    Really a good and simple to start list, Ceylon spinach can be started from seeds, mine seed like crazy, chillies are the best things to grow, that one plant that kept my hopes up when I was struggling to keep any plant alive🙈 and getting even a chilly from the plant is worth it.

      Haha yes they self seed and grow without care, I have volunteers in many pots too but asking a new gardener to start it with such tiny seeds would be trouble !! Hence I stuck to ready plants that one can pick up from the local nursery , some degree of success and satisfaction is ensured :)

    • @mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies
      @mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks , long time !! A local nursery purchased tomato plant would be ok , not from seed though , transplants , issues and pests are enough to deter new gardener even though a tomato is what every one wants to start with lol :) .

    Have you grown and harvested turmeric in non soil medium? Does it work?

      My entire garden has been non soil ever since I started . I dont see why turmeric should not grow . I haven't grown it though due to space and sun constraints.

    I need your help. I started methi and coriander in my pit but they keep dying after they reach the height of being a microgreen. I used my kitchen seeds for that. What do I do?

    • @mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies
      @mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi !! I have a detailed coriander growing video , please see it for tips and tricks .
      👉Regarding methi , yout problem is water and drainage of your growing medium. Your plants are rotting at soil level in all likelihood , this could be due to above reasons combined with may be inadequate sun.
      Sow methi in rows sprinkling seeds along the row so that seedlings support each other . Water gently from the sides , not from top , water only when soil is dry , ensure proper drainage by use of sand or perlite or vermiculite .Needs atleast 4 hours direct sun . If using a pot , bottom water in holding tray for best results.

    What to do if I have well lit huge balcony but no sunlight? Which plants you would recommend me to plant in summer in Mumbai?

    • @mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies
      @mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edibles need direct sun to fall on the leaves . Either you need grow lights or LED lights with high Kalvin and lumen or else grow shade loving or house plants that do really well in indirect bright light . Summer is not for growing any edibles in Mumbai , it is just too hot .

    I select 5 easy to grow plants for the vege garden to get harvest through the year for a new gardener for motivation and encouragement in my latest you tube video .
    These are plants one can pick up from a nursery , hence easy to kick start the gardening bug !!
    Which 5 plants would you suggest to your friend who wants to grow something for the very first time ? It should be easy and give harvest year round . Let me know in the comments section of the video , do mention the city / state you are growing in so that the suggestions are relevant to gardeners from those locations . My recommendations are for Mumbai and similar weather ( read warm through the year , cooler months from December to February.
