ARRTX COLORED PENCILS | MY THOUGHTS! | Adult colouring

  • Hi guys!
    I am excited to be able to share this video with you all - the Arrtx 126 colored pencils. I know, I am late to the game. But from someone who uses and loves only a couple of sets of artist quality pencils, will these budget pencils get a vote from me??
    I am putting them to the test in our most popular adult colouring books to see how I really feel about them. I want to be able to use them in most of my books! Is it possible?
    I am very loyal to my regular Albrecht Dürer pencils, so let’s see if these pencils find a place in my….heart! Lol.
    I enjoyed playing with these pencils and sharing this video with you and I hope you enjoy watching it!
    Happy colouring!

    Thank You for this review. My first pencil love was prismacolour pencils and I still love them. It is so hard to find replacements for them in Europe so I am using them up and use other pencils instead. I also have coloured a lot with polychromos pencils and I actually used them together a lot. I bought these arrtx pencils to find something similar to my first love. But unfortunately these are not prismacolours and my 5 year old uses them now sometimes. I am currently because of You chancing my polychromos pencils to A. Dürers. I would love to follow your tutorial with arrtx pencils because I have them but I like that You make Your colour alongs with A. Dürers and use somewhat same materials all the time. I find that people buy stuff to buy stuff and this was the reason I liked Your channel at the beginning. Please dont feel the pressure to do exactly the same what any other channel does. For me Chris Cheng is the queen of prismacolor pencils and You are the queen of A. Dürers.

    I recently discovered that pairing these with the Holbein White pencil gives off that Prismacolor opacity that covers right over black lines. I tried this on a Kameliya Angelkova book, and it's amazing how many layers I can get on paper that doesn't have much tooth.
    These are such a perfect blend of firm and creamy.
    I don't know why, but when I look at the pencils themselves, it feels like there's such a gap in the color selection, but when I see them swatched the set looks and feels more complete.

      Thanks for sharing! I was actually surprised how many layers I can get down too! It has been fun playing with these pencils…there is a bit of room for adding some colours for sure! You never know, they may come out with a larger set! 🤗💗

    Thank you for the comprehensive review. The Arrtx are my favourite softer pencil, I find prismacolors a bit too soft for intricate details. It’s a shame they are not going to be available open stock but at least they seem to be on offer on Amazon fairly regularly.

    I really appreciated this review. I have this set and it was winter when I got them. So I went ahead and did a couple of pages in Wild Winter. I do like using both soft and hard pencils. So I was not bothered by the softness . The colors really shone. They aren't Prismas, that I like working with very much. There is a more natural pallette along with the really bright shades. These colors complement each other well. Particularly in nature pictures. Love your channel and your work.

      Thank you so much for your lovely comment, glad you appreciated the review. I think the pencils are great….I am someone who has been using Faber Castell for my entire colouring journey so far, so I am used to the good quality and to be honest I think these worked great. So it’s good to see others who think the work well 🤗💗

    Thank you for this great review! 🙂💕
    I had bought these before I bought Polys, and a few Albrecht Dürers. I loved the colors and the softness of the Arrtx.
    What I do have to say is, that I sent them back after a week. Some colors kept breaking off when I sharpened them. (Dahle 133 etc) After I had colored 2,3 small motifs with them, about 6 pencils were only very small. I know 3 other people who love these pencils, but had the same problem again and again. (from different countries) Especially if you color a lot with them (they are maybe the only pencils you have), the colors are used up pretty quickly. They cost 70 euros here, and that's a lot I think. I would honestly always advise getting a set, where you can buy the pencils individually.
    If I could buy the arrtx individually, I would buy a set immediately, as an addon to my polys and durers.

      @shelscolouringjourney  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for watching! It’s a shame you got so much breakage…I have been ok with the electric sharpener so far. I should definitely check with my Dahl 133.
      I did ask Arrtx if they would ever consider stock pencils, but sadly they said it would not make financial sense for this product. 🤗

    These are my absolute favorite budget pencils. I have some of the higher priced brands like FC Polychromos, prismacolor, and pablos but i find myself using these as much or more than the others especially on Amazon paper. I hate that they are not open stock but i keep an eye on them and if there is a really good sale I buy them. I have 2 back ups right now 😬 Thanks for the review 😊

    Thanks for reviewing these pencils, however I am not a lover of them at all. I bought them a while back and I think I got a bad set, lots of mine have broken leads as I used them and won't sharpen very well and also I don't find they blend well together either. And I've found lots of the colours don't show up all that well on the page, even after many layers. TFS

    Coloring with Alena also mentions these pencils a lot. I am tempted to try them but have so far declined as there is no open stock option. I don't want to have to buy a whole new set when one pencil runs out.

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This I fully agree with! I usually buy pencils with open stock options, because I hate the idea of not being able to stock up single pencils. I did speak to Arrtx to see if this will ever be an option - they said no. It is not financially viable for them for this product of theirs. 🤗

    I have these pencils and love them but I also did not like the packaging (at first) so I put my pencils in a case. I did find however that the box is very useful. When I am working on a project and I have the pencils out but have not finished the page I put the pencils in the box and set aside so that when I go back to the page they are available and I don't have to write down the colors I was using and I don't have to pull them back out of the case.

    I bought the 72 set for my granddaughter when they first came out because I thought the box was cute and had heard the pencils were good. Then she got them age 8 and I was coloring with her one day and was like wow these are not bad at all….better than Castle Arts or other cheap pencils. Then they came out with this set and bought it for my artist daughter who is 20 and she uses them but acrylic is her medium but she just doodles and draws for fun with these. I have the Albrecht Durers, FC Polys, Prismas which I hate (too mushy) for my heavy hand, Derwent Inktense, and Derwent Artists set in the nice wooden box so I don’t need these but wouldn’t mind a set to have for my playing around not wanting to use my nice pencils. I have not seen one of granddaughters pencils break that might have been a bad pencil in your set.

      Wonderful to hear that despite having such a beautiful range of pencils in your collection you think these pencils are good! Says a lot about them….I have been enjoying playing with them for sure. I can now see I would not enjoy the Prismas as I think I would find them to soft for my style of colouring 🤗💗

    I got caught up in the arrtx frenzy too and got the first blue box of 72….then shortly after the green box of 126.
    I don’t really reach for them so much anymore. I wish I could say why but the original excitement is gone.
    I recently discovered another box of 72, a white box which unfolds to open. it’s about €10 cheaper than the blue box and I guess they were made specifically to fill a gap because they give the feel of Stabilo originals and other midrange pencils. Pigmentation is good, lead is firm and strong, they are well made. I like firmer pencils, I’m not a prismacolor fan.
    I feel I have more control over firmer pencils. Plus they last longer.

      Interesting to hear, thanks for sharing! It does tend to happen…..when the craze is new, everyone jumps on the band wagon and tends to enjoy the product and later the hype tends to fizzle out. There was a huge hype about black widow pencils at one point - I got sucked into that hype - my first and last time getting sucked in haha 😂💗
