The Epiphone 1960 Tribute Plus is an incredibly high quality guitar. I didn't think much about them until I played one a friend owned. I was so impressed I bought one. Mine came with Grover locking tuners and uses actual Gibson 57 pickups. It works in your favor that people are inferring too much with a guitar simply because it has Gibson on the headstock, as the Epi is an absolute steal for the price they are selling for.
I picked up a 2020 Epiphone '60s Les Paul Standard in early January of this year. I've left it completely stock with the ProBucker pickups. It's awesome! All I did was set the action height to where I play. It has that classic Les Paul sound and feel - and I've played MANY Gibsons from all different eras over the past 40 years. It's great how Epiphone have really stepped up their game in recent years!
I love Gibson all of my life but as far as the end of last year, I went on a huge change and purchased a lot of Epihones, they are great, to say the least. And the money you save= more stuff lol. I don't even look back, I love them all. I'm not bragging but I purchased 8 Epi's in the last 6 months or so. Each one is different and they play and sound great. This is coming from a person that only Loved Gibson, now it's Epiphone also. Enjoy your 60's Epi Les Paul. Epi stepping up their game is an understatement lol. So glad they did.

First off, great playing, the touch is in the fingers and you got it. I own the epiphone 60’s tribute plus and those pick ups take away from how that Paul was supposed to sound, the classic 57 pick ups are way smoother in my opinion. However that Gibson sounds truly amazing, that is a beautiful guitar, and I’m very interested in finding that exact colour, love it.
Thanks for the nice demo. The always debated and much contested topic of lower priced Les Paul's due to affordability of the " real thing" for many of us. Keep up the good topics , Paul from Kanada.

Hi Mike! Glad to see your latest video and that you are alive and well! I am a long-time radio personality in Austin, Texas and mess around with guitar a bit for fun. Just enjoy hearing how you get all those sounds. By the way, love the vintage Maxtor external hard drive! Take care and keep the videos coming! It's boring out here!
Nice playing! 🤘🏼 These have swapped one flavor of PAF for another. The Epiphone 60s Tribute comes stock with Gibson 57 humbuckers. The Gibson 60’s Tribute comes stock with Burstbuckers. No need to change them unless you want high output metal pickups. To be fair, the SD Antiquity are over $300 a set, so not exactly budget pickups. If you’re dropping three to $500 into a $1200 guitar I’m not sure qualifies as a budget anymore
I just picked up a epiphone Les Paul 1960 tribute in midnight ebony for $350! I had a midnight sapphire about 5 years ago and hated to let it go. I was excited to pick this one up.
I always try to watch your videos you are such a wonderful player and you know what your talking about. I think the Gibson has a more thick and more full sound than the epi and the distortion is totally wicked ..it's hard to find anything to take the spot of a real les paul..awesome video thank you for posting.
On side note, for me, the only difference betwixt my Gibson LP std. and Epiphone LP Custom is one I was able to buy cash the other I had to buy credit. Other than that they both get the job done on stage and in the studio.
Wait, now you sound like Jeff Beck haha you are very versatile and I think you have a great personality. You know the music seems to come through as I watch you play. I can feel it with you. You are immersed and so you come through as real.

Another great video Mike. To my ears and my liking, I preferred the Gibson sound and its pickups better. I'm not taking away anything from the Epiphone because it sounds very good also. What has won it for me in the Gibson is the Neck Pickup is more the classic sound, rounder, deeper and creamier. I know it sounds like I'm talking about a chocolate cake or something lol but I can hear it. I watched your video on your Ampeg VT-40 and it has inspired me. Since that video of yours, I've wanted that sound you got and it didn't hurt That I'm a huge Stones fan, so you know where I'm coming from lol. After that video, I had purchased an Ampeg V-4 early 70's Head. I've already had for years a Mesa Boogie 4/12 Cab. I used to use it with a Mesa Boogie Colosium Mark IIB nothing wrong with the head it does most of what I want just not all the sounds I want. When I drove nearly 4 hours to get The Ampeg I tested it and fell in love. It is my go-to head. I use it every day. Lifting the head up is heavy lol. It has 4) 7027A power tubes in it. Saying it's loud is an understatement. It does not distort or break up no matter how loud you play it and I want that. The reverb built-in is the best I ever heard. The Midrange and EQ switches are what separates them from the rest. If I want an overdrive, distortion, delay, and other effects I just add them. It takes pedals really well. With all the digital tech out there and the amp modeling, it's close but no cigar in my opinion. I had different modeling effect boards and effects. Nothing sounds like the Vintage Ampeg sound, nothing. I traded in all my new effect boards and modeling and replaced them with ALL Electro-Harmonix pedals and loopers. Drums are from my Beat Buddy. I can make all guitar sounds, keyboards, organs, and many other sound effects and put everything together myself. One Man Band if you will. That's what gets me into a more creative flow. To each his own and it all Started with that fantastic Ampeg, thanks Mike...oh. forgot to mention when I purchased two other pedals Guess what was sitting on the floor? an Ampeg V-4 head lol. Did I ask if it's for sale? yup. This is my second one lol. I just couldn't walk away because it was a steal. You never know about very old amps and I would have kicked myself if I had walked away. Keep uploading Videos, Mike.
Epiphone has really stepped up their game, with the exception of electronics. They still, for the most part, insist on using cheap pickups, pots, switches and capacitors. Once you junk all of that and put in quality electronics, it can result in a really great guitar. I don't have any Gibsons, but I have three USA Hamer guitars ro compare to, and I now have 4 Epiphone Les Pauls, an Epiphone Dot and a Epiphone SG....all of which sound and play amazing and go out on the road as often, maybe even more often than my Hamers. One of the Les Paul's that I have has gone to almost every show I've done for years. It's just an amazing guitar. I would run into a burning building to save it. I just bought a Epiphone Tommy Thayer Electric Blue, and it's an amazing guitar stock. No need for upgrading.
The Epiphone never originally came with Epiphone pickups so I don't understand where he gets the idea from that the Epi PUs were weak. Gibson 57s installed in China. No weight relief. Switchcraft switches and knobs. Locking tuners. Good quality case. Bargain. If very picky you could argue that the pretty top is maple veneer on top of a not so pretty maple cap. I paid under £550 for mine whereas an equivalent Gibson would have been over £2,000 a few years ago.
