First I thought my god what's that kind of behavior of this woman at the beginning of the video, but then I slowly realized the potential. Thank's so much!
After retiring from playing professionally in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra as 2nd violinist for 18 years,i now teach full time and love your videos.Thank you Zlata!
Zlata, you are great! Thanks a lot. I'm going to try it the first thing in the afternoon. Still struggling to get a good sound. Sometimes it happens, some other not. I'll have to work harder, I guess. These exercises will definitely help. Thanks again.
Love it - great exercises and you make it very fun. Your exercises have really helped my playing. I love watching your seamless transitions between the up and down bows with those long bow strokes. I'd love to be able to keep a smooth even tone and volume like that!
Thanks for this great video! Such fun and so very helpful like all of your YT videos. Every best wish to you and your family - I reckon you have about seven weeks to go!
That warmup is so amazing! 🔥 I was wondering if you have a warmup for the left hand as well? Always feeling like it needs a good warmup as well. Greetings 🥰
The intro and ending were very funny. Thank you for the video. As a beginner I found very difficult to grab the bow. The fingers have a mind of its own. They listen to nothing.
Mainly embrace the neck of the violin with your hand. Mostly when people think their pinky is too short (mine is short too), it's more a matter of changing your hand position. I might shoot an extra video on that.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to visit my family in Czech due to Covid. They are now the country in Europe with most contaminations and several of my family members already have Covid, so I hope everyone will be healthy soon and we will be able to travel somewhere next year. Perhaps we'll see Prague...
Thanks Mrs Sheridan Bowing is quite difficult Sometimes I play very quietly so not to bother my husband. Sometimes also staccato and don’t hold the whole notes How long does it take to get that beautiful sound
How long it takes depends on how much you practice, the quality of your practice and in what way your teacher guides the process :). I can't give a term as it varies greatly per student.
Thanks I’m going to try& find a violin teacher during the lock down just to hear Still I think scratchy The notes are fine for I be been playing and reading since 1975 Did my warmups this morning Thanks( quiet practice) Can you review the scales.. just learned them on the piano but for some reason seeing the piano keys helps me remember the sharps how funny is that - I’ll have to write them down on an index card

Here's a video that may help with this: violinlounge.com/how-to-prevent-your-pinky-from-slipping-off-the-bow/ The more you do these exercises, the better the strength and coordination in your pinky and the better it will stay on it's place.
I have the same problem, more so in winter, and it makes it very difficult to do vibrato. I found my own workaround, unconventional and probably frowned upon by teachers, but I don't care as it has worked wonders for me, helped with vibrato and effectively saved vibrato for me. I put a little of powered rosin on my finger tips and then run the finger tips on the the string. It leaves coating of rosin on the strings and on your fingers. If you put too much on it will be sticky, so just experiment with it. (I have a another block rosin for this purpose and just scrape a bit off when I need it). This may or may not help you, but if its stopping you from progressing or enjoying it you have to try anything that may work.
Try hand cream! (not too much) And of course doing this warm up and getting more stability and balance in the contact points of the bow hold will also help.
The best BOW HAND WARM UP I've ever seen.
Yay, you're welcome!

Would you modify any of your bowing instructions for a violist? (I play a 5-string viola (with high E..)

Helpful video. Yay😎 I have a very short left pinky and playing 4th finger is difficult. Any helpful advice? Thank you. William
I think you're supposed to rotate your arm. Like swing the elbow to get your whole hand up and over the frets. I can't explain what I mean. 😥

Hello zalta how are you
What are your worst fears about violin playing
Stage fright!
@@violinlounge
Me too that's the reason I never play anything in front of anyone . That's the reason I blured my video on TH-cam
How many repeats do you suggest for each exercise?
I'd say 5 to 9.
@@violinlounge Thank you for your prompt reply.
