He has a poem called 汚れちまった悲しみに(yogorechimatta kanashimi ni), "for the sullied sorrow" very roughly, 汚れ could definitely be construed as "dirty" in an approx translation. So it makes sense as a reference to a poem. Please correct me BSD fans!
