*Unfollowing Instagram models/fitness models and removing them from my discover page is the best thing I've ever done for myself.* Now I just follow my friends and a bunch of meme accounts and my world is a happier place.
Edit: To remove certain things from your discover page, click on the photo and then the three dots in the upper right hand corner. A menu will pop up and one of the options will be "See fewer posts like this." You'll probably have to do it a few times, but they mostly stop showing up unless you start looking at photos like that a lot again.
most of my instragram are cats travel inspiration and fitness models some friends tooo but not all are at instagram :D Funny is when i come to instagram and what I see are only cute cats and i liking all of them lol

@Leanne Rivera-- Ha! I got three years on you, for another three months, and then I'll have FOUR years on you! (Unless your birthday is between now and then.) Anyway, I can't agree with you more about the serious message behind Christine's (and Ben's) videos. Teaching (mostly) girls to be self-sufficient and self-supporting is a really important lesson. We are old enough that most of us were taught that we'd grow up, get married and be "taken care of." Unfortunately, that's not reality anymore, and wasn't by the time we reached marriageable age, either. We early Gen Xers couldn't even prepare ourselves for the future by going to college because most of the jobs we were trained to do in college don't really exist anymore. They knew our chosen majors weren't going to prepare us, but they didn't know what jobs WOULD be available for us, either. I faced the same issue when I went back to college in 1991 at 29. Even my legal secretary instructor didn't have a clue. She told me the only job that she knew *for sure* would still be available in 10 years was computer programming/coding.

I'm a fifteen-years old girl surrounded by people older than me and I never did any make-up or edited my face. Cristine is the only person who is influencing me in any way and I'm really proud of it. Sadly, she isn't too popular in here, I think. I live in Poland and almost every teen is doing really visible make-up. They can point out every single bad thing about my face. Make fun out of me. But yet, I'm still moving forward, facing everyone. Don't get me wrong - I'm a coward. I keep hiding. I don't like people, I don't post photos, unless everyone is telling me that my profile picture is not correct anymore. But I'm being myself, having a tea and books collection, reading about serial killers and writing poems from time to time, and just loving to wear dresses with rose-shaped earrings. I'll be honest - there are many things that I'd change in myself. But yet, I don't want to. I'd lose myself. I'd lose happiness. I'd lose my soul.
Yet, if doing make-up is something that makes you happy - okay. Just remember that beauty is not on the outside, even thoung everyone is judging you based on the cover.

If you want reassurance that you're making the right choices, just look at how all the 90's 'plastic hotties' look today. It's not a good look in the long run. Yeah, I'm quite okay. There were a lot of things happening with my life in the past ten months that made me REALLY insecure and kinda hate myself, my face and pretty much everything in me. But! My boyfriend really helped me to recover, endlessly telling me that I'm "the most beautiful person and the most beautiful woman he has ever came across". Right now, I only wear makeup sometimes - just when I'm meeting someone and feeling like it's the time to do so, and the reason behind that is, I just love that goth-ish, a bit medieval aesthetic since I was at least four. Not full-goth, though. Just a black, rich (not expensive, though) laced dress, earrings in the shape of black roses, a tad of almost white foundation, because being basically a full-time vampire is my hobby, dark lipstick and something with eyes. And that's all the changes, applied the max amount of once per two months, because of the whole Corona thing. My everyday look is still the same - completely clean face and brushed hair, so don't worry :)
I'm still myself, doing what I love - and I love writing, drawing, learning languages... It's just school that is really draining right now, so I don't really have time or mindspace to enjoy these little things.
The only thing that has gotten worse is probably my social anxiety. I mean, I don't really have a problem with interacting with strangers, I overcame that, but it's just the people that I know, who can actually influence my life - they scare me to death, what they might think, when they hear me stuttering or start crying, seemingly out of blue, because is might be my turn to speak soon. They all interpretate these things as wanting attention, while I just REALLY don't need it.
Sorry for rambling. Now, all I want to say is that you're a wonderful person, and 27 (now probably 28) isn't old at all. You're probably beautiful just the way you are. Life is about being happy - why wouldn't you do whatever makes you feel this way and stop caring about things you can't change?
Be glad with who you are. Be happy with yourself. Look at all your positive traits and keep them in mind at all times. If you're struggling with this (which I know many people are) - you care about a random teen on the internet, that's unusual and beautiful!

it's actually pretty sad. I'm 13 and I have a knack for photoshop and my friend asked me to change her picture and to change her body for her instagram and it's sad that even a 13 year old is trying to change the way the look to live up to beauty standards of today's society

I'm honestly so thankful you became one of my role models when I was 16 and seeing how earnest you are compared to many other TH-camrs and beauty gurus. this video actually came out at a time when I was in a really bad place in terms of my own body dysmorphia and this really helps me to go back too when I feel especially weird about how I look.
My ideal relationship would be to do anything like having fun over an app to talking about social phenomena and philosophical ideas

i used an app like snapchat, with filters, but korean version; its called faceU. it drastically changes my face shape, and made my chin smaller, i soon came to realize the photos took with that app, didnt seem like me, instead it made me hate myself, and my body, now i dont use that app anymore, now i love myself. love yourself.
What I love abut this channel is that they have the humour but their is also this reflection and deep insight
My family plays this game where we go onto Instagram and find pictures where like the background curves in showing they photoshopped it. Who ever finds the most pictures wins.

I am a teenage girl and i’m currently working on a paper that shows mental health in teenagers and I’ve found that so many problems are caused by social media, influencers and editing apps that encourage this, it’s really not good

I'm 25 and I use Facetune 😭
*Features I use:*
- teeth whitening (I also use this on the whites of my eyes!)
- patching blemishes
- smoothing skin and under eye bags
- lighting correction
- filters and frames if I'm feeling quirky
- detail (use on eyes and jewelry)
- sometimes will defocus the background
*Features I don't use:*
- Adding makeup
- Reshaping any part of my face or body
- Changing color of eyes/hair/etc
There are also a few other editing apps that are fun to use and have some cool editing features like collages, overlaying photos, photo effects, cooler frames/filters, etc.

Basic photo edits like these make my shitty phone photos in poor lighting look like they would if I took a selfie with my mom's Nikon. Removing blemishes and simple photo corrections don't make me "not look like [myself]", but it's interesting that you think that.
