Crichton Castle is one of my most favorite local places to visit, the architecture is beautiful the scenery is awesome and the history is so interesting
Hello cousin! :-) The scaffolding wasn’t there last time I was at Crichton Castle. I wonder if it’s just for stabilisation purposes, or if there is some restoration work going on.
Hello relative, greetings from across the pond in the State's, Florida to be exact. Hoping to visit the homeland one day, decadent of William Crichton esquire of the colony of Savannah in Georgia.
So glorious! One of my (many ;)) favourite castles in Scotland. You live in one of the most astoundingly beautiful countries I've had the pleasure to explore. You can't throw a stone without hitting a castle. :) Thank you sharing your knowledge and spectacular footage...so happy to have discovered your channel.
Hey Scotlanders, great video and very informative! I'm actually looking to make a documentary about this castle as part of my HNC course at Edinburgh College, is there any chance I could organise a filmed interview to talk about some the history of Crichton Castle, I'd love to talk more about what style I'm going for in my documentary if you're willing. Thanks, Max.
@@maxwellhaddow-mendes2703 Hi Max, David here. Just wanted to say I got back to you about two weeks ago, hope the message got through! Occasionally emails from my castlehunter account get caught in oblivion and never arrive, so just wanted to let you know in case that happened. Looking forward to finding out more and getting involved.
Hi Chrise, David here. More than happy to! Anything by Tom Devine would be a good place to start, for instance 'The Scottish Nation' for history from 1700-2000. I really like 'Scotland: The Autobiography' edited by Rosemary Goring which conveys first-hand accounts; 'Scotland' by Michael Lynch is a good all-rounder; 'Scotland's Castles' by Chris Tabrahem zeroes in in castles; Alistair Moffat writes prolifically, with a general history being 'Scotland: A History From Earliest Times'. If you're after anything more specific then just let me know!

@@scotlanders2612 oh great, I haven't seen it but I'll take a look now! 😁
Hi Maxwell, did you make your documentary and if so, where would I be able to see it?
Crichton Castle is only 10km away from the Rosslyn Chapel which features in the Da Vinci Code.
How did it get destroyed?
Would you know if William Crichton is buried in the Collegiate Church near the castle?
Just found this as it’s my surname and looking to take my son thanks 😊
would you be so kind as to share some of your favourite books to learn more about the history of Scotland?
