would say you could use a 5v, 10a for 30 feet of leds and it would probably look good on most animations and colors with no power injection. (i could be wrong but that's my guess) If you turn things to white and put it at full brightness, you will for sure see voltage drop happen with no power injection. If you inject power at the end It would be much better but I think you still might notice some drop-off in the middle. However, if you turn the brightness down a little my guess is you could run things great with that power source at a pretty high brightness with 1 power injection at the end. My advice is to always hook things up with no power injection, test things out and go from there depending on the results.
Thanks so much for watching and great question! Are you wanting it to get rid of all hotspots so it looks like a smooth neon glow like in the video or does that not matter for the application you had in mind?

I can't find anywhere to buy this type. Have you any on this class that you know about to buy?
Thanks so much for watching! It looks like they are still available on Amazon (i'm in the US) But my guess is they might just not be available in your region. I know they sell a lot of similar items like this but most all others that I have found are 15mm but this one is 30mm. So if you are looking for some, I would look at the dimensions and see if you can find any that are 30mm as well which will give it the best chance of perfectly diffusing the leds with strips that have 60 per meter.
Hey Chris. Have you had any issues with your WLED App crashing when trying to add a Arduino to it. It's in some forums with no answer any fixes and thought perhaps you had some insight.
Thanks so much for watching! I've never really had too many issues with WLED. I mostly am using WLED via the android app. Every once in a while things will be unresponsive and I have to unplug and plug in but that's not very often. I know WLED is always coming out with new versions/updates so I would maybe check to see if your running the latest version.
@@ChrisMaherDIY I did. And checked most recent reddit pages and forums and there's an issue across the board when trying to add new Lights via the discover tab that the entire app crashes on Android

As always fantastic video, I was curious if you were to run these diffusers around all 4/4 of a room or you recommend dealing with the corner portion? I understand I could cut the aluminum at an angle and have them but up to each other but what I do with the diffuser milky too portion?
Thanks as always buddy! Thats a good question! I have not cut these yet so i'm not sure how well the milky white diffuser would cut to butt up tight against each other. I would probably just try doing the cut and see how things looked. If there is a big gap or it just doesn't look good, I would probably just put a small square block in each corner so that the flat end of each diffuser butted up next to that and at least is would look clean even though no light would be on the small part of the corner if that makes sense!
@Chris Maher it's fun. I started a bit over a year ago with the cheapest printer ($180) and just took delivery of a $700 one. So I guess you could say I ended up liking it 😅.
Thanks so much for watching! You could for sure do that. I did try putting 2 separate 30led per meter strips in this channel and it worked but there were still some noticeable hotspots so it was not perfect but it still looked nice!
Hello, I followed your link and could not find this V channel on either Amazon US or Amazon CA. Every V channel that I have found has a maximum of 10.5mm which will only allow the lower tier Govee LEDs inside. I can see from your video that the Govee M1 is 12mm which I would like to upgrade to in the future. Any ideas?
Thanks so much for watching! I know the V channel from the video is still available when I click on the link (I'm in the US) I wonder if they just don't sell/ship to your region? I know at least some of Muzatas products are available in Canada so maybe they are just sold out of this one there?
@@ChrisMaherDIY hmmm I think when I click the link, I get a ton of V channels on Amazon US but not the one that you are reviewing. They only have a maximum inner width of 10.5cm. Maybe I also can't see them from Canada because they do not ship here. I really want a V channel for the Govee M1 as my end goal for my living room.
i would love to build a nice led set up. inside zone is 150' of lights and exterior zone is 150' as well. only issue is i cannot seem to find a programmable app or customization app for led's without using a wifi controller/ receiver like the one you use in previous videos. the property is a campsite there is no internet or wifi. only solution i see would be to go with cheaper led's with a hand held remote or to go with a blue tooth music controller. any solutions to my problem i would appreciate the help!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I hope to at some point look into what the best options are for this type of example because like you mentioned, there are a lot of reasons why someone would set up lights where there is no wifi. At this point, if I were to give any advice or recommend products, I would just be guessing as I have not tried anything out. At some point I do want to do a video on best bluetooth led controllers! Maybe if someone else is reading this and has experience can chime in with some ideas!
I wish Muzata would expand their reach. They are missing out on a lot of money by only having their products available in a select few regions. Thanks for watching!

Power injection tip, i have some of the smaller ones, not really long enough for power injection but i did it anyway, the wires went nicely down the triangular hollow section behind where you stick the LEDs
Thanks so much for watching and for the awesome suggestion! That's a great idea and thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for the great tip! Glad it turned out great and glad you also like the diffusers! Always love getting input from others! Thanks!
The demo footage at the end looks sooooo 😎
Thanks buddy! Glad you think so! I'm happy with the way it turned out!
Thank you my friend.
You are very welcome! Thanks as always!!
So happy you just made this!
Glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
So what would be a good idea of using these corner LED diffusers, going around a square ceiling how do you get around the corner spotlessly
I was wondering the same thing. I was looking into this for a lighting option for my office, but I haven't set it up yet since I don't have a circular saw, and I'm not sure how to set up the end of the channel in order for the power cable to plug into my outlet. 🤷
Super cool!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video!

