  • Suddenly, the world changed.
We now spend more time inside than out in order to survive the invisible storm sweeping around the planet. For many of us, windows have become our only portals to the great beyond.
Yet windows have always been gateways for our imaginations. We look outwards, then turn inwards to dream. We are disciples of T. E. Lawrence, his ‘dreamers of the day’ - be that from the inside of a remote cabin, within the confines of a high-rise, or the interior of a railway carriage.
Time by windows is time well spent.
The outdoors is still there waiting for us, albeit with retreating glaciers, shrinking ice caps, and vanishing species. Human impacts have now been felt on every square mile of the Earth, above and now beneath the waves. We have ventured into the habitats of every living thing.
The global hitch-hiker currently sweeping around the planet didn’t come to us. We went to it. And then brought it home.
As a community that ventures to faraway locations, now - more than ever - is the time to tread carefully.
