Something in the fuel system is gummed up and it is starving for fuel at certain times. More then likely that track is coming apart. Your clue is the missing pieces on side of the track and the fact that the machine is getting older. Also sitting outside with the track on the ground long term is never a good idea. Merry Christmas everyone!
☃⛄❄🎄
I’d bet you have a stud ripping out, hopefully no hole in a heat exchanger. Put a new seat cover and track on it and go through bearings and shocks, that’s a sweet sled.
I hope you do an entire series of fixing and making the zr new again. Love that sled.
You can see a chunk of track flopping around in the right boggie wheel when you where looking for a issue
I am glad to see you riding the ZR 800. I will look forward to watching videos of you giving the Arctic Cat some love.
She needs all the love. I think she was rode hard and put up wet a few days in her life. Lol
I would have to guess its one of the drive shaft bearings exploded, more than likely the clutch side goes first, and now the drive cog contacts the suspension rail making the clunk-clunk noise
Agreed.
Same noise and the same thing happened to me on my zr500.
Its great seeing a video finally uploaded Jeremy, dang this 1-5 videos a year is making some of us go crazy. Keep them coming. Is the steering a little wonky 5:06 or have i just not been on a sled in a long time?
Glad too se u videos again. Here in sweden is. Minus 20 and 40 cm snow. Just before christmas now. Have good weekend
Love seeing more sled videos, Im SOOO hype for sled season in canada. IM GETTIN MY FIRST SLED!!!!
Follow up
I GOT MY SLED!!!
@@daniel_xxdannyxx7344 Nice. What did you get?
God I love the sleds of this era! I run a Polaris 650 RXL. It's a '91, but in pretty much mint condition. That first run of the year when it's WOT time really sets your stomach back! I'd never sell my RXL, but I really wanna get a ZRT of this era. Give er hell!😊
Here we go!!!
...nice.
we're still duel sporting down here in the south side of the state.
That's awesome! Just over the mountain from me there is no snow.
Jeremy amazing video glad you kept the Arctic zr 800 it's my fav sled please more vids of the arctic cat
I hope to! Thanks for watching!
Love the sled content! Keep it coming dude!
Will do! At least every weekend this winter! :) Thanks for watching!
Good to see you back making snowmobile videos happy I am
Glad to hear that! I appreciate you watching! I'll be posting at least every weekend this winter!
Sounds like a jack shaft bearing or lower drive bearing
Sleds are a bunch of fun......when they run. Many nights after work I found myself walking home to fetch a truck, tractor, friend, or another sled to drag my busted one out of the woods. Part of the adventure I guess
I'd say the clicking is the track for sure, you just didn't look hard enough
I had a similar issue with the engine to my buddy's ZL 800 EFI, ended up being the main fuel line what was on it was some regular tygon fuel line and it couldn't take the EFI pressure. Replaced that with some good thick stuff and she was good to go
Could be jackshaft. Had a similar noise and clunk come from my moms Polaris Indy. Gotta grease those things before they wear like that
The black mxz 700 you had was the most reliable be nice to bring that back 👍
Nice to see some snow, where I’m at nothing
I just bought a 98 zr 600 EFI, it had an awful bogging issue, so I adjusted the tps and replaced the injectors and now it’s got tons of power, the machines got only 1400 miles!
Them had stator problems you may need new stator
@@Stuckin330 ya I remember reading about that, I got it going good and traded it for a 2011 crossfire 800 HO sno pro!
Jeremy, check the chain case. I still have my 1999 ZR700. I had a similar problem. I thought it was my track. Not the track. Then like you i thought it was the belt. I switched belts and the problem was still there. It was a bolt that came loose and sometimes it thumped then sometimes it didn't. I rebuilt the chaincase internals and problem solved.
had my trihub bogey wheel baring completely come loose from the wheel last season first thing that came to mind. 😮
Keep up the good work but I was wondering where you got your side grips from on your old mxz because I am looking for some
Have had this happen with 2 sleds. The thudding is a sign of your driveshaft bearing going out it loosing power. T high speed as well. If ignored to long you’ll find your drive shaft sitting in the bottom of your skud
When mine made that noise it was the bearing going out on the secondary clutch drive shaft and took out the drive cable for the Speedo.
Been following for years man. These are my favorite winter videos! #ridemore
Congrats on 88k🎉
Disconnect the tss at the handlebars. If that fixes it, you need a new switch. Definitely needs the track changed as well before it rips n puts a hole in the front heat exchanger with a stud
It’s the track. When you got off and moved the sled forwards while looking at the track, I saw a big flap on the right side of the track.
