Thank you for this video! I've had one of these (they come with a splash guard now) for years, sitting on a shelf, unopened. I finally tried it out today and it's so cool! Thank you again for posting about it all those years ago.

You can add a #Cover with a #Cone on top to allow the #Mist or #Fog to come out and prevent #water from splattering all over the place!

hey mate, can you show what it look like if you turn the mister up side down, facing down, so it wont splash but still mists i guess? Or may do by wrapping it with thin piece of cloth ?...just thinking different ideas...
It wont work if upside down it needs to be 3cm below the water for the disk to work properly any lower or upside down and it just makes a stream of water that you see splashing out with no mist.

Please dont put essential oils in cold mist makers ! it can react with the coating on the disk and ruin it among other things. Warm humidifiers are different and are fine to use essential oils in.
They make some mist makers that say they are safe to do that with.
More ideas for my wife and I's 70s psychedelic or black light/hippy room! 👍
What other ideas do you have? I want to build one too but all I have so far is a lavalamp and a beanbag chair

Can you turn the led off ?
Is it okay if you put half or more of the chord? (Not including the plug)
The entire cord is technically energized with the same voltage as the plug. The cord for this technically should be submersible minus the plug. But with stuff like this I always worry.
It has been several years since you've made this video, so you might not see this comment, but if you do, do you have a link to the $3 unit without the power adaptor? My wife had something similar for a fountain, but the lights don't turn on any more. It still makes mist, but no cool lights.

Are these safe for reptiles water or for fish? I feel a little bit of electric coming from the water. I've heard this isn't electricity, but its painful. Surely animals would feel it even more?
If it is actually electricity coming from the water then I would definitely not recommend it around animals. Or potentially people at all. Doesn't sound safe.
Its the ultrasonic freuqency that you can feel and yeah it does hurt, if you use this in a reptile encolsure just place it in a corner where they dont have access so they cant sit over the disc.
It will help them not get hurt plus stop the mist maker from getting broken, I put mine in a tub of water up on some rocks with mesh over the top to stop anything sitting directly on the mist maker.

+John Ratko I would think Google translate too given the poor Grammer soley, but in this case the spelling errors make me think they use some guy in in China that thinks he is good enough to translate this stuff XD
I've seen some that have splash guards that sit a ways over top of it to catch the droplets, that'd be nice to have for this.

For the steam? Yes. Running it without water may damage it.
