So long story short Nintendo actually sincerely attempted to work with Smash after all this time and effort, Smash finally had enough money coming in with Panda to built into a tier 2 esport, and then GimR nuked the entire thing because it required him to do basic due diligence in running his events.

The community is so far up their own ass about being "grassroots" they downright refuse to work with Nintendo under the insistent perception of (while true 10 years ago) being the underdog. While i agree that they're damn stingy and cutthroat in their legal bs, but constantly antagonizing them will not work on neither the long or short term. Nintendo is so damn clear in their guidelines with the proper planning they're impossible to fuck up like Genesis. Capcom, ArcSystems, Netherrealm and Namco were capable of establishing proper legitimate circuits while not compromising local/regional scenes by working alongside fans and TOs anD the players and fans realize that a big magnitude event requires certain ammount of formality. Ludwig and MoistCr1tikal really shouldn't be allowed to own an esports organisation. If I were a part of Moist Esports's Smash Division I'd be pretty pissed that my bosses are actively sabotaging what little integrity is left of the game they signed me up to compete in.
Because smash never got official support for most of its lifespan, the tournament scene has always been run by people who are essentially fratbros and who retained that level of immaturity onwards. It's exactly why it's the worst community in gaming littered with nothing but shitty drama all the way. Sucks because melee is a wonderful game.

I have a pet theory regarding social and mental development having to do with people who as adults are in careers they effectively started as children, and where success is tied on some level to popularity in addition to some sort of skill and how that insulates them from having to accommodate the blunt end of society by being judged in other ways and against VASTLY more people. Huge ego, ie somewhat sociopathic, but ignorant and immature because their behavior and awareness has never and will never superscede their skill in their niche.

What you have to understand is that Ludwig lost a lot of money for the community and a lot of people's jobs. The reason Tech brings up TKBreezy is because he got brought onto Panda and was actually going to start making money in Smash, but NOPE. Ludwig got mad that some other tournament failed so he had to help those people while ruining the lives of people who were far more involved in it. If anything, Ludwig owes an apology to people like TKbreezy and the other Panda staff.

It’s very telling that Charlie and Ludwig are so aligned with the TOs of most non-licensed tourneys and their stances. It’s almost like they believe they could objectively will their opinions into being merely by spouting them without actually understanding anything about anything whatsoever 🤷🏽♂️ This is why they’re objectively a detriment to their collective audiences. Not in their content itself, mind you, but in how they’re seen as beyond reproach and “in the right” due to how popular their opinions on things are. This is why I will never be a member of the Smash Community despite my enjoyment watching the tournaments. It's so self-destructive and has the largest victim complex imaginable. As for BTS, I feel for them a bit because we know now they were bleeding money at the time and had to shut down 4 months later, but aren't there better ways of making money than forcing community members to pay for watch parties? It's also partially their own fault that they shut down, since they were giving out $100,000 prize pools. Maybe use some of that money to pay your operating costs?

The smash community is the only community i know to literally implode because of stupid decisions. Unfortunately Dr. Alan tried but you can't fix stupid and sadly this is the fault of the community not Nintendo and definitely not Panda global.
The Smash Community has to make a safe and enjoyable environment for ages 10+ and stop spiteing Nintendo. One because of the current community's toxicity and controversy and the game's ACTUAL age range, and the second because it only pours gasoline on an already large fire. Make these changes, and then Nintendo might support or negotiate with the community.
Smash community and poor decision making, name a more iconic duo that seamlessly go together. What makes all of this so much more excruciating is the fact the people with the largest fanbases of the community all seem to be against proper reform even Charlie, who I know means well but, is such a nut gobbler for "Pro" smash players he's just using is platform to disperse nonsense. Thankfully, with people like Tech & Franchise letting others know what's really up with the community I'd say there is still hope.

