    What a terrific video explaining how reasonable this system is to install. A game changer, even though I love hand watering sometimes. Jungleman Fozzy and Sweet Pea Olive were making sure everything was being done correctly without getting in the way 🤣😂. I love how the Foz plopped down at your feet so that you could provide shade😉. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a 7ft watering head nearby so that you could pop under periodically to cool down as well😜? I’ve seen misting tubing sold online which is set along the eaves to cool chickens and animals that would work well for humans. It was hilarious watching cows close their eyes and turn their faces towards the mist and then lying underneath for a cooling sleep 🐮! Have a most beautiful week at the most amazing place to be❣

    Hi Chad!
    (My first two attempts at this comment probably got removed since it had a link in it, otherwise sorry for spamming!)
    Just a quick tip for equalizing pressure throughout your system. At 17:00 I spotted you have ‘dead ends’ in your main water line. If you loop these ends back into the main line by connecting them together, you create what is called a ring line or a closed loop. This redirects all water unto itself, thus giving equal pressure no matter how far away from the spigot.
    I’ve worked a lot with these systems in greenwalls and micro farming and it was a real game changer for me. It needs a bit more hose, but makes up in durability of parts and probably also water usage.
    Felt as my way of giving back for all your inspiring content!
    Best regards from the Netherlands, Erik

When I turned the water on the line popped right off the Barb end. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. I still have more learning to do. I like your presentation very detailed without being overly verbose 🤓

    Chad… greetings from warm Southern California. I have over 500’ of half-inch hose on my system and there are a couple of lessons learned I’d like to share. The variable drippers have a limit. What is your water-flow limit? Get a five gallon bucket and see how long it takes to fill up. With a black Sharpie, divide the five gallon bucket into five equal parts (representing one gallon levels). Turn on the water hose and with a stop watch, clock how long it takes to fill up your bucket. If your bucket fills in 15 seconds, your maximum flow is 5 gallons/0.25min or 20 gallons per minute (or 1,200 gallons per hour (GPH), etc. now for the drippers let’s say you have two revolutions of adjustment to work with. Divide the adjustment into 90° arcs. Test the flow in a five gallon bucket for each 90° adjustment. Make a chart: 1st 90° adjustment (opened from complete shutoff), let’s say it fills one gallon in 5 minutes or 12 gallons/hour (12 GPH). Pro-rate your system to allow for at least 33-50% redundancy (future expansion). Calibrate one dripping using the 90° arc reference and adjust system so all your drippers do not use more than 50-75% of your maximum flow. If your maximum water flow is 1,200 GPH, use a maximum 900 GPH. If you have 100 drippers, then adjust each dropper to no more than 9 GPH or about 0.15 GPM per dripper. After you figure how many times you should water per day (if you have great drainage), you will need to water more often and with less water for each watering. Hot days over 30°C maybe water everyday. Days with 20-29°C, water every two days, 10-19°C every three days? Also at the ends of the half-inch hose you will need to manually drain the water before the freezing season so your drip system doesn’t explode from the freeze. Hope you learn from my lessons learned. Love ❤ your channel!

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That sounds all very mathy 😉 you must have loads of experience to figure all that out eh, 500’ is a lot I ordered 400’ to start I wonder how far that’ll get me. We do have lots of pressure though at the hydrant water gushes out but I’ve never calculated the flow limit. I don’t think the average joe would be doing all those calcs though, right. Luckily for us our property is at a slight incline so I had hoped once I disconnect the main lines they’ll just drain by gravity. What are your thoughts on that? Have you noticed water stays in the lines? Appreciate the info though, it’s a great to know. I’ll do a flow test like that one day as it would be interesting to know. Cheers 🍻

    • @timothymaimone8611
      @timothymaimone8611 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Chad… my water pressure is about 100psi and with pressure compensators, I still have lots of expansion room for more drippers. The reason for measuring the output of my variable drippers was so I could control my overall water usage. The nice thing about drip irrigation systems is that if you don’t have the water pressure, you can always increase the watering time. On my 500’ drip system, I attached a 50’ 3/4” watering hose to buffer the water pressure issue. Enjoying your videos as they are very relaxing to watch. Regarding your sawmill cooling hose mishap, m surprised the manufacturer doesn’t use silicone rubber cooling hoses, yes more money, but won’t melt from the saw mill heat sunk.
