African music came to the west with slaves. Long story short, everyone loved it. Syncopation, blues scales, chord progressions and so many awesome tunes and melodies. This has ultimately exploded out through, and mixed with almost the entire planet. From legends like Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis showing what can be done to Led Zeppelin, Herbie Hancock and Jimmy Hendrix discovering the electric world. Right up to modern pop, rock, K-pop, rap, African influences are used in almost all modern music in one way or another.

True Africa did contribute to a lot of popular music, but you may or may not be surprised the trad English, Irish and Scottish music is loaded with syncopation, pentatonics, micro tones, and call and response. All this met up in the North America and fortified and built on it self. Then there is Central Europe, but we’ll leave that for another time.

Obviously American music has deep roots in both the British Isles and African music. But acknowledging the African influences on "black American" music and the music genres pioneered or influenced by them doesn't negate that fact, and is a separate conversation.
Do you know any TH-cam videos of British and Irish traditional music, that display all those characteristics said by musicologist to have been brought into black American music from Africa?

Here are a few examples of things that the irish and european immigrants brought over with them. Not denying the african influence, just gotta remember these american musics tend to form into hybrids. It is a melting pot after all

African music has ultimately come to influence and shape much of Western music that so dominates the world now. Imagine you're a regular white dude chilling in the 1800''s. You think "man, this centuries old church hymn sure is catchy". Then one day you walk by people playing this. Their minds must have been blown, which explains why African influences pervade almost all modern music.

His 3 children were the same age as me and my brother and sister. They even lived with us for quite some time. He is now back in Africa and is battling cancer. Please help him.