The watch party fee is still a thing, when asking a smaller streamer they responded with mentioning the fee of watch parties, other streamers who are associated with these said tournament organizers like luminosity or vgbc do NOT have to pay for this waiver fee because it builds up the name of the tournament organizers not the creators, basically if you’re not a popping streamer or maybe if they just don’t find you worth the watch party they’re going to try to make you pay even though you don’t have to, but this does put into question, do they see the watch parties of banned players who stream the tournament? Or do they just pay them, ig we’ll never know
Out of this whole story, it is insane to me that I came out the other side liking how Nintendo handled everything. They did what they could off of the knowledge they had. I also didnt expect to find out Ludwig's "holier than thou" crusade type of tournament actually killed that prize tournament. The whole panda situation makes me really sad. At worst the situation was malicious on VGCBC end and at best it was a misunderstanding between both parties in my opinion. Yet the community still acts like Panda was an evil org despite sponsoring many players in ult, melee and the FGC, bringing a sense of legitimacy to the scene, producing successful content and developing cool products and events like the Panda Cup and the Panda controller. Yet the community acts like they’re evil and they never provided any value. Now numbers are down for ultimate and melee and interest for both games is decreasing while the players, TOs and stats teams fight amongst each other and don’t see eye to eye on anything. Thanks for bringing light to truth of the situation, it’s very tiring to hear the same narrative pushed which lacks all facts and nuance.

I really enjoyed Smash for years. I've played every installment. I've been a fan of the competitive scene, and cheered during many majors. And I have also watched it destroy itself. It's also hard to take a community seriously when most of their high-profile members simped and justified the actions of a ped0 (Nairo) and have the audacity to act like entitled brats when Nintendo doesn't want to be associated with them.

This is the problem i have with smash players they are beyond delusional on every level. You have 1-2ers saying they need to get a secondary for their bad matchups and then as a whole community, you have them legitimately believing they are going to strong arm nintendo into doing whatever they want. For 8 years i have been explaining to people that they dont have the power that they think they have and it's always some dumb excuse. The worst part is that smash players try to have their cake and eat it too. The community is so far up their own ass about being "grassroots" they downright refuse to work with Nintendo under the insistent perception of (while true 10 years ago) being the underdog. Ludwig got mad that some other tournament failed so he had to help those people while ruining the lives of people who were far more involved in it. If anything, Ludwig owes an apology to people like TKbreezy and the other Panda staff.

I still remember when Ludwig was originally going over some of the claims against Alan in his mogul mail. It was the two orgs that were cited in this video that wanted to recreate evo 2013, he even cited the orgs from genesis and all I could think was "...wait wtf makes them a reliable source? Why should I believe any of these guys when they only now come out after Alan? Doesn't that look incredibly suspicious?" all that wasn't even including whether or not Ludwig was in touch with those cited in his video to begin with. I get that he jokes about it a lot but I genuinely believe Ludwig is a straight up narcissist.

Nintendo seemed pretty fair the entire time. Set standards and shut down those who don’t follow those standards. That’s pretty fair and it’s not like any of the regulations were extreme. It’s the smash communities fault for not following the standards that Nintendo set 4 years ago.
Why does Nintendo need to have standards? There weren’t really any before they sent EVO an C&D and everyone was happy being in their own lane. (Hint: It’s because Nintendo has brand insecurities)
@@512TexasRed because legal ramifications. if something happens at an event where they are playing a Nintendo licensed game at, a case can be made they didn’t have proper security or standards. Nintendo would be held responsible because they licensed the game out to an unsafe event.

Furthermore even if they are licensed they could simply add TOS language to their licenses saying they aren’t liable for conduct at the events and organizers would still seek that license.

They own the property rights both physically and intellectually, they are free to license who and what they please. And By no means is their license strict. it’s straightforward, not too greedy, ensures safety and equality for the event, and the company that actually made the game can also profit from it. They put the hard work into making the game so they should make money when people use their game to make money.

Their license isn’t anything other than they won’t sue you for streaming their game. What it covers beyond that is entirely arbitrary. If Nintendo just left independent tournaments to stream and support themeselves the license debacle would not have ever happened.

Panda going down didn't just hurt the Smash community, but the entire FGC in general. People always clowned on the silly quizzes and combo trial videos but now I miss them.

As for BTS, I feel for them a bit because we know now they were bleeding money at the time and had to shut down 4 months later, but aren't there better ways of making money than forcing community members to pay for watch parties? It's also partially their own fault that they shut down, since they were giving out $100,000 prize pools. Maybe use some of that money to pay your operating costs?

