    A lot of people saying you're not a real dj if you use the sync button, ha. The audience isn't going to think your music is better if you beat match. Just as long as you play good music that's all that matters

    So I have the Numark MT Pro 3. Wife got it for me after getting into the dj Gear (got a nice mixer, crossover, and 3 amps running XLR wife got this to make setup complete. Issue is all I can do is make noise! I will watch as many videos to make her happy about the purchase. So far I have saw a few, but will take it a few days at a time till I get it. I'll be I.T Pc Tech by day, and Dj Simba at night LMAO

    Can someone give me their opinion on my technique, this is how i usually mix my songs.
    1) while a song is playing at 123 bpm for example and i wanna play one at 125 bpm, I would use the pitch to either increase or decrease the BPM of a song, or change both and meet in the middle.
    2) have a quick listen with the cue button to see if it sounds ok
    3) play the track on the first beat of a new phrase
    4) usually reduce bass on playing track and increase bass on new track so it takes over bass, do the same for mid and treble usually when appropriate
    5) then cross fade or up fade depending on what im doing.
    Does this sound about right or have i developed some weird technique

    • @egdisco
      @egdisco 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      ***** I do exactly that and it works well. I try and move the BPM up of the playing song when you're building up to a drop as it's usually a lot less noticeable. Also, I find bringing the BPM down on the playing track generally sounds a lot worse than going up.

    • @sushilnash
      @sushilnash 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ***** If that's working well for you, you should stick with it. It does seem a bit of an odd technique to me though - why would you mess with the tempo of the 'playing' track rather than adjust the cue'd track to match?

      I pad with DJay app by algoriddim is amazing. You can use the the different features to help you learn to beat mix. You can actually see what a song " looks" like with the wave format and use visuals to see your mix while you train your ears to listen and match two songs. You can get it for the I phone also. I have even hooked into bigger systems and djayed parties with it. It's a lot of fun and a good way to learn if you have nothing else.

    hey ellaskins , i have been watching your videos and i like it a lot but i must give you an advice: Why dont you make your channel look more " professional" ? What i mean is , try to find a corner in your house, paint a wall, buy some photography lights, get a couple or 3 of full hd camera to give you more angles of shooting; film yourself in front of camera and also buy a cheap good condenser mic. I think it would give you such more impact to your channel. Rock on =)

    Yo,
    I'm just now getting into DJing and I'm wondering if buying a DDJ-SR is a good move for an entry level DJ. It's in my price range and it seems complex enough to start with, but I'm not sure if it's better to just spring for a DDJ-SX instead of outgrowing the SR and purchasing it later. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
    Thanks!

    • @sparv1111
      @sparv1111 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Personally, if you are certain that you are going to keep going with DJing, get the SR. I, myself, have a Numark Mixtrack Pro II which is an entry level one, and I kind of regret not saving up some additional money for something as an SR... Otherwise, if you just want to do it real casually, get something like the SB. I wouldn't really recommend the Mixtrack Pro II, since the effects on it are fucking trash... But yeah..
      Hope I helped somewhat at least!

    • @NVversus
      @NVversus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the response, mate. I'll grab the SR and work from there.
      :)

    • @irritablysavvy
      @irritablysavvy 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yohanan Qwaii Go with the SX. You'll outgrow the SR. It has no visual indicator on the jog wheels.

    • @NVversus
      @NVversus 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The visual indicator is definitely a deal breaker. Not to mention the fact that I'd have 2 more tracks to work with and many more features if I purchased the SX. It's just that the SX is currently well beyond my price range and I'm anxious to start sooner than later. I may just have to save up and wait until December.
      Thanks for the heads up, though. I hadn't noticed that before.

    • @irritablysavvy
      @irritablysavvy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yohanan Qwaii If you're just getting started, I would buy a used Mixtrack Pro off eBay and use that until you've saved up for the SX. That way it will gauge your interest in DJing, you can build skill, and then you can turn around and easily sell it on eBay to put the money towards an SX. Best of both worlds.

    • @deondagoat
      @deondagoat 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Let's say a song is 100 BPM. Usually with a trap 100 BPM song means its going to have an intro with no bass kicks. Bring in the next song and use the bass from the other song to keep the crowd moving.

    • @deondagoat

    I am using a ION Discover DJ scratch deck and I am wondering should I chuck it?

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chan yuki I don't think ION Discover is a particularly good piece of learning equipment, i think a good first controller is Denon MC-2000/3000 or Behringer CMD Studio 4A, for example, as learning with either of these you can later just use whatever CD player is already at the club or borrow from a DJ friend.
      But the ION still has the bare minimum to get you going and get the feel for the music, so you probably don't need to throw it away just yet, you can instead just keep going and see how good you get with it, and when you get a better controller, i'm going to bet that you will adjust to the better thing very easily. The Mixvibes software that comes with it is probably quite nice though, i really like Mixvibes Cross recently.

      but it doesnt have sfx

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chan yuki You can always engage effects manually in Mixvibes, you can also map them onto the keys of your computer keyboard. Learn the mapping capabilities of Mixvibes, you can assign keys - on your keyboard, or perhaps a controller button - as modifier keys, which allow you to assign multiple functions per knob or multi-function the jog wheels on your controller. Whatever device you get next, you will probably still find the mapping skill useful.
      Let me tell you though, an effect has NEVER salvaged a bad performance, but so many performances were ruined by misuse of effects. So not having effects can be an initial advantage.

    Where do you buy dj controller like that? And how much does it cost?

    • @DJRussellBrian
      @DJRussellBrian 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can visit my blog where I talk about the best DJ controllers on the market, their differences, & their prices. Paying full price for a setup like this is unnecessary when you can pay monthly payments, zero interest, no credit, good credit (Better plans), & guaranteed low prices. Sounds too good to be true? Well why do you think I made a blog about it? thedjpro.co/equipment/

    I can care less if a DJ uses sync. The only reason why I don't use sync is because I don't know how. I've played with it and it just throws everything out of whack. I consider myself old school. Keep it simple, play to the crowd.

    Hey there I understand the concept of beat matching the tracks in this manner and it works but as soon as I pause the track I've beat matched and que it up at the desired starting point it goes out of tune(sync) again when I hit play. Any help on this?
