- Had the opportunity to try the early prototype of Erica Synths' Bullfrog Drums.
This is going to be a top pick for drum machines once it's out. It's a sample-based drum machine with seven tracks, a simple interface, and an easy-to-use sequencer. Not much info is available yet, but watch for the official release.

Yes, it is. It's a nice size, and all the buttons and knobs feel sturdy and tactile.

Does this sound like an instant classic choice or is that my wishful thinking tricking me? I feel strong 80s vibes from the sounds in this demo, at least. In a nice way.

The buttons were very good and responsive. Erica Synths have been useing these kind of buttons on their product for some time now.
is there a way to get "Note repeat" MPC or "Step jump" volca type
How many Patterns? lets hope 999! (that is the top level of organization? no "projects"?) is there SD card
I think it will be heavily suggest to sample shorts thst van emmidiatly used in a drum sequence no menus just instant 909 style sequencing with anytging you can use as percussion

So if this is sample based .. wheres the mojo at? VCAs /VCFs? Multisamples /round robin Pitc in hz? Aliasing algos? I mean what's the sales pitch we have great samplers nowadays and great sounding hybirds drumlog, aplabase..🤨
don't worry, they have other drum machines that'll do all that and also some fantastic eurorack modules... the bullfrog series is aimed at education
Sounds pretty desirable to me. I mean, it’s digital, but as far as I can tell has an interesting character going on. Erica rarely disappoints.
I like the buttons it better sample and mangle I see the rec button on it hope that’s for sampling and it better be under 300
It will have sampling and some mangling functions, but under 300 is unrealistic.

They do have the Sample Drum eurorack module.

Bullfrog Synth is US $600+, I don't see this gaining traction for education and underfunded schools unless it can compete with a $99 Arturia Beatstep and a cheap software drum sequencer (on phone/tablet/PC/Mac).
So what is this offering us as a new device????

These sounds are not up to being used in a professional production. Perhaps the box can do better. But if not then I'd be asking what the creators were thinking.
This was one of the kits loaded from the machine. There are plenty to choose from and you can add your own.
Define "professional production". Chances are what you consider "professional" has me very disappointed as a listener.

This doesn't even sound like a proper bullfrog. Me disappoint!
I played with bullfrog at Superbooth and it was terrible. Not fun at all. The synth has normalized routings which are not diagrammed on the device so you’d only know about them if someone tells you or presumably if you read the manual. That makes it terrible as an educational tool lol. They didn’t think it out well at all. The DATO DUO and.d DRUM on the other devices for people “aged 3 to 99” are an absolute blast. They are fun and sound great. I don’t know what Erica was thinking with these Bullfrog products. Great idea; terrible execution.

Thanks! I forgot to check the back. Erica Synths booth was always so crowded, Im glad that I managed to get this video at all. Hopefully there will be some more official release note on this in the near future.
