I've been a Certified Associate since 2017 (remember the original "Qualified Associate"? Haha). So Tableau seems to change the cert process every couple of years. I signed up to take the beta on 10/6 since my current cert expires in Nov. I hope it goes well.
Thanks for posting your initial thoughts. I appreciate getting the comparison between this new cert and the old cert.

Good luck on the exam! Im sure if you’ve passed the Certified Associate in the past then you’ll do fine. The questions were comparable in skill level, some slightly more but in general more of the same.

hey, thanks for the info - very insightful. Just wanted to ask you about a topic you briefly touched upon: Data Prep. To your experience on the actual test:
Are test taker expected to take decisions whether to use blend, union, join (inner, outer etc) and PERFORM that on the data set.
    OR
The question explicitly mentions WHICH one of those - blend, union, join (inner, outer etc) - you need to perform
    OR
Theoretical question on WHAT steps you need to take to perform any of those specific ones?
    Thanks again.

In the questions I was presented, there wasn’t any hands on data prep. The questions were asking which type of join would you use, or what would be the result of a certain type of join.

    Thanks for your opinion.
I want to prepare for Tableau data analyst certification. Can you please guide me regarding practice exam papers, training materials etc ?
    Many thanks in advance.

The Tableau Elearning is actually pretty useful for the materials in this exam. The exam guide also does a good job of outlining the structure of the test: mkt.tableau.com/files/TableauCertifiedDataAnalyst_ExamGuide.pdf

All all Tableau certifications getting expired, to be replaced by the new Data Analyst certification?

The specialist certification is on the Pearson Vue platform now so I haven’t seen anything on that one being replaced, but the direct replacement is the Desktop Associate to Data Analyst. They may release another exam similar to the Desktop Professional but no details or indication of that yet.

How did you save the workbook, different for every task for in book1?

Thanks for the post test thoughts. would you recommend certified desktop associate or the new data analyst certification for someone paying out of pocket and wanting to improve their resume?

I would say both require about the same level of knowledge of Tableau, but I would only use it to supplement hands on experience in a resume. I’m a hiring manager and having taken the Specialist, Associate, and Professional exams, I wouldn’t base a hiring decision solely on having the certification. The process of studying for the exam can be helpful to test yourself though. But it also depends on if the certification is sought after in the market you’re in. It’s not the most helpful answer but that’s how I’ve looked at it in my experience.

@@PutSomePrepinYourStep Excellent answer. Allow me to add: I've been a full-time Tableau freelancer in Germany for almost 4 years. Literally, nobody cared about certificates. What they want is experience. I personally never thought the certificates reflect the real world. However, this changed with the data analyst certificate. For example, formatting and publishing are essential in the real world. And the new certificate reflects this. In short, I feel the data analyst certificate is a must.

Is the Beta mention appearing on the certificate ? (this may make a reason HRs can consider the certificate not serious)