This is the coolest diffuser I have ever seen! Would love this around my ceiling but a but too expensive right now.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! yeah they certainly are more expensive than most v shaped diffusers but I imagine its just because they are much bigger then the other ones. Hopefully they will go on sale at some point!
Wouls be cool to see it with the dual strip configuration.
Thanks for the great video
These look great although outside with the sun, the frosty white cover will turn yellow after a few years. They offer an anti-uv cover for another led channel which might better outdoors. Obviously not an issue indoors.
mine have not gone yellow or even brittle, not these exact ones but have been outside in full sun for a number of years.

Would you use a diffuser for COB led strips under the kitchen cabinets (in the toe kick)?
AWESOME! Nice Work

What are the brightest LED's you can use for shop lighting?
Looks amazingly smooth. How much light is lost in the diffuser? 10%? 50%?
@@wojtek-33 good point. Didn’t even think of that. Thanks
I do recommend wrapping the part that you will be cutting with painters tape as that helps keep everything from moving around and helps keep the plastic diffuser and aluminum from chipping.
just ordered! Thanks!
Another awesome find. Your videos never disappoint.

Looking at doing this to the awning of my store front. Suggestions on waterproofing the power supply and esp32?
Are there thats type diffusors in alliExpress?
Thanks for watching! I have yet to find anything similar to this :(
Id like to install these diffusers in my kids room with the govee m1 strip.
(I used the included clips and screws to install the diffusers in this video: th-cam.com/video/XhMnKVqAIWw/w-d-xo.html)
And then in this video: th-cam.com/video/i6Dp9ALQLSc/w-d-xo.html I used these amzn.to/3iP3I1I to hang them since my wife didn't want any more screw holes that she would eventually have to patch in the living room walls.
Sweet ...what is your longest length using ws2812B ....especially with 5v
Thanks as always for watching! The longest I ever connected is 15 meters. I think I ended up doing a couple power injection points on that. I do eventually want to do a video where I go over putting something like this around an entire room and go over wiring, power injection etc.
@@ChrisMaherDIY YOU ARE AWESOME TY
Hello Chris,
Thank you very much for all your videos.
THMOOTHER? Lol these names are out of control.
Lol I saw that too. It would be fun to know how some of these companies came up with their names! Thanks for watching!
I’m trying to Diffuse my Govee RBIC 30led/m. Will theses work?
Thanks so much for watching! These will do as good of a job as anything you will find but you will still see hotspots. If you are going for a perfectly diffused look, you will have to use a strip that has at least 60 leds per meter. Now I have not tested this out yet, but since you can run 2 strips side by side in these, there is a chance that you could run two strips that have 30 leds per meter and stagger the lights a little. That might get it to look perfect but i'm not 100% sure. If I test this out I'll for sure make a quick video on it!
This is beautifully great
Pls how can I have the knowledge of it, i mean to learn how to install it, pls ,am Mike from Nigeria
Chris, great video mate. I been meaning to ask, how do you go abouts hiding the ESP boards / protecting the boards for the discrete look.
I'll give that video a watch thanks. Soap dish! Great idea.
I want 40 inches. Can I just buy a 32 and a 9 inch and connect both together and put both power on one supply?
i just put up some aluminum channels from hanhan over my garage with 60 led /m ip67 wsb12bs
Sounds like a fun project! How did it turn out?!

