I love chili verde, so I was happy to see a version for home dehydrating for backpacking or canoe trips. Using a low-fat meat like ground turkey and adding the refried beans for smoothness are great ideas! Ever try some kind of white beans in your recipe? And I was going to ask about adding rice to increase carbs & volume, but you solved that with the spinach risotto! Great recipe! Thanks!
When you rehydrate the portions do you just add hot water to the chili in the freezer bag and allow it to soak for 10 minutes or so,or simmer in a pot?
Just enough to cover + a little extra. I normally boil 2 cups of water, but don’t use it all. Also depends how you will use it - if I’m going to make a burrito I’ll use less water.
Great video! I’ll be on a part of the AZT in a couple weeks! After dehydrating do you store in the freezer or just at room temp? And how long do you think a dehydrated meat based meal will stay good? Thanks!
👍😎👍 nice video
Thanks!

I have other recipes I use white beans in...future video!

I use freezer bags and rehydrate in there with no boiling. You need some kind of cozy to prevent heat loss.
If you were to quarter up the chili batch how much water would you use to rehydrate each portion?

I always keep dehydrated meals in the freezer, and they are still good after a year.