From my personal experience with my 02 doo 800 check the drive lugs on the track my sled made the same noise I had all of the center drive lugs stripped off my track
Could be track tension. Track expansion under high speed rubbing on tunnel protectors? Or chunk of track flapping on tunnel
Always fails to dissapoint! Thanks jeremy for the great content
Hey love the vids keep up the good work but for the longest time I’ve wanted side angled grips for my legend like the ones you have on your old mxz do you by chance remember we’re you got them from
It isn't to hard to figure out why things don't run right. When they are left outside.
Exactly. It’s not the brand it’s how it’s taken care of. I don’t think anyone would say a Yamaha 340 or 440 Exciter or Enticer is a bad sled, great engine durability. But leave it outside and let the mouse family move into the seat and air box, let all the seals dry rot and bearings rust up, the gas turn to syrup, yep she’s a pile now.
@@glenmallory9982 I store my sleds outside in the off season. (Have no indoor storage or garage.) But they are under covers with the tracks and skis up off the ground. I also go out every couple weeks and pull the covers off and let them air out. Don't want moisture to build up under those covers. I also make them as mouse resistant as possible. (peppermint oil, dryer sheets, etc.) Have had no rodent issues.
It is all in how they are stored. Just leave it sitting in the side yard on the ground and uncovered and there are sure to be issues.
I like your new sled shed!
Hope it all works out! Hey, what part of Maine did you all come up too? I'm in central Maine and was curious on what area you were in.
Hey Jeremy did you ever find out what those random clutches were for when ya came down for the raider parts? Also did end up keeping any of those? We bit rough on the backs lol
if you wanna help keep the mice down, put bounce dryer sheet under the hood, basically anywhere mice could make a nest. Then to keep them out of the pipe just plug the exhaust with some steel wool. been doing it for years and highly recommend it! never has failed me once.
Looks like you have a nice collection of sleds. How many do you have? And what are they great video as always
At 6:51 there's a big chunk of the track flapping round the rear idler wheel.
Almost sounds like one of the studs ripped out and tore some track with it and is knocking on the tunnel, I had that happen to my 91 prowler 440
What happened to the mxz 583 you had?
What’s that pop up shelter? I need one like that for my sleds
Drive shaft bearings. My cat lost a drive shaft bearing and the drive cog was crooked causing the clicking
Hey Jeremy I have some kitty cats too how do you like the ZR when it is running right
Sounds like a drive bearing
The real problem is that it’s an arctic scrap lol
Glad you’re back in the groove with videos!
You should buy some sleds that have a cult following, for example the ski doo elans. You would get a ton of views as no ones doing content for them
I love that idea. I've been on the lookout for a nice old sled like that to restore. Hard to find!
Powermodz was doing videos for a while, looks like they may be back
@@JeremyRhydesI have like 10 skidoo tnts and many more elans
Or a Yamaha Bravo
Don’t forget about the tundras, so many people love those sleds
Love that mzx brother
With that many studs and you hear the track floppin around your lucky, you didn't rip a heat exchanger. That's the one reason why I don't run studs in my sleds.
U should totally get ur og mxz 700 going again I'm sure a bunch of people r missing it
Your track is ratcheting because the bearing on the left side with the speedometer cable is going bad
Agreed
VT needs moar snow ❄️
Amen.
Miss the snowmobile camping videos.
yayy he posted!!!!!!!
Yes sir! At least every weekend this winter!
Good day when you post man
Thank you, sir! I appreciate you watching!
yessir the season is upon us!
Yeah buddy!
It’s your front drive bearings there’s one on the secondary clutch side on the driveshaft witch is the one that probley blew and there’s one in the chain case guaranteed 100% that’s your problem . May as well do them all there cheap and may aswell change your track too well you have it off
any snowmobile video is a good video
It’s a loose stud you probably ruined the heat exchanger common thing that happens you have to stop immediately or you just ran it out of antifreeze and blow the motor. You can get the exchanger welded but its a lot of work. Has to clean to weld it its aluminum. My buddy welded his zr you have to check the studs every ride good luck.
Sounds like a ripped out stud to me
Bro I had a 2002 ski doo mxz x 800 that was an ex race sled sold it miss it definitely miss the ski doo called it the ol mean 800 had a lot done to it miss riding
So now we need to know...what was wrong with it? Track? Belt? Flux Capacitor not fluxing?
