LoL. It is a scripted sequence where you die no matter what. It is the most important part of the story. Even on veteran, you will die but, that does not mean the rest of the story is unplayable.
One of the most well done intros I've seen in a game. This truly sets up the premise of the world the player is going to be set in. It's also good the people in the car never actually talk to you, so you can continue to observe whats going on and take in the violent events that you're stuck in the middle of.
It's crazy to me that there were very few games that depicted the Iraq War around 2007. Most games were still obsessed with WWII. That's why Modern Warfare spoke to early 2000's youth.

The themes of the story are laid out right there, democracy in the backseat, terrorists driving and russians as the copilot telling them where to go. And of course since this story is being told from the pov of the west, we need to feel that initial assault to be justified in all the f'd up sh*t we do in subsequent missions. I think it's legit the best CoD by far (for story mode) and one of the best fps I've played.

You literally fight a part of the US military in MW2. I think they generally did a good job of showing how a populist movement can be coopted by extremists.

Transformers, Call of Duty 4, Iron Man, even The Dark Knight was a dissection of the Bush administration with Joker basically being a terrorist and the cellphone hack Batman uses being an indictment of The Patriot Act. These movies and games really said more about our government than we realized.

Now i hate the company, they spend most of their time makings a multiplayer that sucks and not enough time on the campaigns. Now every game they released their putting it another 50 years into the future and throwing in things like zombies to make the game somewhat decent. I remember the days when captain price would be a role model, and now? you cant even really connected to the characters since they use a whole new set every game. This was once a truly lived an inspired game and now its a joke.

Call of duty 4 aka MW1 main reasons is because these games didn't shy away from showing the true face of war in the campaigns unlike the joke that is call of duty WW2, Ghosts, and Advanced warfare. Advanced warfare was when I just decided to stop call of duty all together and seeing the current ones I'm kind of glad I did. Plus call of duty warzone is just a reskin of PUBG and I might get some flak for saying it but I really don't care.
