this isn't just another player, this is a "unique player" a one of a kind never going to happen again player. if it was just any old player then they/them or he/her would be fine but this is a unique one he has a gender and his own universe.

Canonically player is stronger than vhs the only reason vhs can put up a fight is because they are in his turf and he basically had to nerf the player locking them out of most of there abilitys if this was full power then player would beat vhs