What do you think is wrong with this ol' ditch pickle?? Also, did you spot a sasquatch in this video? 😯
I would almost lay money on the track drive shaft bearings.remove the speedo drive cover, and you will probably find your issue.
It's 100% the track coming apart. The tempo is such that every time it makes a revolution you're hearing and feeling the tick under the seat. Going slow you don't feel/hear it because there isn't enough centrifugal force to slap it against the tunnel. If it were belt, the tempo would be 100s even 1000s of rpms, not one tick per second. The notch missing out of the edge you showed at the beginning would be a good starting point to investigate. As far as the bog, it's starving for fuel. Being efi, check your fuel filter if there is one and fuel pick up screen in the tank.
Would also be willing to bet something’s going on with either the smart valves in the tank, power valves, or clutching, that sled isn’t pulling nearly enough rpm and sounds down on power
Rotate slow and you will probably find a stud that is ripped out on 3 sides flopping around hitting your heat exchanger. Had it happen to my mxz800. If that’s not it like others have said drive axle bearings. Loosen track tip it on its side grab hold the main drive axle and wiggle.
It's your track...a stud is ripped with one stud or more hitting...tip it on its side and roll the track by hand and find it. My guess is you have already eaten into the fins of the front heat exchanger.
Id say its your jack shaft buddy. Theres two, one going in your chain case and one coming out that your cogs are on. One of the bearings let go. Going to have drop the track and open the chain case to fix it. Time consuming but not the end of the world if you fix it right away.
Out rippin
Do love a good Ditch Pickle.
A pickle it certainly is.
I would take the carbs and fuel pump apart and investigate. The track could have a bad bogie wheel from sitting outside which is making the track shake more
Did you ever solve the issue, or find out what the problem was? Love the ZR and car sleds of that era
wow look at that the cat fires right up
Wow why do you have so much snow😅😅😅
Good man
It’s a arctic crap always has problems Jeremy do a vid on the og mxz700 u should get a 850 summit
Check all those studs easy way to loose a heat exchanger
I don't know where the heat exchanger is but if the track blows apart it could puncture the heat exchanger and blow the engine nothing big
I always seem to blow the belt on my MXZ 800 after the first couple rips of the season.... it must be the climate, cuz they get brittle and snap every year!
No it's a skidoo, it's normal
@@MidnightPolaris800 probably, lol
The belt should not be left on the clutches during seasonal storage and your clutches may not be aligned. Get a simple but very accurate straight edge and check that the clutches are in perfect alignment. If not this will prematurely wear your belt or eat them up quickly depending on how misaligned they are.
Pro tip clean air intake sensor.
Torn track stud hitting under the tunnel
Probably a little late in this..but likely your studs are hitting your heat exchanger as they are pulling out tearing it opened..
Nice buddy
Thanks!
No wonder this guy's stuff never runs
Float valves are sticky, also drive cogs clicking!?!?
Maybe!
It's efi
Triple cat is what ya need
I agree!
Gotta run that crappy gas through, that's been sitting in those carbs for too long, then she'll run fine 👍
I seen it the second time u stopped bro track is done
Do a compression test
Compression is good in both cylinders.
Probobly a pulled stud. Hanging on by a flap of track and slapping against your tunnel.
Do you think this thing is faster than an f7?
Depends on the year of the f7
That thing just stuck a ring..
It's barely running.
Buy my summit off my jeremy!! It’s a 13 summit x, runs great. looks ugly because it’s needs a nose cone. motor runs great, track is mint minus half of one lug
i’m in maine
How much
Its probably a stud loose
At 6:51 you can see it
Yeaaaaa buddy got to love the first ride of the year
Normally I do.....lol
She needs a new track. Probably needs drive bearings too.
Sell it, to meee! No, seriously i will buy it. Im in Vermont as well.
Throw me an offer! Lol Never sold a sled through TH-cam. That would be funny. We can film it if you want.
I dont mean to insult you with an offer, so no offense. $400
Man i went iut on like a 3 and a half mile ride with my mxz 440 right after i got it rjnning made it all the way to where i was ganna turn around and then it started bogging real bad wouldent go past 4k rpm then if fully died turns out the fuel pump went bad stoped pumping and i cleaned the right carb when i first got it caie the right side wasent running not the left card is still dirty so ive got some work to do o and the pull cord broke
Can you give me a running snowmobile
fuel pump probly needs a new diaphragm
I think the fuel pump is okay.
arctic choke
Just keep riding it. It'll get better. Not.
why do u americans have moree snow than us canadians
