In the last two weeks I have seen videos of 4-5 women falling while trying to do kipping pullups and very nearly breaking their necks. I never realized pullups could be so dangerous so congrats to Crossfit for once again subverting my expectations.
One of the reasons why crossfit is so popular among women. Because they just simply lack strength most of the time. They're allowed to "cheat" all the reps in crossfit. So with bad form and high risk of injuries, it looks like you're performing sets and did a workout.
When I was 10 years old, I was able to jump really high in the air 5 to 10 feet. It was an amazing feat of strength... when I jumped off the swing set using my momentum
@@KasKade7 Well, I mean, it IS a workout. Highly dangerous and not the most effective, but effective enough that a lot of female crossfitters are pretty damn fit and attractive before the inevitable injuries pile up. The local amateurs anyway, the juiced professionals look like men. I think the success has more to do with the crossfit culture of going hard more than the workouts themselves. Most women are just very timid when it comes to lifting or avoid it altogether in favor of cardio.
@@plmn93 True, agree with most of what you said. But I still think the entry level is very low in crossfit compared to calistenics or weightlifting. This is what sells it too. That first type of accident is what prompted the "standard" dimensions of a 45 lb plate (and all standard plates). The outside diameter is 450mm, and when resting on the floor, it leaves about 8 3/4" clearance between the bar and floor. Original developers figured that was enough room to squeeze an average human head through if you've been pinned to the floor. That's what I read, anyway....
Great to see you focusing on CrossFit as their high rep/low weight approach is impossible to train at gradually increasing weight increments, and their avoidance of actually TEACHING the barbell lifts (this is hard!) makes it so damn dangerous. This is why I'm just blown away that despite having a better safety record than GARDENING OUTSIDE, lifting heavy weights for low reps (such as Starting Strength) is what everyone's afraid will break your back, and CrossFit gets praised as the safe, logical, physically fit approach 😅.
I could see strongman bring pretty high on the injury scale but nothing compares to amateur CrossFit. Powerlifting and weightlifting seem down right sensible in comparison.
I've seen studies and it's really about the same amount of injuries as other types of training. The problem is that it uses much lighter weights and cheater movements like kipping pull ups. If people are using much lighter weights then something like bodybuilding, you should expect much less injuries, not about the same amount.
How is it even possible for that first girl to be so physically useless? She literally just stood up and fell over with no reaction at all. If that's the kind of person you are then you simply shouldn't even be in the gym, you will just end up hurting others, imagine if she just starts dropping weight like that onto other people
