    Matthew Knights amazing.
I forgot how crucial the Rogers Daffy Naish and Charles contributions were.

Knights was one of my favorite players growing up as a kid, such a classy, tough player with a beautiful left boot to match

Matthew Knights is a dead set Richmond legend. He was there through the absolute worst of it and was ALWAYS a reliable, steady pair of hands. I’ll always remember the feeling of relief that would wash over the Richmond fans whenever he got the ball in a bad match😆

In the 35 years we were crap, this was the highlight by a mile.

Great memories! I remember us fans waving our jackets above our heads as a "get stuffed" to Sheedy after the Tigers won the game. Sadly this finals win was my only finals experience until this year and now Richmond is playing in the 2017 Grand Final today and I'll be there!!

@J G Soccer is big but our indigenous sport is loved by anyone who comes here, even people from traditional soccer lands,I can not see soccer "taking over" in 2050,after all an AFL club Melbourne,is the oldest club on the planet,I truly believe if Australia was located in Europe, the whole World would be playing AFL right now.🙂

BTW,I was a United fan after I saw United on tv beat Liverpool in an FA cup final in 1977,the first FA Cup final I viewed.
Peace bro, don't know why you spread hate about AFL,Australia is a country that embraces all sports,we even have American Doors played here.
It wouldn't be in Australia's best interests for soccer to be the number 1 code because all our elite players would be poached by the richer European clubs, our country would be a feeder club,Australian Rules is one of the oldest coded leagues on the planet and reaches out to generations of people,it will take a long long long time before that sport is overtaken and if it is,will be a very sad day.

our injuries that year were out of this world. losing maxfield, m gale, wigney for several weeks hurt us too at the pointy end as they lacked fitness.
then came the downfall of our last 20 years.
losing maxfield and northey started a downward spiral that took us years to build.
i was at this game as a 9 year old and nearly cried i was so happy. that roar was out of this world

Don't forget Plugger being taken away from us by the AFL to 'promote the game' in Sydney. The 90s would've been a completely different decade for the Tiges had Lockett been playing for us

How's the roar after naish's 1st goal of the third. We were spoilt having commentators like Bruce and Dennis in the 90's
