I'm not super knowledgeable about Bungou Stray Dogs, but I know the famous poet Nakahara Chuuya, is the archetype for the anime character. He has a poem called 汚れちまった悲しみに(yogorechimatta kanashimi ni), "for the sullied sorrow" very roughly, 汚れ could definitely be construed as "dirty" in an approx translation. So it makes sense as a reference to a poem. Please correct me BSD fans!

Everybody is saying that the "dirty sorrow" is a translation for Chuuya's ability, but the real Nakahara Chūya (Japanese poet) had a poem called "For The Tainted Sorrow." This poem was also referenced in the Bungou Stray Dogs WAN preschool episode! "No, let's read **for the tainted sorrow!!**" This may not be correct but this is what I got!
