      You're very welcome! I'm also super excited that the Tengu's connection to swordplay is in tact too. Some of my favorite tengu are sword masters and Jinx-eaters.

    40:40 · Hobgoblins
    Kenzer & Co. (@KenzerCo) did Hobgoblins well for their Kalamar setting. In Kalamar, Half-Hobgoblins exist and the Hobgoblins are NOT simply big goblins.
    PathFinder is missing the chance to break away from the Goblins and Hobgoblins are just different sizes. As a militaristic Ancestry, @Paizo could mix traditions, beliefs/legends, and tactics of Spartans, Aztecs, Apache, Napalize, Centurions, USMC¹, Samurai, Cimmerian, Klingon, Ariel (WoT), etc.
    Instead of drawing them as large goblins; @Paizo should differentiate between goblin, hobgoblin and Bugbear Ancestries. Imagine artwork using a mix of features from Samurai armour, the Kalamar² version for 3.5, the EarthDawn Trolls (FASA) and Klingons.

    No, the lizardfolk intelligence flaw does not make sense. There is lore about them being scholars who study astrology. Not to mention it’s problematic given aspects of their lore, notably them suffering from human colonialism. I thought they were going to change it but nope, they just had to stick with problematic elements inherited from D&D.

      So I do agree with there being lore regarding the astrology aspects to their culture. But we're looking at what this book makes mention of in regard to the remastered materials. The primary take-away I got from their entry was a new focus on their respect of tradition and away from the old xenophobic Lizardfolks from D&D.
      I do disagree with them having "problematic elements" in particular when in the context of stat boosts/flaws. This might be an unpopular opinion but whenever folks look at "flaws", I'm always hearing it almost solely as a flaw in character.
      I am a firm believer that flaws and the associated challenges faced to overcome them is what builds character not hinders it. Having an ancestral penalty to your intelligence doesn't mean all lizardfolk are mindless savages - the journey is just different for a lizardfolk than it would be for another who's ancestry might have more deep-rooted associations with academic pursuits.
      Astrology is a great example. To "know" and categorize the stars would be intelligence, but to interpret destiny and understand it's greater meaning would, for me, be more associated with Wisdom.
      Suffering from humans seems to have been shifted towards a general encroachment of their natural lands and the dissolution of their values and traditions at the hands of those from "civilized" cultures. I actually prefer this, just because its a far more robust narrative for me to use as a GM.
      thanks for your message it really got my noodle cooking on Lizardfolks for my future adventures. ^_^

      @@deadaussiegamerlive it’s not a good way to handle it at all. Flaws should be character centric and not a race thing, because even ignoring gross con notions that come with that, it’s bad storytelling, lazy and feels awful. I’d much prefer better rules for giving characters flaws rather than labeling an entire culture and people as “less intelligent”. That way, we can play as things like a socially awkward iruxi with 8 charisma or a human guy who is an idiot with 8 intelligence. Since ‘overcoming a flaw” is a character thing and not a gross problematic “race” thing.
      James Jacobs himself said the intelligence flaw is only a holdover from D&D, and that it does not fit their lore and that it is problematic. So why Paizo didn’t change it is beyond me.
      There are so many iruxi NPCs from adventures to sourcebooks that are scholars, and the only reason I got from Paizo is they wanted to limit as many changes as possible from thr original iterations, which sounds like a non-reason

    Do dragon blood need a feat to have a tail or like iruxi or nephilim, can they just have a tail, no feat needed?

    • @deadaussiegamerlive
      @deadaussiegamerlive  หลายเดือนก่อน

      From what I see now they dont start with one unless they're a lizardfolk. But I do recall there are a few feats that give the dragons claw/bite/tail attack

    Why did they keep the intelligence flaw for lizardfolk?!??! That’s not lore accurate and is a holdover from dnd, not to mention its problematic given their lore