Evan, based on your experience, would I be able to cut and extend the Govee m1 at 2’ increments?
Are the lights featured in your example video the Govee M1s?
Thanks so much for watching and great question! All the examples at the end are using the btf lighting ws2812b led lights that have 60 leds per meter and controlled using WLED installed on an esp device. I might make a quick follow up video if people are interested in what it looks like with the govee m1 but its very similar except for the animations are a little different on the Govee app compared to what you have on the WLED platform!
Do they have inside/outside corner pieces for this product for like doing it in the ceiling corner like crown molding
I have kind of a cool pattern in the diffuser but it turned out great!!!!
do you recommend the U1SW from muzata, its the super flat diffuser? also do you have any input on the black tinted diffusers ?
Thanks
Do they have corner pieces to go around the walls for the diffuser?
The company "LED Space" sell a similar V Channel Diffuser since the ones on Amazon are sold out
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Excellent video!! Can i please ask which board is better the esp32 or esp8266?? Thanks
If I do get around to it, I'll make sure to record it and post it on my channel! thanks!
@@ChrisMaherDIY thank you, I’d be very interested in seeing this!
I did that actually in staggering them out, it's almost perfect.... Almost. You end up with this pattern in the lights from the diffuser, not necessarily dark spots but not neon/no hot spot.
Looks like the V101's aren't on Amazon at the moment.
Muzata has other "Spotless" ones, but this v-shaped one is not available as of 03/2023.
Perfect videos ! Thx !
But it looks the V101 is not avaible 😭😭
Do u know other brands or models ?
Sadly their sold out everwhere, even on the offical website :(
Look for xxl diffusers I found some with that name
Can you do a follow up or something because these have been out of stock for some time
I buy mine from Alibaba since I buy him in bulk pricing is pretty good
What do you search for to find them?
Do you have one you recommend from there and do they sell any that are 30 mm like this one or just the standard 15mm kind? Thanks so much for watching!
@@trboerger I post it . I don't see it
Why dont you use the ws2815 strips?
Thanks so much for watching! I just checked and looks like they are sold out :( Hopefully they will be back in stock soon!
3 months ?
What diffusers do you recommend for outdoor use? Are they waterproof ? If not can I install waterproof led strips inside of them will that work? Any waterproof 60 led strip you recommend ? Thank you
We don't have this brand in EU Amazon sadly. I wish someone would point us to a good one over here as well.
Thanks for watching and I think you're right. I'm trying to see if I can find anything comparable on other platforms that have more worldwide availability. I'll let you know if I do find something!
@@ChrisMaherDIY thanks man. We have the same size ones. But I think it has a lot to do with the correct diffuser covers.
Can the Govee M1 not be bent around a 90 degree join of two of these diffuser channels mitred togethor?
Thanks so much for watching! I've heard of some people doing it and working! But i know there would be a good amount of strain on the strip to make the turn but according to others, it does work! And you could miter these together and it would probably fit together pretty good but since the diffuser is curved, it might not be totally seamless.
Hi Chris, how do you do this WLED effects? Can you Tell me the namens of the effects in WLED please or is this what other? About an answer Mans thanks
Thanks so much for watching! Some of my favorite settings are android, bouncing balls, meteor, fireworks 1d, and blink to name a few. I hope to do a WLED effects video at some point where I go over my favorite ones!
@@ChrisMaherDIY that’s great when you make this Video 👍
Yea seems like sk6812 60/m isn’t spotless in the 16x16mm 90 degree diffuser. Unfortunate but will have to order these 30x30 instead
Can u recommend a large rectangular channel? I'd like to light up a section of my wall. 82 x 8 inches
Hello Chris nice vid I wanted to have a V shape diffuser for the govee M1 but this one is not available again. Any other suggestions?
Do you have a link to buy the channels not from Amazon? I am an international buyer.
Could you make a sort of twitch of these channels buttered up against each other like a semicircle?
Thanks for watching! Great question! So you can put these side by side and make a half circle, 3/4 circle or full circle!
@@ChrisMaherDIY how do they look? And sorry I didn’t proof read what auto correct thought I wanted to say, “could make a short of two of these butted up against each other“ Is what it was supposed to say.
@@Hoss_VegasTTV No worries! They look great! Lot of potential with these for easily making some floor lamps with this design!
They been out of these diffuser channels for a while is there any alternative u guys would recommend?
Do you get LED strips with CW, WW, NW or do you just use color to make white?
6 months later and they’re still sold out, I need these badly lol, I have no idea when they are going to release these again but I pray that it’s soon
Can you told me if this works for govee pro rgbic?
Can you use a DC5V10A for 30 feet of LED strips and not have any issues??
@@ChrisMaherDIY I appreciate it. I'll test it out and see what I come up with.
I need a more flush cover for my led light strips to give the best light. so what do you recommend?
And checked most recent reddit pages and forums and there's an issue across the board when trying to add new Lights via the discover tab that the entire app crashes on Android
will these work outdoors?
Looks like the channel diffuser isnt a direct link to the amazon listing. Do you have the exact product page by chance?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Here is the direct link but looks like they might be out of stock on the 1 meter sections: Spotless Diffuser V Channel 1 Meter Sections: amzn.to/3DC1ji8
@@ChrisMaherDIY oo I see, might be why the previous link didn't work. What would be your next best suggestion?
Those diffuser channels are expensive. Maybe I'll just 3D print mine. lol
Thanks for watching! yeah they are not cheap that's for sure! I really do at some point want to take the 3d printing dive!
@Chris Maher it's fun. I started a bit over a year ago with the cheapest printer ($180) and just took delivery of a $700 one. So I guess you could say I ended up liking it 😅.
So what nobody explains in these videos: HOW do I attach these to my ceiling corners?
You cut them
Probably at 45 degree angle..
Hope you figured it out lol
Do you think I would be able to put two led strips in on of those bars but one strip has 30 led per meter?
Thanks so much for watching! You could for sure do that. I did try putting 2 separate 30led per meter strips in this channel and it worked but there were still some noticeable hotspots so it was not perfect but it still looked nice!
But how and where can you get these diffusers? The link to V-chanel diffuser does not provide any buying options. Its like they don't want the money.
There are other 30*30mm 20mm v channels, but they're all just as expensive as this one.
Ok, so... Which diffuser is this then?
Why cant i seem to find these ones when i click the link
once again... product not avail... in Germany :-(
I wish Muzata would expand their reach. They are missing out on a lot of money by only having their products available in a select few regions. Thanks for watching!
