Hello, the garage internet is an off the shelf Telstra cellular wifi. It costs $25 per month for 30 Gb. It’s on all the time and updates the Tesla Y as well. The emergency internet is internal to the Powerwall and invisible to me with no ongoing cost. Cheers
Thanks for the video Steve, how are you finding the Tesla app now that you have the battery and car all in the one app? I’m in Figtree, about to put down a deposit on a power wall 3.
Hi Steve I got one installed on Friday, down here in Shellharbour. The internal WiFi Of the powerwall 3 stopped working on Sunday. I have read it is a common problem, have you had this yet? I have to hardwire it to my router. Pretty ordinary for a new release battery. I have Agl ev plan also. The battery topped up at 12pm all nights except for Sunday, I don't know why, gremlins I suspect. Good video keep it up.
Hi Steve, did the Strata / Building management put up roadblocks for you? I've tried to get a 240v normal power outlet installed in my garage and apparently it is classified as a "major renovation" as it involves amending common property, so new by-laws have to be drafted and approved by the owners corporation and the next AGM. Seems a bit overkill for a wall socket, was that your experience?
I got strata approval for the battery but didn’t raise the point about adding power outlets. I agree that adding a power outlet should not be seen as a major renovation. I suggest you go to the strata management company and ask their opinion. Or just do it and apologise later!
Unfortunately no 3 phase backup from TPW3. You obviously have a very forward thinking body corporate. Good work explaining the workflow for apartment installs. I hope more body corporates get onboard.
Its interesting you select AGL. Cheap coal power overnight & expensive during the day. Weve ordered a PW3 to also hook up to existing 6.6kW system. Amber Electric has been great for very cheap weekend daytime charging wtih over 70% grid renewables. Having the battery will wipe out expensive power in the evenings. Cant wait!
Yeah I tried Amber for a quarter you definitely need a battery with Amber. I switched to wholesale electricity - Amber Electric th-cam.com/video/H4mZQHyr404/w-d-xo.html
Have to wonder what sort of a corner AEMO is painting themselves into. If you won't get anything for exporting your excess solar or even get billed for doing so I guess the grid doesn't need it, so what if all the rooftop solar decided to stop exporting enmass for 6 hours on a hot Janurary day? Just following the price signalling from AEMO to it's natural conclusion.
Hi Steve. Great video. Would be interested in your thoughts regarding Tesla and Elons recent political stance in America. I’m beginning to find it hard to support Tesla and have heard of people selling their model 3s as they no longer feel like they want to support Elon. It’s a shame as the Tesla experience seems to be the best in the market, both for cars and home batteries.
Hello, yes I’m a little conflicted but not about to drop Tesla products, or some shares I own which have gone up since Trump won. It seems to me Elon’s drift to the right was sparked by Biden not inviting him to the EV summit a few years back and crediting Mary Barra of GM with kicking off EV’s in the USA. More recently Elon has criticised the regulatory authorities in the USA for holding back Space/X and also the launch of FSD. On top of this Elon has a concern about US Government debt. So I think Elon’s play is to the support the Republicans and get regulatory approvals made easier and slash costs. Though this is at odds with Trump being a climate denier and the Tesla mission of accelerating the move to sustainable energy. The next 4 years will be chaotic, but I think Tesla will be a beneficiary. Cheers
It's pretty hard to grip the idea people suddenly hate a product they praised, because of the company founders political beliefs... Do you like the product, if so - use it. Who cares what the boss does in his own time.
Funny how people think its okay to judge someone, based on their personal beliefs. Do some homework before sleepwalking the narrative you have been fed.
Hey steve, i have the same set up solar panel as yours. Im planning to get pw3 battery as my winter bill is crazy expensive due to running the heater through the split system. Can you please do a video about your first bill after installing your battery. Thanks
Steve with such little amount of power from your solar, maybe look into a small wind turbine to help feed your batrery on cloudy / rainy days.
Excellent Steve, first Aussie T PW3 video (by a non company)
Glad you found it useful! Please subscribe and share. Cheers
Great video, thank you
Thanks for watching. Cheers
I'm keen to know more about your normal and emergency internet setup for the Powerwall 3.

Hi, I wanted the integration of going with the Tesla ecosystem and it all works well.
Hi Steve

Gday, thank you. No I haven’t had the wifi issue yet but thanks for the heads up. Cheers

@@stevestesla9120extension leads can be dangerous.
Clean electric future is the go, and rooftop PV is just part of that.
Wouldn't of thought a bit of conduit and outlet on a wall box would be major renovating. That's just odd.

Thanks! I hope they do too, apartment living needs this technology. Cheers

Yes. I don’t think you can stop exporting unless you have a battery. See my earlier video justifying the cost of a battery, cheers
So they don't use the built in Tesla inverter in the P3?
Yes the P3 has its own inverter. I now have one spare for the next person in our block to install solar
@stevestesla9120 how much does the external invert cost fully installed.?
Obviously that would be a saving with rooftop PV and the Tesla battery.
@ hello, the external inverter was $2,200 plus installation at the time of the solar panels

Hello, I will but I need a full 3 months on the battery so I’ll need to get through this part quarter first.