BTS was almost certainly panicking due to getting pushed out of dota broadcasting - dota is INSANELY lucrative, I bet their smash division was nowhere near sustainable
This video made me hate both Charlie and Ludwig A whole lot more now, Their followers treat them as some kind of God and leader of youtube but all I see are just a bunch of lazy neck beards that do nothing but stream drama 24/7 to get money and views and to screw up the internet with misinformation, Not only is this about the Super Smash Bros community which I'm glad it's getting what it deserved but to show the world and to show everyone how absolutely wrong Charlie and the other TH-camrs are, If you want a real TH-camr that knows real information about this stuff. Moon Channel is a whole lot better because he's a lawyer and he knows how video game reality stuff works and explains it anymore. Realistic grounded approach.

The smash community is the only community i know to literally implode because of stupid decisions. Unfortunately Dr. Alan tried but you can't fix stupid and sadly this is the fault of the community not Nintendo and definitely not Panda global.

The Smash Community has to make a safe and enjoyable environment for ages 10+ and stop spiteing Nintendo. One because of the current community's toxicity and controversy and the game's ACTUAL age range, and the second because it only pours gasoline on an already large fire. Make these changes, and then Nintendo might support or negotiate with the community.
Smash community and poor decision making, name a more iconic duo that seamlessly go together. What makes all of this so much more excruciating is the fact the people with the largest fanbases of the community all seem to be against proper reform even Charlie, who I know means well but, is such a nut gobbler for "Pro" smash players he's just using is platform to disperse nonsense.
Thankfully, with people like Tech & Franchise letting others know what's really up with the community I'd say there is still hope.
It's a shame... the Smash Community had SO much potential, only for the leaderheads to not only squander it due to their deception and greed but they ended up affecting ALL of the Non-Smash related Nintendo games. i.e. Mario Kart, Pokemon, Splatoon Etc.

The watch party fee is still a thing, when asking a smaller streamer they responded with mentioning the fee of watch parties, other streamers who are associated with these said tournament organizers like luminosity or vgbc do NOT have to pay for this waiver fee because it builds up the name of the tournament organizers not the creators, basically if you’re not a popping streamer or maybe if they just don’t find you worth the watch party they’re going to try to make you pay even though you don’t have to, but this does put into question, do they see the watch parties of banned players who stream the tournament? Or do they just pay them, ig we’ll never know
Out of this whole story, it is insane to me that I came out the other side liking how Nintendo handled everything. They did what they could off of the knowledge they had. I also didnt expect to find out Ludwig's "holier than thou" crusade type of tournament actually killed that prize tournament. It is insane that a youtuber who is constantly making bad takes still holds that much power.
And I know its been said to death, but this is now another check on a long list of awful takes and tight rope walking for Charlie "I cannot call out my friends" MoistCritikal.

God's honest truth. This was so damn satisfying to see a light finally being shone on the sheer hypocrisy of it all. Good riddance BTS. The Melee community being "we grassroots!!1" and "FK NINTENDO WE DON'T NEED THEM!" has done untold, irreparable damage to their scene and, more importantly, the Smash community's commercial viability as a whole - and I hope the Ultimate scene wakes up to that fact
The whole panda situation makes me really sad. At worst the situation was malicious on VGCBC end and at best it was a misunderstanding between both parties in my opinion. Yet the community still acts like Panda was an evil org despite sponsoring many players in ult, melee and the FGC, bringing a sense of legitimacy to the scene, producing successful content and developing cool products and events like the Panda Cup and the Panda controller. Yet the community acts like they’re evil and they never provided any value. Now numbers are down for ultimate and melee and interest for both games is decreasing while the players, TOs and stats teams fight amongst each other and don’t see eye to eye on anything. Thanks for bringing light to truth of the situation, it’s very tiring to hear the same narrative pushed which lacks all facts and nuance.

I really enjoyed Smash for years. I've played every installment. I've been a fan of the competitive scene, and cheered during many majors. And I have also watched it destroy itself. I hope you get what you deserve.

This is the problem i have with smash players they are beyond delusional on every level. You have 1-2ers saying they need to get a secondary for their bad matchups and then as a whole community, you have them legitimately believing they are going to strong arm nintendo into doing whatever they want. For 8 years i have been explaining to people that they dont have the power that they think they have and it's always some dumb excuse. The worst part is that smash players try to have their cake and eat it too. Its grassroots and we just want to be left alone and while we mod melee when nintendo literally only cares about this one thing. Then its we wish we had more money look at these other fighting games. Fuck nintendo though and we wont show the simplest form of professionalism like get the licenses that we need on time.
